Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

Wake up to a beautiful view. We have a secluded, fenced 20-acre farm with a spring-fed creek, a pond, and cozy cabins to accompany them. The property features multiple sitting areas with campfires, picnic tables, and hammocks. The large pond is perfect for a swim or for catching sizable largemouth bass, and the wooded areas make for a fun exploration experience.
There is no electricity on-site, as we prefer to keep distractions to a minimum in our all-encompassing wonderland. The secured shelter is located atop the ridge on our property. The hiking trail is 0.46 miles long with an elevation gain of 328 feet. I can pack in your gear and provide transport for young children with my ATV.
There is no electricity, but water and an outhouse are available. Inside, you’ll find a wood stove for cold weather and an outdoor fireplace on the porch. The shelter includes two indoor bunks with camping pads provided, along with two hammock hooks on the porch.
The indoor space measures 10x10 feet, with a front porch of the same size. A fire ring with grill and some basic cookware are available—please bring your own utensils. A bear cable is on site for securing food (we do have one known bear in the area).

Absolutely serene property on the Cumberland River. If you love the rustle of the breeze in the trees, sun filtering through the leaves, water sparkling on the river, the call of owls and other birds, and enjoy being around beautifully graceful hosts, this is the place for you. We enjoyed the company of other campers and the owners, enjoyed walking the property, gem sleuthing, fishing in the pond, enjoying the sun burning the fog of the river in the morning, roasting hot dogs and s'mores over the fire pit, and enjoying a delicious breakfast with Angelica. We truly wished we didn't have to leave and could stay for forever!
Did I mention this is all within driving distance of Cumberland Falls to visit the moonbow, see double rainbows during the day, Mountain Craft Center, Eagle Falls, horse riding, and Blue Heron Mining Camp...

A gem! I was able to book same day- last minute as I wasn’t sure if I was going to be traveling that day or not. Megan was very responsive and so accommodating! Loved the little cozy cabin. The bathhouse was really clean, had towels and wash clothes for you to use also. The place is fenced, so if I let my dog off leash after the other tenants left. Nice place and I will visit again and hopefully have more time to spend!

Taylor is very quick to answer texts, everything was as described. Cute camping cabin. Porta potty was clean and not scary at all, our dogs loved the room to roam, the creek, and the pond. Site is central to the mountains and Knoxville, loads of hiking and lake access nearby, town is just minutes away with all the trappings.

Everything is a close walk, the creek/lake is pretty central to everything and it has plenty of fish. Although the fish seem to only bite for meat not artificial bait. Once you have meat on the hook you can see them show up in groups for it.
All the animals were friendly, or at least curious about us and gentle with our toddler.
July makes it too hot and too mosquito-ee to get out and enjoy the trails but the land was beautiful and have no cell service preventing those never ending work calls and emails was amazing as well.

The cabin was definitely roughing it. A small shack up a deep hill. Be prepared to go full on caveman for this one!

We really liked the cabin and its rustic yet contemporary feel. However, it seems like it wasn’t intended for use during Tennessee summers where it can be 80+ degrees inside at night. There was a propane heater which I imagine would make this a really cozy place in colder months but obviously we didn’t need it for our stay. The fans & power bank that the host provides plus having the windows opened helped but it was still uncomfortable.

This is our second visit, and we truly appreciate how Janice has created a warm and welcoming environment that is also dog-friendly. Finding spots that welcome us and our furry friends can be tough, so we’re grateful for this special place. Luke’s Cabin is cozy and comfortable, equipped with everything you might need. We also love that here, you can disconnect and enjoy the tranquility without Wi-Fi. It’s a perfect home base for exploring the beautiful Smokey Mountains and nearby attractions, especially Dollywood, which is just about a 30-minute drive away. Whether you want to fill your days with adventures or simply relax by the lake or fire pit and spend time with the animals, there’s plenty to enjoy. We recommend all of Janice’s wonderful facilities, but our personal favorite is Luke’s Cabin.

We stayed during some intense rains, and to be honest it only made the experience that much better! The cabin is tucked off in the woods about 25ft from the fire pit and picnic table. It was quiet and peaceful. I look forward to staying again!
