Weekend Trip to Locust Grove Waterfall

Locust Grove is a very peaceful & private spot for camping! Loved the lights and different spots to sit to watch the water. Instructions were clear & host was quick to respond with any questions.

We absolutely LOVED the farm! We had a group of 16 and there was plenty of space and benches/two picnic tables to use. We also had many tents and there was rain in the forecast (it did end up raining), so Sarah was really helpful with tips on where to set up the tents to best ensure we stayed dry (which we did)! She was extremely good with communication. The outhouse was very clean and nice, and had lots of little utility items to borrow/buy as needed! We forgot a can opener so that saved us :) Overall great stay, the farm is beautiful, and we would stay again for sure!

We loved our stay here! We were on the pond site and we loved the sound of the frogs and nature in the night time. It was also nice to walk the trails and see all the other animals on the farm. The campsite was very private and came with a fireplace. Dominic was very kind when we chatted and gave us a good amount of wood for $10! Thanks for the awesome stay!

Stayed here for one night with a buddy and our four girls, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The girls had an absolute blast—especially playing with the adorable puppies, roasting marshmallows around the campfire, and hanging out in the spacious tent. The site was comfortable, well set up, and perfect for a quick escape. We’re already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend!

Jan was incredibly helpful and provided amazing hospitality. The glamping tent is nestled in the woods. Comfortable bed frames and all the necessary amenities are provided for a cozy night's sleep. The property has a charming farm atmosphere. Roosters, chickens, and bunnies roam freely, adding to the experience. The play area has a swing and other fun activities for kids. Fire logs are available, allowing for a cozy campfire in the evenings. Jan offered fresh eggs to take away in the morning. The Cabbage Tent glamping experience exceeded expectations. We had such a great time at Sam and Melissa's farm! The setting was beautiful and peaceful—we especially loved spending time down by the river. There was lots of privacy and our dog loved swimming and exploring the open space! We even saw some deer. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t fully cooperate and it rained quite a bit, which meant we had to cut our stay short. But Sam and Melissa were incredibly accommodating and kindly refunded us for the night we had to forgo due to the weather. We really appreciated their hospitality and would definitely love to come back under sunnier skies!

I recently had the pleasure of staying overnight at Wyomanick Farm, and it was a delightful experience. The lush landscape and beautifully mowed paths created a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. I loved wandering around the property, enjoying the picturesque ponds, vibrant wildflowers, and towering pines. While the frogs sang us to sleep at night, Tom was incredibly accommodating and pleasant, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. I highly recommend Wyomanick Farm for a peaceful getaway!

The water level was perfect for a weekend escape. There were a few people in and out of the public space throughout, but we never had any issues and our space felt very private. The property is VERY well taken care of. They’ve thought of everything. I love the extra touches. Especially the lights. It definitely adds to the experience. We will definitely be back 🙌

All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. There is some road noise from Sawkill road & the Thruway dependent on the spot you choose to set up. There is chickens, bees & goats & 2 guardian life stocks dogs that live with the goats. I also have a small Terrier & a farm cat. A lot of outdoor activity with bird watching, bunnies, deer & the groundhogs say good night. It’s rural yet only 10 minutes to Kingston uptown and about 20 minutes to Woodstock. About 1 hr from Hunter & Windham Mountain resorts and 45 minutes to Belleayre Ski. We also have a wood fired oven and offer pizza making classes as well as catered meals.

This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. We have great blue heron and eagles and otter and hawk and deer and owl and all sorts of critters and flora here with us. This is country. 53 miles north of NYC in the Croton-Harmon Watershed District. Learn more about this land: We are on the north side of Nimham Mountain, complete with its firetower to climb and see the Hudson River Valley and its 1126 acres of NYS DEC Multiple Use Area of mountain bike & equestrian & hiking trails. Camp COVID Site 19

Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking! There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you! Come and stay and say hi!

Monarch Meadows

This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant.
