Relax and enjoy all that our farm has to offer. You can enjoy nature and privacy or opt for a more interactive experience and join our morning or evening farm tour where you can interact with goats, sheep, mini-horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, and more.
We are a small family farm where we raise animals and grow flowers/food. Our family home was built in 1739 and is situated near the street entrance.
As you enter the property, you will see two cottages, the oldest corn crib in the county, and a beautifully restored 1800s barn. There is a vintage-style camper to the left of the barn, located in an area where you can have privacy overlooking the pastures.
We live on the property and can assist guests with anything that they might need.
Guests are welcome to stroll around the property and enjoy all it has to offer. We have a farm store and education center opening summer of 2025! Check our website to see classes and offerings that you might take advantage of during your stay.
Please note, that we ask that guests do not enter the barn or fenced pasture without one of the farm owners (Molly & Diego). Our animals are accustomed to people, but livestock is unpredictable, especially to people that they do not know. There is plenty of area outside of the pasture that guests can enjoy. If you opt for a farm tour we promise that you will have plenty of interaction with our many animals.

There is a long wooden table up in the barn loft that seats 14. There are games up there too, (dominos, cards, trivial pursuit etc). You may also camp outside under the starry skies.

Natchaug State Forest is the scene of a wonderful fairytale. Once upon a time, there were two rivers that couldn’t stand to be apart. Finally, when it seemed like things would never change, they joined together in a beautiful forest in Connecticut and flowed happily ever after. At least that’s what we like to think.
In Natchaug Forest is where the Bigelow and Still Rivers join to form the Natchaug River, and the scenery here really isn’t far off from something in a fairytale. It’s common to see people galloping through the woods on horseback and there are even a few old stone structures. So let your imagination run wild and have yourself an adventure.

Located in northern Connecticut, right up there by Massachusetts, Tunxis State Forest is wild and remote. The trees here are some of the oldest around, since it was already wooded when it became owned by the state in 1923. Most other forests were only just growing into what they are now from abandoned farms.
You never know what you might see in Tunxis State Forest, although we can give you some ideas. If you go for a hike through these old trees, you might spy a moose munching on foliage, or a black bear bumbling about. If that hike happens to be the Falls Brook trail, then you will certainly see a beautiful waterfall.

There are several options for setting up your tent. You will be the only ones at Fernwood, or Fernwood 2 unless we happen to be up working on the land. No matter where you set up you'll have your own private fire pit, and level ground for your tent(s).
Come and enjoy a quiet retreat, or use Fernwood as a base for many outdoor activities-biking, fishing, hiking-all nearby. Natchaug Forest offers great trout fishing. Goodwin State Forest is less than 3 miles away by car where you can put in a canoe on Pine Lake, amble through the wildflower and pollinator gardens, or enjoy the Education Center and Museum. From Goodwin, you can access the Air Line State Park Bike/Hiking Path.

With 9,000 acres of wooded hills and an 18-acre pond, the whole population of Hartford could get lost here.
If getting lost is indeed what you’d like to do, you can do so by land or water. Getting lost by canoe on the pond is highly recommended, although getting lost in the forest is equally pleasurable. Tree huggers unite! This is the promised land. Consisting of two separate forests, the wooded bastions of Mother Nature rise tall and strong in these parts. Each tree is beautiful in its own way, but perhaps no trunk is better for squeezing than those in the 200-year old white pine grove in the Whittemore Recreation Area of the Peoples Forest.
One can only hug so many trees, however, so it’s a good thing there are lots of other things to do in the American Legion and Peoples State Forests. The trails that wind through these wooded acres will keep hikers on their feet for days on end. And the waters of the wild and scenic West Branch of the Farmington River attracts kayakers and fishers from all over Connecticut and even neighboring states. It’s a charming little hobbit hole and very romantic. We had perfect weather and we didn’t have any issues. I’m glad I’d brought a cam stove because I never got calcification on the “kitchen” space/campfire but really all we needed was coffee in the morning and my Moka suited just fine. We really loved this camp. There were clear trails, accommodating facilities, and we would plan on coming back if we chose to stay in the other charming sites. We ended up leaving early unfortunately because we got spooked by the group of coyotes howling nearby and our own tent that we had brought had a problem with the zipper, so Andreas cozy “glamping” areas sound like a much more comfortable fit for us if we come again.
