1 night at Taconic Forest FALL Camping!

I had a great experience with Constance and camping there! I was a late arrival 11:30pm and they came out to show me the site and the restroom! I appreciated that after a long drive and tired. She was a great communicator and hostess! She even gave us a basket of fruit! So kind. The location is great. You can get gas nearby, a convenience store, and Dunkin’ Donuts! Thank you, Constance! I would stay again!

We had an amazing time at Mike’s camp, even when it rained one night! There was plenty of firewood available, and the space was vast enough to accommodate a large group. We were upgraded to Phoenix Landing, which is more secluded and away from road noise—definitely a great spot for a peaceful getaway. We visited at the end of winter and could already tell that the area would be lush and beautiful in the summer. There’s a nice walking path on the property, perfect for a leisurely stroll. While there is a bathroom and shower on-site, we didn’t use them since we were only there for two nights and brought our own setup. The campsite was clean and well-maintained, and the land at Phoenix Landing was leveled, making our tent setup super even and comfortable for sleeping. There’s also a platform available, but we opted for a more primitive camping experience. We met Mike at the mushroom factory, and he was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and polite. Checking in and out was a breeze, and whenever we needed to communicate, he was always available and responsive. Overall, we had an awesome experience and would highly recommend this spot!

Host was accommodating and flexible, given the private site and unmarked. A brook runs thru the site making it tranquil if you can get a spot close. A quaint spot- will be back.

Great secluded spot. We stayed over 1 night in New Year’s Eve, on the way to Maine. Even though we arrived after dark the site was easy to see and get set up. Very quite stay and even with heavy rains there was no problem getting in and out. Turns can be a bit tight but with careful navigation we didn’t have an issue.

Unlike my past review, which contains an error Hipcamp has yet to fix, this spot should always have a thumbs up. It’s peaceful, quiet, dark, woodsy and full of stars. Rick is super responsive to messages and I have enjoyed staying here. I camped but boy, that yurt is beautiful. The property is perfect for all your overnight needs. Thank you !

We also host local Scout Groups, and Appellation Trail hikers. Hikers know that we are located about 2 miles south of the route 9 trail crossing at the Appalachian Market and offer pick up and drop off service from there on weekends. Hudson Valley is a wonderful 4 season go to location and being about an hour away from New York City you won’t spend hours in the car before being able to stretch your legs.

The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house. When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here. We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site. We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same. It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property. We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped. We are just six minutes away from the Tenmile River Metro North station and can pick you up with advance coordination. The town of Kent, Connecticut is a 7-minute drive and has lots of shops, dining, and an art gallery. The town of Amenia, New York is a 12-minute drive and has a drive-in movie theater, and some restaurants. Historic Downtown Wassaic is a 7-minute drive and is home to the Wassaic Project art gallery.
