Welcome to Camp Wilder! We are an off-the-beaten-path camp offering peace and solitude. The cabin is very special to my family and me. It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect. A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them. The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy. Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland. The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. 🌲 Glen Isle Campgrounds – A Historic Riverside Retreat Welcome to Glen Isle, a 125-year-old mountain resort along the North Fork of the South Platte River. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Glen Isle offers a camping experience rich in Colorado history, natural beauty, and a warm sense of community. 🔥 Fire Policy – Preserving History, Ensuring Safety Due to wildfire risk and increasing insurance challenges in our region, open flames are not permitted. This includes wood-burning campfires, charcoal grills, and any flame that could spark a wildfire. We do offer: • A designated community fire ring, approved by the fire department, which may be used when fire restrictions are not in place. • Campers may bring propane fire rings and propane cooking gear. Thank you for helping protect Glen Isle’s forest surroundings and historic buildings for generations to come. 🚗 Highway Proximity – A Historic Trade-Off A common question we hear involves our location next to Highway 285. When Glen Isle opened in the early 1900s, the highway was a railroad line, and being close to it was a luxury. Guests would arrive with their trunks and walk straight onto the property. Today, that same route is a busy road. While some campers aren’t bothered by traffic sounds, others may find it disruptive—especially at our riverside sites. We do our best to communicate this clearly and offer alternative campsites farther from the road for a quieter stay. 🎣 Activities & Amenities On Site Glen Isle is more than just a campsite. You’ll enjoy: • Fly fishing and rod fishing • A disc golf course through the trees • A trailhead ½ mile behind the property • A recreation room with games • A curated gift shop • Guided tours of the historic lodge • Friendly rescue horses • Bingo Nights in the Kiva • Campfire music gatherings • Tuesday Food Truck nights • A stroll to the Coney Island hot dog stand • Just 30 miles from Red Rocks Amphitheatre ⸻ Whether you’re here to cast a line, enjoy music under the stars, or explore the wilderness, Glen Isle offers more than a place to camp—it’s a place to connect.

The first time I saw this beautiful heavily wooded 12-acre property, I immediately put in an offer. That was 18 years ago. I spent the next 11 years chasing corporate goals which I finally realized were inconsistent with my soul. I started a family and decided to sell this property. I brought my then 2 year old daughter here so she could see it once before I sold it. As we drove up highway 285 through vistas each more stunning than the last, I was moved to tears by the beauty. By the time we reached the property, I knew that we would be moving back here. Nearly 3 years later, we finally moved back with 3 dogs and 2 cats in tow. We love it here and truly belong in this place we call home. Part of the former Ute tribe summer hunting area, and backing to the Pike National Forest and Lost Creek Wilderness; this fascinating area is both beautiful and full of things to do. Fresh clean mountain air. No people. Get away to the quiet beauty of your private wooded cabin. Enjoy a campfire, amazing mountain views, and killer hiking right out your cabin door. Spend an amazing night with millions of stars overhead. Recharge your soul in silent mountain peace. A rare opportunity to stay tucked in private woods and steps from 1000s of acres of national forest. Featuring dual heaters, sleeping loft, outdoor cooking area, solar, and indoor camp toilet facilities, this is luxury glampingSpend an unforgettable night watching millions of stars in the crisp clean mountain air.  Feel yourself relax and recharge as you enjoy the woods and the stunning mountain views. The cabin is furnished with many of the pieces from the Lost Creek Cabin Studio and features solar electricity and indoor camp toilet facilities. The Fisherman’s Cabin is a charming and cozy retreat nestled in the heart of Rocky Mountains. This small, one-room cabin offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Enjoy the rustic comforts complete with an outhouse equipped with a sink, a solar shower bag for a refreshing wash, and a composting toilet, ensuring your stay is both sustainable and comfortable. For warmth, the cabin features a propane heater, and a single-burner stove provides a place to heat up some coffee or cook a simple meal while taking in the peaceful surroundings. Step outside to the cabin’s large, inviting deck, where you’ll find a fire-pit and large grill, perfect for a cozy evening under the stars. The soothing sound of the nearby river adds to the tranquility of the area, creating an ideal setting to unwind. The cabin sits on a beautiful 4-acre plot, surrounded by forest that gives great access into the National Forest surroundings. You can park right next to the cabin with a 4x4 or AWD vehicle, or park at the bottom of the driveway for a short 50-foot walk from the cabin, if you’re driving a regular car. The Fisherman’s Cabin, hosted by Huts and Hills, has a rich and fascinating history. Originally built by two professors from Berkeley College, the cabin was designed as an annual mountain retreat. Each year, they would journey from California to Colorado, seeking peace and relaxation in the serene forests of the Lost Acres National Park. At the turn of the century, the nearby Denver Wheel Club, with its headquarters right by the river on Insmont Drive, would host a major bike race every year. Back then, the area had no roads, and the only way to access these lands was by train from Denver, making it an even more remote and special destination. Today, the Fisherman’s Cabin is conveniently located just a short distance outside downtown Bailey, Colorado. It offers easy access to various mountain passes such as Guanella and Kenosha. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering countless opportunities for hiking, fishing, hunting, biking, and wildlife watching. Whether you're an adventurer looking to ride world class mountain bike trails, climb mountains, or just trying to relax, this spot has something for everyone.
