Located 2.5 miles from the famous Paint Mines Interpretive Park and Trails and 4 miles from the El Paso County Fairgrounds that hold many events all summer long. The town of Calhan is just 4 miles north of this property. There, you will find the local grocery store, restaurants, gas stations, and dollar store for any of your needs. Enjoy seclusion and beautiful views of the rolling hillside and wildlife all while being sheltered amongst our mature trees. All of our campsites are tucked in the trees to give you privacy and shelter from the Colorado breeze. Bring your bikes and ride to the paint mines or explore the property on our trails and stay close. We have the best tasting well water so feel free to fill up your water jugs at the hydrant closest to the chicken coops!! Come see our dream in the works and soak up some serenity! Dogs are welcome, however they must be dog friendly, trained and well behaved. They are free to roam but chasing calves and causing trouble with other animals will not be tolerated. We also have dogs, but will do our best to have them put up when you arrive with adequate communication about you ETA . No bathroom facilities at the moment. Also, no fires unless approved by us! You will meet our beautiful alpacas and Nubian goats that we have for milk, weed control and just because they make us happy, as well as a flock of laying chickens for fresh eggs. Additional vehicle parking on the property can be accommodated for groups with more than one vehicle. Guests can relax around our small pond or roam freely around our 35-acre property. There is both hiking and fishing at Badger Creek only a short drive away. Waugh Mountain State Trust Land is another hiking option and is also just a short drive up the road (*NOTE: the State of Colorado now requires a valid hunting/fishing license to access state trust lands)! Additionally, we are about 45-90 minutes away from a variety of alternative adventures! Welcome to Black Forest, Colorado, located on the northern end of Colorado Springs. This property sits on 5 1/2 acres of beautiful woods. Despite the privacy and peacefulness, you are only minutes away from a gas station/convenience, store, barbecue restaurant, breakfast/lunch café, and a pizza/grinders restaurant. We have two covered RV spots and two open RV spots. The two covered spots have electrical hook ups, the smaller spot offers only 110v plug-in, and the large spot offers 30/50amp. Although we don’t have water at each spot we do have long water hoses to get your tanks full. Please note we do not have septic! There is a KOAA 15 minutes away, which allows dumping for a $10 cash fee. The smaller RV spot is suitable for up to a 30 foot RV, the larger spot can fit up to a 40 foot RV. There is one tight turn to get onto the property, but once you’re on the property it is easy to navigate. We highly recommend you arrive during daylight hours, so you can maneuver properly. Wi-if available. Fire pits allowed on the open center area only. Quiet hours from 9 PM to 8 AM. Owners live on site, in the log cabin. Two dogs live on property.

Less than one hour drive to the Royal Gorge, Pueblo reservoir, and other local attractions. Endless hiking and exploring of the canyons on the 160 acres of private property. Bring your binoculars to to enhance the vistas from camp, or even a spotting scope for long range game viewing. Golfers Driving range is great fun. Feel free to smack the provided golf balls into the abyss for max distance. Also the golf ball scavenger hunting in the canyon below can keep the kids busy for hours. Truly a destination campsite, worth a few nights stay. This place is Sweet!!! Notes -No fires what so ever! Fire danger is extremely high in this area. - Although we are only forty miles from the Sand Dunes park, it is a four hour drive to get there, so maybe not the best area to stay if the dunes are on your list. - Days in the summer can get pretty hot and shade is hard to come by, so plan a day trip to Florence river park, (about 30 minutes drive)and hop in the Arkansas river and cool off. - this is a wilderness area and all Colorado wildlife is present.

Jamie is very gracious, knowledgeable and kind. This location is right next to the Paint Mines and a great place to say after your hike. The location is very quiet and great for star and moon gazing. This site also sits adjacent to a wind(mill) farm which is a great unique landscape. Very nice, safe place to stay!

Secluded! Cool view on the distant horizon that was about a five minute walk away, and at night looking East over the blinking lights of hundreds (thousands?) of windmills. Not many places you will see this! Dark sky was also good as the Milky Way was directly overhead. Antelope also were around.

It was absolutely beautiful and extremely peaceful! Jamie went above and beyond in communication And making sure she was available to show us to the site! Jamie and her young son showed us the way, he did bike wheelies and double checked to make sure we we’re good while they showed us to our campsite. Couldnt ask for a better or sweeter welcome :) We slept wonderfully and it was extremely peaceful! 15/10!!!

Perfect stop while staying in the Colorado Springs area. Very clean property with easy access to the RV site. We stayed in the larger bay with our 33’ fifth wheel. Adriana and her husband were very good at communicating with us and made sure we were hooked up to their water. The setting is a nicely wooded area with deer and birds coming through on loud stay.

Tim and Lori were amazing hosts! They greeted us at the gate upon arrival and drove us to our site. Lori gave us homemade chocolate chip cookies, doggie bags with treats, a goodie bag for my kids to play with and fish food! They were available whenever we had any questions. The property is beautiful and spot 4 was the perfect spot for my family of 5 and our 2 dogs! We absolutely recommend this camp and 100% plan to come and stay again!

This is an amazing property. We came once before in July this year, and decided to invite our friends who brought their daughter (our daughters best friend, and our 4 year old sons favorite person) for her first camping trip. We had the area around the pond to ourselves, the girls (both 8 years old) had a magical time. All of us grownups had a great time too. The goodies for the kids and our dog were so much fun. We realized we dont really need to bring anything to entertain our kids next time. The place was fascinating to them. At one point the girls jumped into the pond together, it was truly an adventure! The kids are begging us to stay there a month next time.... if only that were feasible! We also took a hike up a hill to see one of their other campgrounds. It was amazing, although I'm not sure our car would make the trek. I love this place, it is such a gift that Tim and Lori have chosen to share their beautiful property so that families can have a much needed retreat. I cant wait to go back next year.

Weekend Trip to Falkor Ranch

I definitely recommend this place. So peaceful. Tom & Diane made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable. They are very knowledgeable and so kind. Tom offered us a tarp for the bottom of our tent, we very much appreciate it. We were passing through for work & it was a wonderful break from being on the road for my husband, me, & our 2 year old son. Our son loves the outdoors so he absolutely loved it here. Their alpacas & goats were so sweet, my son would go and say hi to them often. But their dog Titus won our hearts over, he’s so huge and so loving. I really enjoyed spending time with him while we sat on the grass under some tree shade. We had access to a restroom and shower as well as a room that was like a kitchen with a sink where you can wash some dishes if needed. It is shared with other guest, which is not an issue. This is such a lovely place. And I hope to one day come across this one again. Thank you Tom & Diane for everything.
