Jaimie is a great host! She communicated quickly and clearly, was flexible when a storm blew in, and was great to talk to about the area.
For us, the location was great. Easy to find, plenty of room with level sites, a wind break, two pine trees perfect for a hammock, quiet with great bird songs, and 'very' easy to get to the paint mines. As a photographer I went in the morning and evening catching great colors.
We were not bothered by the wind turbines. On the contrary it was quite amazing to see the red lights blinking out to the eastern horizon. There was some sound, but it blended into the background.
It was nice talking with Jaimie who worked on the turbines along with her husband. Learned about transporting those long propellors by truck!
This was a perfect getaway for us. Three days, although we could have stayed longer. However, we will definitely return. Not only for the paint mines, but also for a taste of life on the prairie.
This was five stars all around!

The land was gorgeous waking up to windmills surrounding you is definitely an incredible experience. The hosts were just incredible too! I won’t lie this was our first time car camping so we were ROOKIES! We got stuck in the snow, and when we gave up trying to shovel ourselves out, we texted our hosts and he they immediately came and got us out. They are incredible people not only did they help us but the entire time they were so gracious and kind!

Jamie is very gracious, knowledgeable and kind. This location is right next to the Paint Mines and a great place to say after your hike. The location is very quiet and great for star and moon gazing.
This site also sits adjacent to a wind(mill) farm which is a great unique landscape. Very nice, safe place to stay!

Secluded! Cool view on the distant horizon that was about a five minute walk away, and at night looking East over the blinking lights of hundreds (thousands?) of windmills. Not many places you will see this! Dark sky was also good as the Milky Way was directly overhead. Antelope also were around.

It was absolutely beautiful and extremely peaceful! Jamie went above and beyond in communication And making sure she was available to show us to the site!
Jamie and her young son showed us the way, he did bike wheelies and double checked to make sure we we’re good while they showed us to our campsite. Couldnt ask for a better or sweeter welcome :)
We slept wonderfully and it was extremely peaceful! 15/10!!!

Jamie’s property is off the beaten path just enough that it’s convenient and easy to find, and provides a safe, quiet spot to relax and sleep. And being close to Paint Mines is a great bonus! I would recommend Jamie’s property to anyone passing through the area.

This is a great location and Jamie is very helpful and accommodating. Site is very peaceful and beautiful view of the front range and eastern Colorado rolling plains. Paint Mines are just down the road and highly recommend walking around and checking them out. Highly recommended Hipcamp site!

We had a nice time camping for two nights on Jamie's property. The campsite is well maintained with a unique view of the wind turbines. We liked hearing the roosters throughout our trip, and we had a visit during the day from their sweet doggos. We brought our own firewood and had a campfire and some incredible star gazing.
We explored the paint mines, which were just a 5 minute drive away.
Jamie and her family are super nice and communicative if needed.
An A+ experience, thanks again, Jamie!

Jamie was a very friendly and helpful host. The location was perfect for visiting the paint mine near Calhan, and there also happened to be a county fair at the time of my visit which was a lot of fun. I would recommend this location for anyone who’s interested in exploring the area.

Very private-feeling spot. There are natural barriers around the area so we felt comfortable letting our dog explore. The only downside is very very little shade, so bring your own. Jamie is extremely friendly and kind. We’ll likely be back!

Cool place to camp, and not too far from COS! It's far enough out to still feel like an escape. The wind turbines create a unique atmosphere and make a cool whooshing sound. Loved that we were able to have a campfire!
Jamie is a great host and made sure we were all set. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to severe thunderstorms, but we still enjoyed the time we spent and will be back for sure!

I loved camping on Jamie’s land near the Painted Mines! They have a great property with a nice camp spot to park your vehicle and set up a tent. We had a Gazelle Overland Tent that fit perfectly along with our camp toilet with privacy pop up tent. I had my 4 year old border collie/cattle dog mix with me so it was an absolute JOY to camp here with their family dogs. My dog loved playing chase with them and the small patches of snow he could army crawl in.
The land is nice and flat so no need to worry about leveling off anything. Cold and fresh water available by the chickens. I was able to fill up my 5 gallon Jerrycan for the stay which was super convenient!
The hosts are very hospitable and a joy to coordinate and communicate with. Definitely recommend this Hipcamp to fellow travelers!

Great piece of land for camping! Even with high winds the tree line offers good coverage. Would definitely stay again and its only 5 minutes from the paint mines. Also the host is friendly and quick to respond to any questions.

Jaime's place has character and is very close to the absolutely stunning paint mines. A highlight for me were the nearby windmills—at night I could hear the blades gently whooshing, and while gazing up at the starry skies it created a hypnotic effect. It's relatively open land so in the quiet of night you can hear far away faint sounds which added to the surreal experience. Her beautiful rooster helped me seize the day which I appreciated.
