History of JW Durango Riverside Resort It all started in 1965… When this campground hosted its first guests the goal back then was simply to offer folks from around the Four Corners a place to relax and lounge along the Animas River. When the farm house was built in 1909, the cabin was already here. We bought the weed patch with the intention of starting a flower farm. It was a cattle feed lot years ago and the soil should be very fertile. We'll use the composted manure in the Spring. Learn more about this land: Farm land off I-76 and Hwy 6. Set up camp under old cottonwood trees, between the wild plums and spruce trees. 31267 Road U, Brush CO 80723. Prewitt Reservoir and Elliot State Recreational Area nearby. Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. See the stars at night. Wake up to the rooster's crow. We have alfalfa and corn to the north and grasslands to the south. Outhouse/port-o-potty is available. The train adds to the country feel. Irrigation ditch runs at least two days a week. Our chickens are friendly and used to dogs. Site #1 is better for small vehicles and tent camping. It is more protected. Site #2 is better for large RVs and trailers. Located down the road from nationally recognized Optimist disc golf course in Ft Morgan CO.

RV Sites are NOT booked through hipcamp, they run $50-$60 nightly and can only be reserved through the Bristol Mountain RV Park & Cabins website.  We are 32728 hwy 149 Creede. 11 miles towards Lake City on hwy 149. Pull all through the Cabins and either turn left up the little hill camping anywhere, but keep the fire pit open for everyone. Or drive through the green gate past cabin #7 and camp in the pasture. Bathhouse is in the middle of the cabins. (No Bathhouse or water after September 15th.) Fire pit and picnic table are on the hill.  You can have dogs off leash anywhere away from the cabins and RV sites, just be careful as we have horses, we don't want the pup's getting kicked.  Let me know if you need anything. Andy, the host, was so kind to my boyfriend and I. The sites are so nice and not right on top of each other which is not typical for camping so that was very appreciated! You can tell that Andy put a lot of thought into thinking about others with the dog park, the shade provided for the site, the lights at night, and the porta potty. We will definitely be going back soon!

This spot was exactly what we needed. The convenience of being near the city while still having a bright, lovely night sky and total silence was perfect. Andy is a top-tier host who goes out of his way to be helpful. Everything is simple, clean, and well-cared for. Highly recommend if you want to feel safe and comfortable under the stars.

Beautiful spot right on the water! Definitely rustic but a great value for the price and had everything we needed. The owners were very nice! Great privacy for Pioneer Cabin 2. Kids enjoyed walking across the swinging bridge. Beautiful moonlit sky to enjoy the evenings. If you're fussy about linens or cush pillows, bring your own. We were there during a heat wave in late March and it was quite warm in the cabin. The oscillating fan was a lifesaver but it doesn't hit one corner of the beds. If it's peak summer, you may wanna throw in a second one. The coffee pot is a nice touch and fridge and microwave too! Made for a low maintenance quick getaway from the city and a short, scenic drive to Salida. Crucial that it was pet friendly as we love being able to bring our doggos. Would definitely come back. Thanks for having us!

Loved staying at Last Resort! It was beautiful, peaceful & quiet. We had full hookups & fit our 29 ft motorhome. Stayed here to go skiing at Wolf Creek. Love that it is also close to Pegosa Springs. We love this area! I highly recommend Last resort & will stay here again!

We had an excellent experience at Sweetwater! Our host responded promptly to all of our questions and it was great to have bathrooms available. We loved that we had picnic tables and a fire ring. It might help to warn guests that there are stairs on the opposite side of the river since we had our wagon and didn't realize until we crossed in the dark that we had to carry it down stairs. We definitely plan to return in the future! So beautiful!

Sun Outdoors is a small community of cabins, air stream trailers and RVs in the small mountain town of Granby. There are trails onsite which is really nice if you have dogs! The restaurant/bar onsite is very convenient and this was a great little spot to stay in the spring/winter, would be really nice in the summer as well.

Where to go

Western Colorado

Western Colorado shares quite a bit in common with neighboring Utah to the west, with massive sandstone rock formations—including the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park—plus fantastic opportunities for winter and summer recreation alike. Towns worth checking out include Steamboat Springs and Aspen—both popular ski resorts—as well as cute towns such as Montrose and Durango that make excellent bases for exploring the wilds of the San Juan Mountains. If you’re interested in history or archaeology, don’t miss the chance to visit the Puebloan cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park.

Denver and North-Central Colorado

Stretching from Fort Collins near the Wyoming border all the way down just past Denver, this region is largely urban but still offers plenty for campers. You can take in fantastic views of the region from the Estes Park Aerial Tramway or by driving the Trail Ridge Road scenic byway through Rocky Mountain National Park. Or, pack up your tent and head out on a backcountry camping trip in the Arapaho and Roosevelt national forests.

South and South-Central Colorado

This part of the state offers a mix of wide-open plains and towering massifs, including Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs, a scenic mountaintop that served as the inspiration for the patriotic tune America the Beautiful. Popular area activities include fishing and whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande and sledding down the sands at Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve. If you want to soothe tired muscles after a weekend of adventure, head to the hot springs towns of Buena Vista and Salida—both just outside the Pike and San Isabel national forests.

Eastern Colorado

Quiet Eastern Colorado features a mix of grasslands and canyons, with massive expanses of grazing lands and farms that give way to charming small towns. You can learn about life in the 19th century at the Old Fort National Historic Site and the Boggsville Historic Site, or head down to the John Martin Reservoir, a great place for birdwatching and boating.
