We are closed for the season. PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like. Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! Returning this season is 12 year old KayLee, also a GP and and Finn, our little dude from Alaska. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm. Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We typically do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

Learn more about this land: Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people, no shops)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives. Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a 16ft Yurt Canvas set up with furnishings (desk, couch, wash stand) and a wooden Queen Bed with down bedding. This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft.  I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars.  With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.  *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

We are closed for the season. PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like. Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! Eons ago camels roamed through the San Luis Valley and today they roam once again.  Come and stay at our yurt enjoying views of the mountains and of the camels and donkeys roaming their home.   Take a farm tour and get the chance to pet the camels and maybe even sneak a camel kiss.  Enjoy a night stay at the yurt viewing the stars or enjoying a nice fire at the fire pit.   Come stay in our yurt and get the chance to meet our little herd of camels and wake up to the views of the gorgeous surroundings!  Travel down a few miles of dirt roads and you will find our little oasis of 35 acres.  The hard-sided yurt sits right next to the field where our camels and donkeys roam.  Set apart from the main house, sitting in Trujillo Canyon, and surrounded by BLM/National Forrest, its the perfect spot for recharging. Located off the beaten path so amazing for star gazing but also close enough to the Sand Dunes for day adventures.  Our property is off the grid and allows you to disconnect for a little while and there is a nice creek to go and sit by.  Each stay also includes a farm tour if you are interested.  The night skies have little light pollution and are perfect for star gazing.  We can't wait for you to come and stay with us!Don't take our word for it, guests love their stays with us! "We struck gold finding this magical place. We stayed in spot 2 with our 30 ft and had plenty of room! Gorgeous views and impeccably clean spaces and the cleanest Porta potty I've ever seen. We had a blast and the hosts were so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We will absolutely be back and recommend to anyone that will listen!

This was a GREAT location and easy to get around anywhere we wanted to go! Kelly and her husband were excellent hosts. Kelly shared places to go, she was extremely responsive and they had an adapter for the electric! I hope to visit here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a great stay here! The hosts were kind and welcoming, and as a solo traveler, I felt completely safe the whole time. It was peaceful, easy to find, and exactly what I needed for my trip. The porta potty was great for emergencies, but just know it’s a basic setup. Also the sunrises are incredible from this spot! Overall, I’d definitely recommend!

we arrived late in the evening and was grateful that the host met us to help back in because site 1 is a little tricky. I had a 19ft Sprinter and it was fine. Actually we were able to park both Sprinters parallel on site 1. Try to make sure you get there before sunset, cuz the road is narrow and the hip camp is a little tricky to locate. It is off the main highway but close enough to hear traffic but quiets down in the evening. Grateful for the electric hookup and water spout and trash can. Felt very safe. Very good price for all that is offered.

A great place for tent camping. Secluded, very quiet, great night sky, close to some good hiking, and a nice (cold!) stream for soaking the feet. Shera is a very welcoming and friendly host. Stayed 5 nights and will likely return.

Don's property is true New Mexico gem. Off the beaten path and nestled among the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. Excellent place to stay if you are looking to explore the natural wonders amongst the Rio Grande Gorge and Taos area. Watching the full moon rise each night over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains was the cherry on top. Don is a 10/10 host, highly recommended!

Nice level spot just off the state highway. Easy access down into downtown Taos and up to Taos Ski Valley. We didn't get to meet Kelly as we were in and out fairly quick, but we were sent very clear instructions on finding the property, and we appreciated her local hiking and restaurant tips. We also didn't end up using the amenities during our quick overnight stay, but offering power, water, trash services, and a clean porta-potty for this price was very kind. There was some light road noise as the sites backup onto the highway, but we still had a restful night of sleep. We did hear lots of coyote calls in the distance which was pretty cool! Site 1 is the smallest of the three RV sites as it has a large tree off the side, but it was still easy to back into with our 19' camper. Would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area!

If you are looking for a place to overnight, and don’t need any frills, this is the place!!! The directions are easy to follow and Kelly does a magnificent job communicating about the location and surrounding area. There is a porta-potty for campers, and it is the CLEANEST you will ever be in.
