Wendy, John and their pup Louie were wonderful & welcoming . Wendy had a hearty soup ready on our arrival that we enjoyed at our campsite at the edge of the forest . The camping area is a large grassy area perfect for our pup to freely run around . Great beach access .

This campsite is in a really remote location with level ground that made setting up easy. The hosts were available, friendly, and helpful without being intrusive. We were honored to be welcomed into their beautiful private paradise. The swimming hole was magical. Really beautiful and refreshing. We had a hard time leaving and are already talking about booking another trip back.

We really enjoy our stay in Wayne’s Property, especially the kids and also thank to his wife’s Delicious Chocolate chip cookies, the kids loves it. Wayne and his wife greeted us and give us instructions about our campsite when we arrived, location is very nice, it is surrounded with trees in the middle of the mountain, plus the swimming hole is a bonus. We will recommend the campsite to our friends and we will be back!!

We really enjoyed staying at this spot. The location was great for us - about 6 or 7 minutes to both downtown Eureka and Arcata. It is nicely set up for privacy, with some very nice amenities (lounging area, water, trash and recycling, and power - which we didn’t use.) It has a country feel, and though on a moderate use road was very quiet at night. We’ll stay here again when in the area.

This is a small peaceful campground among redwoods. The host are kind and friendly, they went out of their way to provide a pleasant experience. It is a hidden gem near the Avenue of the Giants!

Easy to find, clean bathrooms, hot water for showers, plenty of space, and a tetherball which we enjoyed. It was a bit creepy being the only ones there on a Sunday night and not knowing the area or interacting with anyone since there was no check-in process, but overall we had zero issues! And they had cute little dried flowers as a little souvenir :)

Ryan’s land is very private and quiet with the exception of the water running nearby. I ended up getting there very late and could not find it at first. Make sure you download an off-line map and don’t be like me. Once I found my spot I was a happy camper though. I really think the water helped me sleep better than I have in a long time. Highly recommend.

Great spot to spend a night! You can tell Andrew has put in some work to make this a comfortable spot and it definitely was. String lights, tables, chairs, etc. I was a bit nervous at first when I arrived with the road nearby but it definitely quieted down at night. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!

Small spot next to the host’s driveway in a very quiet peaceful rural neighborhood just outside Arcata. Laurie was very welcoming and invited us to pick fresh blueberries from the garden. Yum! We did a beautiful short hike on a neighborhood trail through a redwood forest. Somewhat lacking in privacy, but on the whole a super spot and a great location. I’d stay there again.

I think this is a good spot especially if you’re looking for something simple near the southern end of the Ave of the Giants. Plus Miranda has a good coffee stand and a two restaurants. The best part of this spot were the clean restrooms that also had a shower. These restrooms/showers were really nice and were kinda like a bathroom you’d expect at a spa or yoga center. So that was great. Definitely recommend.

5 nights at Klamath’s Best Kept Secret

We love our stays with Patti. Our site had a full hook-up. The grounds are well maintained and easy to maneuver even with our 35 ft. fifth wheel. Patti is a wonderful host. You will come as a guest but leave as a friend. Her camp hosts are also very friendly. We spent time with Mike by the campfire. He provided us with numerous great suggestions on places to visit in Oregon. This is our second visit but not our last!

We stayed one night at the Redwoods Rest Stop near Eureka/Arcata and absolutely loved the peaceful setting. The site was clean, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful tall trees, which made for a relaxing and nature filled experience. The gravel driveway was easy to navigate, and we appreciated how private and tucked-away the spot felt.

The Klamath River is just over the levee—a short walk from your site—with great access for fishing, swimming, or simply relaxing by the water. The river is world-famous for salmon and steelhead fishing (license required). August and September are peak fishing months, so expect a few early morning engines from folks heading out. We’re only 4 miles off Highway 101, far enough to enjoy peace and quiet without traffic noise. Wildlife is part of the experience here, so please stash your food at night to keep critters out of camp. Outdoor lovers will find plenty to explore nearby—hiking and biking trails, the Trees of Mystery, Jet Boat Tours, and, of course, miles of redwood forest to get lost in. A few things to note: Firewood available Cell service can be spotty, depending on your carrier. Free Wi-Fi is available and reaches most of the campground. Electric car charging is $10 per charge. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. So, it's a mix of town and country, village and farm, wilderness and bewilderedness. The pit toilet is just downhill from the camp at the end of a trail winding down through the meadow and to the right. There is private access to secluded swimming and fishing holes on the lower Salmon River down the meadow trail and to the left. A bridge provides shelter from rain if needed. The area is known for its world class steelhead fishing and is unparalleled in its natural beauty. The elk even stop by occasionally on a late winter/early spring morning if you are lucky enough to get the timing right… I hope you enjoy our most recently additions, tent pads on a nice deep bed of chips, and a dog run for your best friend!
