Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserv

I enjoyed my time here - the woods were pretty, there's lots of hiking right by the campsite, and warm showers are a nice touch. It feels pretty isolated, which I like - I didn't see the hosts the whole time I was there, and there were no other campers there when I was. There's a lot of wide open space and a lot of hiking trails - it's the woods! Felt like there were lots of opportunities for solitude. There's a structure right by the campsite that's clearly still being worked on, but luckily, no work was being done on it while I was there, so it wasn't a disturbance. The lake/pond was definitely dried up - would have been nice to swim considering how hot it was, but it's not far to plenty of swimming holes. The main criticism I'd give is the price point—$80 a night seems expensive for access to a place to set up a tent. I've seen plenty of "glamping" options on Hipcamp that provide a tiny house or a yurt for around that price. I think about half that price would be a much more reasonable offering.

Weekend Trip to Starry Hot Tub/Cold Plunge Glamping

Ellie and Jack are perfect hosts! They allow the guests to have privacy but they are responsive and helpful when needed. This was our second time here and both times we were really happy and relaxed. That’s the point of going glamping. The place is clean, the hot tub and cold plunge are lovely, relaxing, very nice set up, five star! We’ll be back next year! Thank you!

The directions were very helpful and the camp location around the meadow is truly magical and beautiful. We slept so well, we had lovely camp neighbors and Adam was helpful as a host. Also the cutest shower and outhouse toilets!

Weekend Trip to Hirst Horse Ranch

We all had so much fun camping next to the horses! Justin and Christina made a wonderful weekend for us with our two young kids. They enjoyed the pony rides and the trampoline over a sprinkler (it was hot for us Bay Area people), along with being around the horses, dogs, chickens, and frogs! We’d definitely return, and are already planning to visit our new horse (and people) friends at the renaissance fair!

My friends and I had a magical time on Chris & Rebecca's land. The views were amazing, we saw an owl, played ping pong, soared on the 40 ft tree swing, and got stellar recommendations from them on local swim spots. I felt comfortable being there as a queer trans person with my bay area artist friends.

Really beautiful place that's got a great layout. If you have kids and can swing it, I would recommend bringing bikes since there is plenty of safe dirt road riding and bikes make it easy to get back and forth to the river when it's super hot. Bring a small shade umbrella for the beach! All the sites are large and have beautiful views. Kris and Paul were really great about making sure folks had music off and were quiet by 10PM. Oh, river shoes are a MUST.

Absolutely amazing property. Myself and my girl were literally the only folks this last week. My advise is to screenshot driving directions because you won't have cell/GPS service, also I recommend arriving during daylight hours, almost impossible to find the sites in the dark. Beautiful hikes. Also if you see a golden lab female running around, FEED HER! she is a total sweetheart but will not let you touch her. Thanks for letting us enjoy your property, it feels like a very spiritual place. We will return this week if we are invited.

Nice and relaxing spot for a few days of quiet time. Outdoor shower was a bit wonky (large bag with a hose) and cumbersome but nothing too tough! The door looked like maybe a bear had tried to get in recently (which I actually think is cool, haha) and the fire pit was a nice place to relax in the cool evenings! Overall, rad spot!

The diva den was my old music studio and the main cabin is our family cabin. We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake. On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. The sauna and fenced-in dog area are near the shipping container site. The sauna has just been remodelled with a shower and bathtub right outside the sauna house. Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents. For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path at Beals Point that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports. At both locations, you will stay in 16ft deluxe tents. Each tent has 2 full beds in them. At Beals Point we offer "Luxury" Glamping with real furniture, cozy bedding, and all the amenities you need for a relaxing and fun filled stay for up to 8 people (AT BEALS POINT ONLY!). At both Beals Point and Peninsula, we also offer "Basic" Glamping, where we bring the tent and mattresses, and you bring the rest. This means that you need to bring your own sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, blankets and other camping essentials. Close by the sites are public restrooms with running water, drinking water, and showers. Hiking trails are found all around at both locations. HOME found me in late June 2019 after a two-year journey to get out of the city. Looking back, I feel like I left at the right time. This is our top-end accommodation a one bedroom cabin with its own small kitchen, bathroom and living room with a wood stove. A beautiful spot to check out. The sofa folds out into a queen size bed, can easily accommodate up to four people. The cabin has all basic amenities, kitchen, bathroom, etc. We are not pet friendly. "4 of us enjoyed our stay in the cabin. We made a simple, delicious dinner in the kitchen, enjoyed talking around the fire pit, slept, enjoyed a morning walk in the neighborhood, ate breakfast, and then headed out for an afternoon at the river. We chose the cabin, because our little adventure was only 1 night, which seemed too short for setting up a campsite. The cabin met our need perfectly. We had air mattresses and sleeping bags with us; 1 person used the double bed, and the other 3 opted to use air mattresses. I would happily return for another stay!" "This site definitely suited our needs for the weekend we stayed. Josh was very accommodating before we even showed up and was welcoming once we got there. It’s a great little retreat into the woods and convenient as far as being able to access Scott’s Flat Lake nearby. It is also nice and quiet at night so that is definitely a plus."

Welcome to Homestead Hideaway, an off-grid home site adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest. A mile and a half down a dirt road and 20 minutes to downtown Nevada City. Easy access to the Yuba River, Scotts Flat Lake, world class mountain biking trails, and rock climbing off Bowman lake road. Homestead Hideaway is a six acres of secluded forest living. Its home to an array of wildlife including owls, foxes, bears, coyote and dear as well as an abundance of trees and flora. The property is also our home. We, along with our dogs, live in the green Quonset hut that you will drive past on your way in. We steward the land and live simply to reduce our impact on this wild place. At 3,600ft and amongst the trees, you can expect much milder temperatures than in Nevada City- making for a pleasant respite during the heat of summer. Little Dear Creek is a 5 minute walk and has bathtub size pools to soak in. The yurt was made locally by Living Intent Yurt Co and installed in 2021. Inside you will find two twin beds that can be combined to make a king, a giant pillow lounge, dining table, games, and some tableware for eating and drinking. Attached to the yurt is a large heptagonal deck perfect for lounging and yoga. On the deck there is a foot-pump sink for handwashing and dishes, a counter for cooking and a propane BBQ. There is no electricity or traditional running water and plumbing. Expect a rustic camping experience with the luxury of a new yurt to stay in. This means no electricity, no shower and a simple compost toilet in an outhouse. There will be a 55 gallon drum full of water for the foot-pump sink to wash your hands and dishes. Pack out your trash and leave food scraps in the compost.

The back part of the property was a stop point for the stage line between Oroville and Bangor during the 1880, Then gold was discovered on the property. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, some Agates and quartz. Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! Drive right up to this fun-filled, family-friendly campsite, easily accessible by cars and SUVs alike - though 4WD is helpful during the rainy season. This site features two seasonal streams that cross on the property, as well as bushes full of ripe blackberries - if you catch them at the right time, help yourself. You'll enjoy hearing the birds echoing through the trees and could easily see deer tip toeing through the woods. Dogs on leash only. We raise 4H and FFA show and market goats, llamas, and a donkey and a cow, all of whom are very friendly! You'll also see our chickens, ducks, peacocks, and guinea hens. Rock pilings are on the island between the two seasonal streams that cross our land. Gold panning, hiking and creek walking is available on the property. Campers are welcome to stargaze in the field, create scavenger hunts for the kids, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquility. The streams dry up in late June and fill up in November when the rains start. Trank Family Farm is 30 minutes from Lake Oroville, 20 minutes from Oroville Wildlife Area and the Feather River - great for kayaking, swimming, and fishing! Be sure to check out the trails and seasonal waterfalls at Table Mountain, 35 minutes away. There are 2 Indian Casinos & Hotels in Oroville, as well as 2 golf ranges - and all with in 20 minutes of the camp site. The college town of Chico is about 30 minutes outside of Oroville. If you want to explore farther, Butte Mountain range and the city of Paradise, CA is 45 minutes away. We can't wait for you to come visit!

I have owned this property since 1999. It was built in 1953. Penn Valley is so named because this is where the pens were that they brought the cattle to sort and ship to Sacramento for auction. This property was the lodging area and still has one old bunkhouse, which is a current rental. It has the oldest, largest in ground pool left in Nevada County. The water rights have been with this property for over 80 years so sprinklers run all summer. We have great well water for the house and our campers. I currently breed stock dogs, and Dexter cattle here and ride and train horses. I have ridden and trained horses for over 50 years. It is a pretty active place with lots of work and coming and going. We do chores at about 8 am. Horses frogs and dogs are majority of disturbances. It is close to everything but in a very small community. No lodging near though. The horticulture here is very old, some originally brought from England. Most of it is let grow natural. There are two coffee houses nearby, Honey and Cream and Crazy 4 Yogurt. It is a 30 minute drive to the river. It is a 15 minute drive to historic Nevada City and beautiful downtown Grass Valley with wonderful shopping, local bars and both fine and casual dining. Empire Mine is a an exquisite park and historical site only 10 min away. Spenceville Wildlife Refuge is a great day adventure also. Guests are welcome to watch us work horses and take care of animals. We have 4 barn cats too. Things run pretty old school here still and casual. We enjoy our work, our animals, our simple life, nature and the land. Learn more about this land: Level small working horse ranch, pool, near all recreation in northern California.
