Nearly four acres close to town and amenities, yet quiet and secluded. Away from any major roads and on quiet nights, the fog horn from the Big River buoy can be heard. Wildlife on the property include piliated woodpeckers, deer, raccoons, jack rabbits, bears (keep your trash and food inside!), mountain lions, foxes, and of course, our resident ravens. Wild huckleberries and rhododendrons are abundant among the redwoods and fir. A beautiful spot to spend the night!

Bird watching, hearing ravens and hawks right here at our place making for an extra special vibe. We have two very friendly Great Pyrenees, 2 cats, 5 ducks and 10 chickens. Fresh farm eggs available. These animals are all located near the house, and not near the campsites. Directions: Please contact me for specific instructions on how to get here ahead of your arrival time. Weekend Trip to Comptche Matrix @ Sunny-land

I just got back from a lovely weekend at Sunny’s cabin with my two kids, and it was exactly what we needed. The cabin is tucked into the redwoods, quiet and peaceful, and it really felt like a little forest adventure for the kids. Our favorite part was sitting by the fire at night, talking and relaxing together. Sunny was a wonderful host. She was warm, responsive, and helpful whenever I had a question, but also gave us plenty of privacy. Her two friendly dogs were a huge hit with the kids and made the place feel even more welcoming. I left feeling rested, my kids had a great time, and I would happily come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, nature-filled getaway.

Great little spot to stay and a really communicative and helpful host! Other reviews have mentioned that the house felt damp - hate to break it to you but thats just kinda what its like in that part of CA in late fall and over the winter. I thought it was really well looked after and nicely equipped, and comfy enough for 3 to sleep in.

Sunny is so sweet and this place is so charming! I had a lovely time staying here while visiting Mendocino, which is about 40 mins away. There were a couple things I was anxious about - windey roads and the steep driveway to get down to Sunny’s land - but all turned out fine and she put me right at ease. The cabin itself is very cute, outdoor kitchen and shower well functioning, and the dogs kept me company when I was by myself at night!

we had a beautiful evening and great sleep at Sunny’s place! sunset and stars from the deck were stunning, bed was super comfy, and it was such a treat to make breakfast with eggs from the chickens :) the tiny cabin is near to the main house on the property but plenty of visual privacy and super quiet at night and into the morning. Sunny was super kind and helpful!

I loved camping in Sunny's spot! If you're looking for a secluded spot near the coast, you can admire the stars and hang out with dogs here - they are very polite - equipped with a full kitchen, shower and other amenities, would certainly be back for another great time.

We loved Sunnyland! The directions were clear and driving in was beautiful. We did have some trouble driving up (2wd) to leave but Sunny was super helpful and we made it out! We had a great time hanging out with the boys but still got our privacy. The land is breathtaking and the vibes are WONDERFUL. I can’t say enough great things!

My stay at Sunny land was absolutely lovely! The cabin itself is so cozy, with a deck and a gorgeous view. There's a kitchen -- sink, mini fridge, and propane stove, with dishes and soap provided. Cute working shower with hot water, and the outdoor toilet was intimidating, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be -- plus the view from it is beautiful. Chloe and Echo were very capable escorts around the site, and Sunny herself was so kind and sweet, and helped us navigate around the area a bit (we drove in to Mendocino and did the skunk train at Fort Bragg). Highlight of the trip was absolutely the stars! So many stars, I don't think I've ever seen so many in my life.

Serene Scenery ✅ Tranquility ✅ Clean Space ✅ Well Equipped Cabin ✅ Friendly & Gracious Host✅ Adorable Dog✅ Unforgettable Experience ✅ Everything I wanted for a much needed peaceful getaway was met. The vineyard is as it was described and more. Amazing backdrop to an adorable and quaint little home. The window on the top overlooking the vineyard made sunrises and sunsets really special. A beautiful vineyard and little gazebo you can tell lots of life was put into this place. Ceviche the dog was so sweet and gentle. Marek was especially friendly and attentive. Great conversations with him. Checked in on me once a day to make sure all was well. PRO: no mosquitoes! I was so happy to bring my own hammock and placed it under the big tree and loved picking some grapes hanging all over the big tree! What an amazing first Hipcamp experience. So many great locations I was looking into but something about that tiny home and pictures of the vineyard really called out to me and I am SOOOO happy I chose this place. It will be hard to choose other places for my next trip. I know I will be back.

Weekend Trip to Vineyard Camping at Bad Rat Ranch

My partner and I stayed in Marek's tiny home and couldn't have had a better experience. We soaked in the hot tub, strolled around the ranch, and grilled in the evening. Also, the tiny home has a great view from the loft, we woke up to stunning sunrises both mornings we were at the ranch! The landscapes were stunning, and super fun to paint. Marek was great company, and we enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about his ranch and adventures. To top it off, his dog Ceviche is the sweetest :)

We stayed at the Tiny house- my 7 yr old grandson and myself. Easy access to town (though we drove each time) and very workable to stay, grill over the fire, play darts. So nice to have plenty of firewood provided! Unlike some other reviewer, we heard NOTHING from the street, nor too close to other campers (though it was not full). Even the lighted pathway to drop toilet/ outhouse was clean and efficient. Lots of birds to listen to in the mornings and evenings. Sweet spot.

We had an amazing night at Marek's property. Both him and his dog were very friendly and welcoming. The tiny house had everything we needed for a night indoors after a few days camping. I just loved staying in The Tiny House. Both it and the cottage close by were really well appointed and well maintained. I spent a most restful and serene few days relaxing in the breeze by the green, berry-laden vines. So peaceful! Marek is a very generous and considerate host, with a ton of local knowledge - and I can highly recommend Bad Rat Ranch to fellow Hipcampers. There's something here for everyone. Thank you, Marek.
