Weekend Trip to May's Luxury Farmstays

This is a beautiful property!! It was so peaceful. We loved all the hens and roosters running around, they were so friendly. The koi pond is so cute with a nice deck and picnic table to eat or relax at. They even provided fish food, so that was cool. We also loved the mixture of rustic and modern in the cabin. There were tons of amenities like heated floors, fancy shower heads, pantry food, fresh eggs, full bar, fully stocked kitchen, and even stuff like swim toys, high chair, and pack n play for kids. I liked that both bedrooms had their own TV. And two full bathrooms was pretty sweet too! Comfy beds. Tons of extra pillows and blankets, even heated blankets. The deck had a fire pit and bbq, and even a sink. We didn’t get a chance to try the outdoor bathtub, but it looked relaxing! My only complaint is the living room furniture could use an update, the recliner part of the chair was broken, and the futon wasn’t the comfiest, but minor issue considering how awesome everything else about the place was. The owners were super accommodating, anything we needed they took care of right away. We felt very welcome there! And we already plan on coming back.

We really loved the atmosphere of the place, especially how serene it was. Naomi was really nice and welcoming, same with the rest of the crew of The Haven. It was an experience to get so close to an alpaca! We will definitely be back again!

We had a group of about 30 people and this campsite fit everyone comfortably! The property is beautiful—spacious, well-kept, and thoughtfully set up with just about everything you’d need for a great stay. It’s not quite glamping, but it’s definitely a step up from your typical camping experience. There’s a great balance of comfort and outdoor charm. One of the best parts is that it’s just a short distance from the beach, which made for some really fun and easy day trips. The only small downside was that a few of the dishes hadn’t been fully cleaned by the previous guests, but that was easy enough to take care of. Overall, a fantastic spot and we’d definitely come back!

We loved our stay at the Flying Pig BnB! The cabin was spacious for our little family and the bed was very comfortable. Our daughter loved meeting all of Kim’s animals and especially enjoyed feeding and petting them. She also thoroughly enjoyed all the play structures and toys that were available for us. Would recommend adding breakfast and nightly camp fire for s’mores! Highly recommend this place and we’d love to return!

Nancy was so welcoming and the place is very beautiful. The barn was full and she introduced us to theb other guests which helped facilitate conversations. The common areas are ripe for shared pleasant evenings and good conversations. The Grooms room is partitioned off from the Bridal roim. This means sound and light comes into the Grooms room from the Bridal room. I really enjoyed the couple and their dog, but one of them snored loudly and I could not sleep. The space felt private, but If the other room is booked you might get some unpleasant noise that just cant be helped even by the most polite of company. I would stay again, but maybe not when both rooms are occupied.

This is the perfect place to disconnect, relax and unwind. It was so quiet and close to nature. But they have wifi should you need it. Truly the ultimate balance between comfort and the outdoors. I bet the view is even more spectacular in the summer. All the things here are well thought of. They really have everything you need (and more) for a comfortable stay. From beddings, cooking equipment and utensils, tableware, toiletries (they smell so goood), towels, firewood, to the nice-to-haves like game boards, books, binoculars, flashlight, coffee, tea, eggs and even a radio! Their homemade seasoning is great! Literally, just bring clothes and food. I have zero athleticism in me and had no issues walking downhill to the tent. Anybody can do it. Just pack light! William is also very accommodating and happy to share information about the trees, plants and flowers around. Half Moon Bay is 20 mins away, so you can even go on a side trip to the beach. There are also other places to discover like wineries, breweries and local shops and restaurants. We are so glad we discovered this gem and will definitely be back.

This was a beautiful quiet cabin right on ridge-line of the Santa Cruz mountains. The host was accommodating and provided delicious fresh eggs, snacks, coffee, and beer. I would visit again. My kids enjoyed it. It was just right for 2 adults and 2 kids. The bed was very comfortable but I could not have slept on the foldable couch. Overall, I loved it.

i can’t even start with how incredible my time was in tent 1. even though the weather turned and i couldn’t see the ocean, the marine layer dripping on the tent and in the trees, it created a bit of extra magic. the tent itself was cozy and so well thought out with what they had inside amenities wise. i was warm all night, keeping the first going until bed and closing the damper a bit worked. i enjoyed the eggs provided for breakfast and some tea. the outdoor shower and bathroom were wonderful, especially since it wasn’t shared with the other tents. it was quiet. everyone was respectful of the noise policy. william and sana are exquisite hosts and im grateful for this overnight stay. i picked up some goodies from the tiny farm stand outside the gate and the cocoa is delicious and the wood burned fir a long time at a beer by state park. can’t wait to return. thanks for everything!

We are here in Gilroy Ca, on a rural 2 acres just outside of town, further up our road is Coyote Lake to go boating and fishing and Harvey Bear park to go hiking and horse riding. Santa Cruz is a 45 min drive West over hwy 152 and San Jose is 30 min North on 101 and keep going a bit more and you will be in San Francisco. Here at home we raise several different kinds of lives stock. Goats for meat and milk, Sheep for meat and wool and eventually milk, Pigs for meat, Rabbits for meat and hide, Chickens, Ducks and Quail for meat and eggs. We have a garden and small orchard with nearly a dozen fruit trees of different kinds : loquat, a few apples, plums, apricot, peach, fig, persimmons and my favorite the pomegranate! We process everything ourselves using ancestral techniques and love to share and learn with others. Id say the main draw back here is the traffic noise but beyond that, We are quite lucky to have very a green and Id say an oasis of a property, with multiple large palms trees surrounding the pool area and a large weeping willow tree in the main yard/sheep pasture. At the NE corner of the property is a very large oak tree, it is majestic and with the tipi door open to the East the big oak is the first thing you'll see every morning besides the suns rays! The entire Northern property line is rowed with 60ft tall redwood trees and there are a smattering of citrus trees around to boot! The freezer is stocked with in house meat, the BBQ is hot, the pool is cool, come relax after a day on the trails!

The kitchen and washer/dryer is Staff Only not for campers. . Most campsites allow 4-6 guests maximum with 1 car included in the nightly rate. Each additional vehicle is $15 per day and will be added at checkout once you add the correct number of vehicles you will be bringing. Pets are $10 per day, 1 pet per group ONLY. Please add this as an extra at the time of booking, you will see the option to add extras once you begin the checkout process. Dogs must be on leash at all times! Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. No drugs of any kind including marijuana allowed. No loud music allowed. This is a private property so no visitors are allowed, only paid guests. Both our treehouse and yurt listings are unique experiences. They both are adjacent to the Tierra Madre Vineyard Block and have awesome views of the entire Monterey Bay/Pacific Ocean. We are located on 44 acres high atop the Santa Cruz Mountains but close to all the major beaches and Silicon Valley. Please be aware this is camping in nature, along with squirrels, spiders, falling leaves, etc. and nature is not always for everyone. There is a 45ft. ladder to climb to get into the treehouse. The view at sunset is spectacular. Featured on the first page of top Glamping destinations in California, in National Geographic's 50 States, 500 campgrounds. Both sites include a trunk of goodies: Complimentary trunk of goodies that is filled with muffins, mugs, creamer, sugar, coffee, croissants, cards, champagne & wine glasses & wine opener! We acquired the property in 1991, shortly after the Lexington Fire (1985) and Loma Prieta earthquake (1989). At that time, the entire property has degenerated into disrepair, and all the vineyards had been overwhelmed by the wilderness. In 2011, we started the herculean effort of clearing away the wilderness, resurrecting all the vineyards and renovating our home. In 2014, we started replanting the vineyards, and opened our tree house to visitors in 2015. Just like us, I think you will fall in love with this property, and enjoy every minute of your time here. This campground is also a great setting for your celebrations with two stages, a celebration area, a stone fired pizza oven and a sound systems (These are extras). We also have two sites for Private Group Camping for RV and Tent camping if you want to have a separate area away from anyone else. They can accommodate at least 15 people. Please check out those sites if you plan to come in a group. If you bring your dogs or children we have a trail for you to stroll around the property in a natural setting. We purposely do not a lot of pictures to keep this place mystical and a secret gem. We'd like to WOW you when you get here. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. Don’t sit on chair edges or pool cover box. Use stumps or your own table for cooking (not ours). Keep the area clean—no food scraps on the ground. No dogs in the pool area; leashes and cleanup required. No eating in rooms or cabin. Check out on the deck. No smoking (vapes only, away from common areas). Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) protects open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all. Situated on top of a ridge with expansive redwood forest and coastal views, the Audrey Edna Cabin provides a completely private gathering place and destination for visitors with reservations. The cabin has spectacular views of forest, sky, ocean and the Butano ridgeline. It's a short hike to 8000+ acres of county parkland where you can hike, bike and ride horses (though please note, there are no facilities for horse boarding at the cabin.) The cabin is located at Alpine Ranch, a property adjacent to Sam McDonald County Park that was protected by Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST). Whether you are looking for an active experience or just want to relax in a peaceful, remote setting, there's something here for everyone. This is a rustic hike-in cabin designed for a introductory pack-in experience. Bedding is not provided. It is about a 1.7-mile hike on a rolling dirt road from the Sam McDonald County Park parking lot, with about 650 feet of elevation gain. Most hikers can reach the cabin in an hour or less. Guests should plan to arrive at least 2 hours before sunset, and pack water and flashlights or headlamps. Guests with limited mobility, please contact us for information regarding accommodations that will allow you to access this shared resource. *A note about reservation availability: On the weekends, POST offers priority reservations for the cabin to our partners at the San Mateo County Health Department and Park Rx to provide patients with equitable access to the benefits of nature. Property History: At one time, the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains was a thriving center for trade between tribes of the coast and the bay, which we still find evidence of today in cultural sites and artifacts throughout the region. Native people have cared for this land since time immemorial, including the local Muwekma and Ramaytush Ohlone who are still active in the area today. This property specifically is host to a tributary to one of just a handful of waterways that support salmonids in this region, which are a species of tremendous importance to native people. Over 1000 acres here were eventually purchased by entrepreneur Ridgeway Rowley, who built a home on the ranch in the 1880s as part of an unsuccessful wedding proposal to Fannie Page, daughter of a local mill owner (ever heard of Page Mill Road?) After being rejected by Fannie, Rowley operated the ranch for a decade in conjunction with his work as District Attorney and publisher of the Palo Alto Weekly, before eventually returning to his hometown of Cortland, NY, where he lived as a bachelor until his death. Over the course of the 20th century, the ranch was divided, some parts of which became Pescadero Creek County Park. POST purchased the 350 acre home property, now called Alpine Ranch, in 2012 through our Heart of the Redwoods campaign, an initiative to protect 20,000 acres of Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Alpine Ranch borders Pescadero Creek County Park and Sam McDonald County Park, adding to the area’s protected open space and containing more than a mile of tributaries to Pescadero Creek, which flows year-round and is a major spawning stream for steelhead trout. The Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch is situated at one of the property's most scenic overlooks. The cabin was built in the early 1900's, and completely reconstructed up to modern building codes by POST in 2018 so that all could enjoy this special place.
