The Rainbow Junction offers a unique camping experience at the intersection of Mines Road and HWY 130 in the San Antonio Valley. We operate a restaurant and we offer camping friendly meals for guests. We love the wildness of this property and do not allow cars or vehicles beyond the parking lot. All of our sites are hike in sites. It's about a 1/4 mile hike on a small foot path. We have a wagon available for guests to use and we are happy to help you carry your things. We host a communal fire pit in the evenings, weather permitting, for all guests to enjoy, we do not allow open fires on the property. Cal Fire has requested that all campers get a permit, even to operate a gas stove. Our swimming pond is about a 3/4 mile hike through brush from the restaurant but is a great way to beat the heat during the day! Campsites have a picnic table. Water from our well is always available outside of the restaurant and bathrooms with running water are available during business hours. There is a fire trail along one of our ridge lines that offers stunning views of the San Antonio Valley as well as our abundant wildlife. We sometimes host speakers and educational workshops and guests are always welcome to participate in events. Very peaceful. John is a great host. He took time to meet me upon my arrival and ensure I got into my spot ok. Site #1 was perfect for my travel trailer. I was able to pull right in and get set up easily without having to back up my trailer. The grounds are very well maintained and there is lots of open area to walk my dog. It is mostly under the trees. I do have solar and although I don’t think it was able to charge, I had plenty of power for my 4 night stay so it was not an issue for me. I would definitely stay there again.

Great quiet spot! The drive up had me take a very narrow road that I had to back up on so opposing traffic could pass- on my way out it took me on a wider road- just be aware if you’re on the narrow road to go slow and if on weekend be prepared to see tons of cyclists. I’m surprised time went by so quickly! I messed up and thought I booked a second night and it didn’t go through, so the hipcamper who came and Rebecca the host were very gracious about it and let me stay a second night anyways (thank you both!). Would definitely come back again. I didn’t use the porta potty- but it’s great that they offer it! The weather was beautiful and clear, warm even towards the end of November. Very damp at night as others have said, so kept things inside that can’t get wet. Had a great, peaceful time!

I had a wonderful stay here. The silence, stars, multitude of birds (including Sandhill Cranes!), water, and joyful farm animals were restorative for my soul. The rustic and charming cabin was delightful with a window view of splendid sunsets, cool art and stylistic decor, an efficient heater, and a spacious bathtub. The hosts were gracious, responsive, welcoming, and thoughtful; they went above and beyond in making sure my stay went well.

Always a dream to camp with my family at Slide Ranch. My son has been camping here since he was a toddler so he feels right at home. We set up camp and immediately headed down to the tide pools as the sun set. Warm and clear, though it was a windy start to the night so come prepared with layers and tent stakes. As we headed out, my son asked if we could promise to come back more often 💚
