There is no end to the beauty, history and adventure all around the property. Life took us to the Kern River Valley after moving out of Los Angeles. We enjoy living in the Southern Sierras immersed in all its natural beauty. The small but magnificent town of Kernville is approximately two and a half miles north of us. Our livestock includes horses, dairy goats, sheep, and rabbits: Most of which are raised and bred as our son's 4H or FFA projects. You may be wondering why our farm is called "Underworld Farms". In a nutshell, since our ranch is on the footprint of the historic town of Whiskey Flat, we just happen to be south of the old Whiskey Flat "Boot Hill" Cemetery. Our "driveway" is the road that led from the old town of Kernville to the cemetery. We hope that you consider parking your RV, van conversion, or trailer on one of our customized spots on the property. Or drive your vehicle and pitch a tent on one of our tent friendly sports. Or enjoy a stay in one of our small cabins. Regardless of what you stay in, you will definitely have a memorable time. The campground is VERY barebones and rural. Critters, bugs, and sometimes fellow Hipcampers can be sparce or prevalent pretty randomly. Because Underworld Farms is a working ranch, you will probably hear livestock noises like horses neighing, sheep and goats calling, and our protector dogs barking from time to time. We encourage you to walk over to the horses and goats and meet them. They especially like when you bring them carrots or apple pieces. The ranch has a double outhouse with a hand washing station sandwiched in between, it is rustic and bare bones. We check it to see if it has paper products, soap, water, and plenty of room in the trash bins. During the hotter months, the "daddy longleg" spiders enjoy infiltrating the outhouses and seem to spin new webs overnight. But they and their webs are harmless and easy to brush off. We ask for your assistance if there is something missing, or the trash needs taking out, or if the spiders have taken over again by getting ahold of us through the Hipcamp App and letting us know. With all that being said, there is an ambient beauty here that is unbelievable and memorable. This beauty and draw is so powerful that it causes the many people who come visit to make arrangements to live in our little valley. There is much to do in and around our valley that you couldn't do it all in a lifetime. We hope that you come and stay at the ranch while enjoying our valley. PLEASE read all of the below before booking and screenshot/print the directions below. Please note we have different site types with different prices and capacities. Choose the type that's best for your group. We are outside of Bear and Marmot areas, so no Bear cans needed here. However, we are not far away and nature is wild and can be unpredictable sometimes, so please keep food in your car at night as a precaution. We have not had issues and we don't want to invite any! Hot showers, flushing toilets, deep sinks for washing and WIFI (over 70 mps in many places for you teleworkers) now available for all campers at no extra charge! ARRIVAL: THERE ARE 3 GATES HERE: RIGHT GATE: just to the right of the Giant Sequoia Tree with address sign, goes to the CAMPSITES! Look for ORANGE CONES a few feet off the highway and drive down camp road about 600 feet to the camp. MIDDLE GATE: RV1 and RV2 LEFT GATE: house, please DO NOT ENTER this gate or the house. DIRECTIONS: If you put our address in to navigation apps, sometimes it brings you to our neighbors (fire department) for some reason, even after multiple emails to google...if this happens come south/down hill about 600 feet and look for the ORANGE CONES on the same side of the road. Drive between them and down camp road to your site! (There is a pic of the site map in the posted pic's) Go to Google Maps (NOT GOOGLE SEARCH). Search for Sequoia Mountain Farms Campground. Navigator apps sometimes push folks coming from the south up the 245 highway. It is a very windy and slow climb up the hill. It is doable (even for bigger rigs), but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND continuing north on highway 99 towards Fresno and then heading east on highway 180 up the mountain. It's faster, much more scenic and a much smoother drive. This route also goes right by the nearest gas station on your way up! Heading east on highway 180, out of Fresno, the last gas station is a Valero at 35468 E Kings Canyon Rd. (aka Clingan's Junction). From Clingan's, head east on the 180 for exactly 13.8 miles to the 245 highway (it comes up quick with only 1 or 2 small signs), make a right, heading south. If you hit the park entrance, you went too far, turn around drive back about 5 min and look for the 245 on your left. Once on the 245 heading south, go 5.1 miles. On your right you will pass the 'Pinehurst Lodge', which is on google maps, an easy reference point and is 1 minute or less away (great food, bar, pool table and karaoke on weekends in the summer!). Then a few seconds later the U.S Forest Service "Work Center" is on the right and we are just past that on the same side of the road. First you will see a Giant Sequoia Tree in the front yard (campground road is just to it's right with ORANGE CONES on either side) then an apple ranch with an ole loggers cabin chimney from the late 1800s still standing in the front yard directly off the highway! If you hit the 'leaving sequoia national forest' sign and the community center, you went too far, turn around and drive 1 minute back and look for the apple ranch on your left, pass it and turn left at the ORANGE CONES. Please take note of the posted pics from directly across the street facing what you will see when you get here. PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER: If you ask us about weather, were just going to have to look online too, so please be sure to check it yourself prior to your trip, before asking us to do it for you. Just know we are operating under the assumption that you are aware of the conditions and are prepared for them. If nature happens message us and we will do our best to assist! Our ranch is a 5 acre walnut grove, of which there is a dedicated RV/Camp site that is fenced off and landscaped for your outdoor country/farm life experience. Within the site there is a fire pit for you to enjoy an evening fire. There is 30/50 Amp power hook ups for an RV’s, Motor homes, and Travel Trailers, as well as water hook up/supply. (50 AMP Customers are subject to an additional $10.00 fee per night) There is a grassy area with shade trees to enjoy some outdoor comforts while staying at the campground. There is a private driveway that leads from the main road directly to the camp site. Easy parking, plenty of outdoor space within the campground that is 70 feet wide and 60 feet deep. The parking site is fully landscaped with grass trees and parking is on rock for a clean experience. The campsite is located in the quaint town of Exeter Ca. A must see for all travelers. Exeter is a well kept town that is known for its beautiful murals throughout the town. This campground is great! Awsome views, great location, quiet and private. There was power and water for use. Plenty of flat areas for your tent and personal camp toilet. About 15 mins from the kings canyon gate and 1hr from general sherman tree. Nearest gas station and coffee shop is about 20 minutes away.

This is Pull Through encampment 4 where you can see the private firepit you will be able to use when camping here.

Great place to camp at. Wanted to go somewhere calm for my first solo trip and it did not disappoint. The views are amazing you have cell reception and are so close to amazing hikes and places to see. It’s definitely more of an RV or sleep in your car kind of spot so if you are in a tent I would probably bring a sleeping pad. Again great place loved my time there!

Awesome hosts! They were very accommodating and even brought out their small excavator to build us a bigger fire pit. It was awesome and so much fun. There were also horses and sheep roaming around and Timber (their dog) was a wonderful guide around the property.

Fantastic stay on Michael’s land! Very remote and quiet. I had zero issues with mosquitos, wasps, bees, etc. The water and electrical hook up was a huge plus. If you’re looking for something off the grid that’s close to sequoia and kings canyon, this is your spot!

This place is magical. It's not fancy by any means but has all the elements to make a person (me) dipping their toe into camping feel at once rugged yet comfortable. You can camp in the wilderness, yet are not too far from a potable water source, grills, shower, and even a fridge where you can store perishables. Matt, the owner is so friendly and kind and it felt like we had been long time friends. I camped here for two nights with my 5 year old and he absolutely loved running around and exploring the grounds. Camp Ikigai is a true labor of love and I can wait to come back.

The location is so wonderful that we don’t need drive far away from King’s Valley where still enjoy the environment of the green. Cyndi is very generous host to allow the guests to use washrooms inside the lodge, and she well treated us the nice pancake and coffee in the morning while there was a power outrage.

Weekend Trip to Camp Hye Sierra

Beautiful! Came after a rain storm and were the only people there. It was cold but felt amazing especially after closing in summer. Set up under the overhang and it was awesome. Nice and out of the way from everybody at the national parks. But it is still close enough to spend all day and explore both parks. Plenty to do and not too far from a gas station and some cool coffee spots. Will definitely be back again

This was a piece of heaven on earth! I am a single Mom to my four adopted girls. Animals and connection in nature is a source of comfort and emotional peace and security to my children. They were welcomed at Camp Ikigai by the host and all the animals. It was a much needed weekend of solace and peace and excitement!
