Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

It is single story with all open beam ceilings, wood floors throughout and hiking right out the door to miles and miles of trails! Really beautiful and very rustic! It could use a crew to do a litter sweep, and fix some of the picnic tables and toilets. One of the sections is near a shooting range, which is unnerving. But overall, the property is serene, private, and peaceful. We’ll be back.

I loved camping at Fatima's site in Riverside. It was one of favorite

What a magical little place, and SO close to LA. I had a great weekend getaway with my 8 year old golden retriever. The bus was very charming, we were given water, and Brian even graciously left ice. We had firewood on site which helped not having to try to cram another thing in the car. The location is such a fun historic snapshot of an old summer camp, I did some exploring but wish I had the time to do even more.
I'd absolutely come back! One thing I'd do a little different, depending on the season I'm sure, is there's quite a bit of gnats swarming around. I'll come back with my canopy and have some nets around it to build a little safe zone around the picnic table.
I brought an electric off road bike with me, and I definitely recommend bringing some kind of bike to take the dirt roads for exploring! So much fun.

I loved camping here and they were amazing hosts!! We forgot coffee mugs and they brought us coffee mugs from their house. They have friendly dogs and chickens and all sorts of goods down by their house. The site is nothing to write home about, but large and spacious. The no fires rules makes a lot of sense given how dry it is here. The location is awesome, 15 minutes away from lake gregory which is great for trout fishing. (Pro tip use garlic power bait on a carolina rig) The site is about 30 minutes from arrowhead. 10/10 stay loved everything about it and can’t stress enough how kind the hosts were!! Would stay here again anytime.
