It's so nice to "meet you" my name is Taryn and my hubby's name is Anson. We are parents to two-year-old twins, so saying we have our hands full is an understatement. Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled
all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees.
Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Previously the farm had been let go and now our duty is to get it back in shape. We are making steady progress and fall in love with the land more everyday. Currently we are also planting about an acre of lavender which should be a beautiful backdrop come 2024. Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. (Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: *Temporarily tastings are shut down.*
Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

You truly feel like you're in the high Sierras just 1.5 hours from Los Angeles. Big Bear Lake is a 45 minute drive away.

Great camping site right on the lake! There's potable water and the porta potty was really clean. The dock was perfect for fishing and for tying up our inflatable raft. The host left firewood for us (which we didn't end up needing since it was perfect weather every evening). Directions and codes to the gate and porta potty were very clear.
The view of the lake was amaaaaazing!
We had a great time and would come back again!

Very nice space for a simple campsite. We wanted to get away from the town/city, as the location provides mountains and some homes nearby. The host, Garth, was very kind and communicative. Always messaging us with updates and was transparent. I would say the campsite is on their land, so their home is next door. We had the opportunity to be the only campers on the property, which was a plus, since the campsites are less than 10 feet apart. A neighbor had a party until 2 a.m., which was unexpected and beyond the host's control. We did not have the best quality of sleep. Besides that, we still had a wonderful time on their site! :)

The campsite offers beautiful views and plenty of privacy. We were the only group there, which made it feel peaceful and secluded. The host was responsive and helpful when we had questions.
However, the last mile of road to the campsite was extremely rough and steep. It was challenging for regular vehicles and may cause concern for drivers who are worried about vehicle clearance or potential wear and tear. We recommend arriving during daylight and using caution on the final approach.
The campsite itself is fairly basic with limited amenities, but the scenery and privacy make up for it if you enjoy a rustic camping experience.

Great water for chilling in a river-tube & fishing. LOTS of fish! Be aware that there is a LOT of flying bugs (June 2026, did NOT get bit!). Overall would book again!!

This is a gorgeous ranch with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The scenery is stunning, with hiking options throughout the property. We saw rabbits, lizards, and an owl during our walks. Our site was private and quiet, with a wood burning stove for cooking, and a stone's throw from a FANTASTIC (hotel quality) bathroom. The site even has misters threaded into the pergola that you can turn on to keep you cool on hot days. Rich, the ranch owner and our gracious host, made us feel very welcome upon arrival. He gave us an awesome tour of the property, including how they make olive oil from their olive orchard. We had a great stay and we thank you, Rich, for sharing the property with us!

Just as lovely as pictured, pup-friendly, and very peaceful. Decor is true to period, almost like a time capsule. Showed photos to my extended family and we can’t wait to book both of Jami’s cabins for a family getaway! Excellent trout fishing nearby at jenks lake and opportunities in the river by the cabin. Truly a gem!

I had such a nice little get away :) I had never been camping alone before so wanted somewhere relatively local and not too into the wilderness to give it a go. Arrived to a nice clean paved little site which I really appreciated since I have just a small sedan not meant for off roading at all. I opted for the stove and the fire pit which Garth had set up ready to go! He came out to check in with me when I got there and fortunately I did not need any assistance this trip but had I needed it I know would’ve been taken care of! Not a ton of shade and it did get warm but there was plenty of breeze! The Pepper spot had a beautiful view, I also set my tent up in front the tree with flowers under it which a hummingbird frequently visited, probably my favorite little perk :) yes, you’re clearly on someone’s property lol but with a little effort that can stay mostly out of view and it’s a beautiful property anyways so I don’t see any cons personally. I would stay here again happily :)
