Weekend Trip to Thundering Hawk Retreat

We booked this trip on a last minute whim and the host was very responsive through text. Upon arrival Daniel greeted us and showed us to our campsite. He made sure we had everything we needed and the site was to our liking. He even came back once night fell and made sure we were set. He made sure to tell us about all of the other amenities they have available if needed. (Lamps, propane tanks, fresh sheets, etc.) 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to camp. We can’t wait to come back! (Give Daniel a raise he’s the best 😂)

I loved Namaste farms and would definitely recommend it. It was fun to see and interact with all the animals. Hanging out at the farm throughout the day with the dogs and puppies was peaceful and relaxing. Sean was a great host, checking to make sure everything was going well. I plan to be back in the near future.

My first time using Hipcamp and a little apprehensive. Could not have chosen a more wonderful location. Starters, Jacob has one heck of a concept. The location is set on an organic farm between the trees and natural flora. The A-frame that I stayed in was simple yet exquisite. The whole one side opens up, so that it creates an awning over the small deck attached to that side. So peaceful and quiet. The A-frame I stayed in had no electricity which added to the experience. privacy YES. The kitchen is a professional stocked kitchen placed outside covered by corrugated galvanized steel. with a sitting area. All you have to bring is the groceries. Also has a wood fired open. Beautifully set up. Bathrooms are designed for an out door experience. A vanity between the porcelain commodes. Vanity is nice Fully stocked. Each commode is private. And behind this is an outdoor shower. Now that's an intoxicating experience. you want to stay showering for hours. Met Jacob and Gertie. Jacob is just a down to earth guy enjoying life with his companion. Gertie is a sweetheart!!! ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE EXPERIENCE !! Will be returning.

I loved the whole experience! The host is very nice and asked how we were doing and if we needed anything when we met her at the store both days we stayed. I must say that the cute van is more for a couple only. I went with my two daughters, as Hipcamp allowed to reserve for 3 people and I thought there was space for three. The host offered to move somewhere else but we decided to stay there because we arrived late and we are tiny anyways lol. It’s very private! Toilet accesible 2 minutes walk, not so far away. The site has its own fire pit, so it was perfect for a s’mores night :) we added the e-bike experience and went around the property for 1.5 hours. It was beautiful to bike before the sunset! Also, we enjoyed some time with the goats and alpaca that were chilling by the camp store. They go everywhere and they are very friendly! Also the two dogs are super friendly. You can see Jackrabbits and many different birds. If you like animals and nature and going off grid, this is your place to go :)

Dome Home under the Queen Palms is a "must stay" for those who are looking for a unique glamping experience. My husband loved using the (propane) barbeque grill to prepare a scrumptious dinner. Even though we brought along our own sauces and spices, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that there were already quite a few salts, spices and oil in the cabinet. Please note that if you need to use sugar or honey, you must bring along your own as there is only artificial sweetener available. (This is completely understandable as storing sugar in the cabinet would only attract unwanted ants and other insects.) We used the utensils provided, to cook a hearty breakfast in the morning and I used the French Press to make coffee. There is a kettle to boil water and tea bags in case you enjoy English Tea or Green Tea... The Dome has a bunk bed to sleep in and the lower bed is larger than the upper one. The mattresses are extremely comfortable alongwith the bed covers and we didn't need to use our comforters which we had carried along. Maybe during the winter months you would need your own comforters. I would recommend however taking your own pillows, especially if you know that you would only sleep well on your own pillow. At night solar lights come on to brighten the dining area which is a long wooden table with wooden benches on either side. The restroom area a a little walk away from the Dome. We carried a bottle of water to pour down after peeing each time, to keep odors away.

Loved camping here, hosts were super nice and the trailer was very cute and within walking distance of the beach and fun parts of town. The camper is very nicely updated and the site itself has plenty of privacy and all kinds of tools and dishes for cooking on-site as desired. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there another time if I'm in Oceanside again.

Bailes Farm

One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). On my 60 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.

Know, you're supporting a 501c3 charity and all the revenue goes to support the animals.This booking is for the Treehouse, and while it's only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres, and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs and California Ranch Company. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all ~ 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, UBER is only too happy to come here and pick you up! If you're not interested in any activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. At night, enjoy the sounds of serenity.

Plenty of onsite parking. In the morning, grab your coffee and step outside to watch the hot air balloons drift overhead. During the day, sample local vino from the 50 nearby wineries. In the evening, nosh at one of the great restaurants in Old Town Temecula, and then return to camp for sunset views and fireside relaxation. You should know that there are two free-roaming Blue Heelers who live on the 5-acre property and make regular visits to the camp area. Visiting dogs that socialize well with other dogs are welcome by us and by Molly and Taz as well, but please be honest with yourself and us about your dog's temperament, and book elsewhere if there is ANY chance of canine conflict with our very energetic pups. Also, Molly does not trust very small children (we think there was an incident), so if you have small children, we ask that you keep them from interacting with our Heelers.

Plush bedding (2 full size real mattresses that can comfortably sleep up to 4 people) and towels, full private & luxurious bathroom, fridge, microwave, dishware, heating and cooling, shag carpet, Wi-Fi, electricity to charge your devices, & ample food delivery is available in the area. A truly magical & memorable experience right in the heart of Hollywood! To get to the Glamp, please bear in mind there are quite a lot of stairs to get up the hill so please pack light, but once you arrive, the view is completely worth it! Your own private oasis tucked on top of a private residence with keyed lock gates, so it is completely safe & secure for your belongings if you choose to go out on the town during your stay!Glamping Hollywood Hills is located in a quiet neighborhood in the hills so while the goal is for guests to enjoy themselves and have the best experience possible, I do ask that you please be respectful of the neighbors and keep the noise down. If you're looking for a more turned up experience, there are loads of bars and clubs just a short walk away on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Also, because this is located in the Hills, it is a HIGH FIRE ZONE so no grilling (since we are so centrally located, there are numerous food delivery services that deliver all hours of the day though!) or fires are allowed. I take a lot of pride in my space and keeping it clean, and absolutely love hosting guests, so I just ask that you have the same respect back for my space and leave it like it was when you arrived. If your primary focus is on amenities, and you're looking for a completely dust/dirt, cobweb/bug, and animal/animal sound free experience, a working farm is probably not a good fit for you. We are dog friendly, but to keep our free range animals safe (and we have had them injured or killed by people not recognizing that dogs are predatory by nature), please keep your dog easily under control and on a short leash at all times. Also, because it's not possible to control your dog on a long line, dogs may NOT be tied or tethered anywhere on the property. For the sake of the antique furniture, do not leave your dog alone in the cottage unless they are crate trained and in a crate. If you want to let your dog off leash, 2 blocks down our road (and off property), there is a large scrub field where you can let your dog run free. Thank you for supporting this 501c3 charity where all the revenue goes to support the animals and the large number of dogs we foster from high kill shelters. This booking is for the Hay Barn cottage located at Namaste Farms in the heart of Temecula's Wine Country. This is a beautiful and quiet (with the exception of animal/farm sounds) private working farm situated down a wide and maintained disintegrated granite/dirt rd. While the cottage is only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all within 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, and if you want to peruse all of them, we can arrange a driver for you (30.00/hour) who will drive (Jaguar) and take you anywhere within Temecula/Murrieta while happily waiting for you so you can quickly go to your next destination. If you're not interested in any of the above activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. At night, enjoy the sounds of serenity while roasting marshmallows at our wine barrel fire pit! The "Hay Barn" cottage is a studio with high ceilings, a beautiful stained glass window, a kitchenette and a rustically chic bathroom. The Hay Barn sleeps 3; one queen bed with a twin pull out. Please let us know ahead of time if you need the pullout and you MUST put the accurate number of people who are staying here. If you have more people in your group and don't want to share, please check out the main cottage, Hammie and the Treehouse in separate listings. Please keep in mind that we are not a "pretend farm" set up to simply attract people to our facility. This is an actual working farm where shepherdess, Natalie Redding (Nat Geo Wild's, Shear Madness) and her working dogs, Lacey, Lad and Nesta work every day. This means there is dirt, dust, chickens, peacocks, alfalfa, sheep, bugs, and other living beings associated with nature and farm life. People who've not had the opportunity to experience the beautiful and grounding life on a working farm may not understand this. I do stress that if you're an animal lover who is excited about staying at a true working farm, your co-guests may not share your verve. Please let them know there is dirt, dust, very little concrete or pavement, and they will surely leave with dust on their shoes. I was introduced to the delights of Glamping at El Capitan in Santa Barbara which was amazing and I wanted to stay there forever!! -- BUT with a busy city life of raising kids and building my own small food business -- I wanted to jump from Glamp-life to City-life (and back again) with more ease and share it with others. In my opinion, the beauty of So-Cal living is that you can literally spend the morning surfing in Malibu and that same evening find yourself skiing in Big Bear! (After 25 years of living here -- that reality still amazes me) To mirror this unique juxtaposition - at La Boheme, you will find a tranquil Safari Tent Glamping experience - with hiking/biking trails and all sorts of outdoor activities anywhere from a 5 minute walk to 30 minutes away by car---- but you can also hop on the Gold Line train (which is a 1 minute walk out the back door) and in choosing one direction, you are a couple of stops from Chinatown or Downtown LA's rich cultural experiences & exciting nightlife. If you decide to explore in the other direction, Metro's Gold Line (in 1 stop) will take you to the heart of Highland Park's bustling scene - offering a smorgasbord of eateries, coffee-shops, speakeasies, boutiques, yoga studios and art galleries - including LA's oldest bowling alley: Highland Park Bowl. Take the train further and you're in the heart of glorious Pasadena (home to The Rose Bowl and exceptional Norton Simon Museum)-- or continue out to beautiful Sierra Madre -- where there is hiking and exploring galore! At La Boheme you can grill onsite, order take-out, dine out, stay-in and book a personal masseuse (that will change your world!) You can find places to hike, bike, play tennis, come back and shower (with hot water) - enjoy some bubbly with your honey on the deck -- take the train downtown to catch a concert at the Staples center -- Uber back - light the chiminea -- roast a s'more or two and crawl into your super comfy REAL bed in your REAL Safari Tent! Remember -- this is URBAN Glamping -- a friendly reminder that there can be normal city noises throughout your stay -- like a Fire Engine answering a call - or the train running behind the property -- or a kid crying in the apartment next door. It happens. Life happens. Of the several people who have already enjoyed the Glamping experience of La Boheme -- normal city noise/life hasn't dampened the experience at all-- only made it more intriguing! There is both a fan for air circulation and/or "white noise" as well as a heater, if you should need either of them. Plenty of extra blankets are available as well as a cot if you are a booking for 3 guests. La Boheme also is a venue for weddings and other events -- so we love hosting and want to do whatever we can to make your stay the best it can be for you! Splitrock Farm Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 200 foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital.
