At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. You can pitch a tent on the deck or on several cleared spots on the ground. JT national park is a 15 minute drive and there’s a corner mart nearby. Fishing is currently closed. Pet owners will be pleased to know that their furry friends are welcome, but there will be an additional fee added to the reservation. Wi-Fi is provided by a third-party company and a separate service fee applies. Please note that we cannot guarantee the speed, rate, or troubleshooting of the Wi-Fi service. For your convenience, a wash station for dishes is available on-site, and the Joshua Tree Laundromat is located 9 miles away in downtown Joshua Tree. For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. In the event of high winds, campfire, and BBQ use may be suspended for safety reasons.

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. In the event of high winds, campfire, and BBQ use may be suspended for safety reasons.

Camp Debs Place was an amazing Site. If you are a first time camper or someone that doesnt enjoy full on camping (No Shower, No Bathroom, No Amenities), this is the place to be. Deborah has everything you need, full running shower, full running bathroom, sites big enough for large parties, and even a coffee room! Everything was so clean as well. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would 100% come back. Debroah was very attentive to our needs and responded with in a timely matter when we had questions.
Only downside is the site being close to one of the main roads, so it does get a little noisy with cars driving by in the middle of the night. But, other than that, 10/10!

This cabin was everything I needed and more for a quick weekend of hiking and exploring Joshua Tree. Coming from out of state, I was able to roll in with my carry on and still have the camping-esque weekend of campfires and picnic table lounging that I was looking for. The main host is so kind, helpful to work with, and was prompt to reply to questions I had.
The place looked just as it does in the photos here and I thought the blankets and bedding far exceeded my expectations for a “dorm” hostel in the desert. The only thing I might add would be hooks. I lucked out and had the place to myself, but had there been others sharing the space, places to hang things would be really helpful in keeping the space organized.
I’d definitely recommend this hostel and consider staying again when I’m in the area :)

Amazing property and exceptional service from Tao and everyone at The High Desert Protocal. We stayed in the Silverstreak and loved how vintage it was. We felt like we we're back in the 70's in the best way. All the amenities, dog friendly, communal kitchen, clean bathrooms and shower, beautiful pool and hot tub, hiking footsteps away I really can't say enough. Perfect getaway from the city BS. We can't wait to come back

It is a warm cozy retreat with all the necessities to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend a vehicle with decent ground clearance. We took a jeep. Joshua tree national park is a must see place. Careful of the two chairs on the porch they look like they have been there a while

Amazing location. Feels really remote despite not being, so much. Dark skies, beautiful sunsets. I stayed in the Gallery and was super comfortable there for a week. The hot tub was excellent.

We had the best time at Camp Deb’s Place! It is truly one of the most kid-friendly spots we’ve ever stayed at. Even though we brought our own travel trailer, Deb had everything available and thoughtfully set up for families.
You can tell she really thinks through the little details that make a stay easier and more fun with kids. The bus with the game room and table was such a hit…it added a whole extra layer of fun and made the experience so unique.
We felt so comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommend for families looking for a stress-free, memory-making getaway!

I stayed at Deb’s campground 2 nights. It was a great experience. Deb has put a lot of thought and effort into creating a positive, comfortable experience for her guests. There is a restroom and shower, which makes camping so much easier. Although we didn’t use it, there is a large outdoor kitchen with everything you need to cook your meal. Overall, it was a positive experience and I’d definitely return.
