The Australian healeris very friendly. The Anatolian shepherd is a watch dog so he will bark at you upon arrival and then settle down and leave you alone. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. Propane and briquette BBQ, fire pit, city water safe for drinking, plenty of parking. We are conveniently located on Route 4 so campers should expect some noise, however the road quiets down around at night and -- except for the occasional loud vehicle -- it gets pretty serene here during the star gazing hours! The tent camping area is fenced and we have not had any bears on the property, but we do have a few shy farm cats and the occasional racoon. For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road.

If you are looking for man made and leveled campsites, then this is not your basecamp. This land is a gorgeous 20 acres that means a lot to us. It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry. Aside from complimentary ice water, potty, shower, soaps, sanitizer, sunscreen, first aid, communal fire pit, wood stove and dishwashing area) this is not "glamping". The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. So peaceful! I'd love to see it in spring when the almonds are blooming. All I could hear was cows mooing in the distance and one coyote howl. It was a great stopover for a couple nights. To find it, you turn right onto a small gravel drive off of Crocker. If you get to W. Undine you've gone too far. The pad is covered in largish chunks of recycled concrete. My car and little camper handled it fine, though. There is water, 30A & 50A power and sewer. Bring drinking water, because even with an inline filter the water came out rusty. If you get a chance, stop by the office and pick up some raw walnuts and excellent biscotti.

Weekend Trip to The Foxes Family Farm

What an amazing place to stay! We did a spontaneous honeymoon getaway trip right after our wedding (no plans just spontaneous decision making) so we decided on staying at the foxes getaway and it did not disappoint. The apple turnovers are to DIE for and the house was adorable. We did have our two little doxies with us and they loved being able to graze the yard. The cute little town of galt was nearby and we explored the area (great ice cream). Otherwise, it was a beautiful place to stay and the couple who lives there was welcoming as well as kind. I couldn’t have been happier with the decision. Tips for those who want to visit: fridge space is small so be considerate of that and it’s a tiny home so don’t bring too much luggage.

Sierra Circles was wonderful! I had the camping area to myself due to the time of year and it was the perfect blend of a quiet experience in the woods that I was looking for and close enough to Murphy's to be able to pick up a few supplies. Check in was super easy and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed for about 4 months, we loved it. Jaqueline was very friendly and they have the best pecans and walnuts that you can purchase! The only problem was the rocks and our pets feet. But we worked around that and they eventually got use to it. Water and electric hookups came in handy. I hope to stay again!

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our 9-month-old, and it was such a wonderful experience. We loved that we could upgrade provisions, we used the propane tank for the fire pit and the pour-over coffee setup, which came with freshly roasted beans (amazing!). The whole place has this relaxing, no-nonsense vibe that we really appreciated. We went during the fall, and it was so beautiful seeing the vines changing color. The electric blanket made our night cozy and comfortable even when it got chilly. Aaron was outstanding. His hospitality, knowledge, and genuine passion for his craft really stood out. We enjoyed wine tasting, hanging out in the “vincade,” and my husband watched a bit of Monday Night Football! The wine was fantastic, and we were so impressed we ended up joining the wine club. The yurt was spacious and comfy, the bed was great, and there was plenty of room for our daughter to crawl around. The portapotty was clean, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained. Just an overall relaxing, memorable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Ascension Ranch

I am writing this review to warn everyone that there is no longer a tent/yurt set up at Lovers Creek. When I asked the man about it, he said that a guest had brought the tent it wasn't included in the site, which is a lie if you look at all the reviews and pics there used to be a tent that stayed on the wooden platform. Luckily I brought my tent just in case so we didn't need to leave. The road getting onto his property is very narrow and beautiful and I wouldn't have been comfortable taking my car, I was glad to have a truck. The restroom is down at the "entrance" and a 10 min walk to the Lovers Creek site. We took the truck each time. There were cute animals to see on the property. Roads are very dusty! The best part about this place and the main reason I might come back is for the privacy. After check in, no one bothered us and the nearest campsite maybe 500 feet away across the other side.

We had a great one night stay at RockNWater Cove Camping! We stayed in Curley w/ an RV but definitely want to return to camp at one of the tent spots. The hosts, Kris and her husband, were super nice and answered lots of questions we had. The river access is really pretty w/ a nice beach area. Plusses are flush toilets, showers, propane fire pits with propane provided, potable water and electric hook ups. Looking forward to going back next summer!

I got to wash my face in fresh river water in the morning. Kris’ husband checked up on us and made sure we had enough propane for the gas fire pit. It was a lovely stay and I hope I get to return!!
