The price of camping includes the Ranch experiences of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun.
We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses.
*NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers.
We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink.
Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees).
We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station).
Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.

The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis. While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime. My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. The price of camping includes the Ranch experiences of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun.
We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses.
*NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers.
We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink.
Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees).
We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station).
Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.

The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. This ranch is such a gem! The property is absolutely stunning and right now in the Spring all is lush and green and lovely. We were able to book Site 1 and it was super easy to navigate with our trailer and had more than enough space for the two of us and the dog. The owners Debbie and a Kevin were super friendly and made sure to grab us around feeding time so we could meet all of the ranch animals …llamas, goats (and baby goats!!!!!), emu, alpaca, and chickens! You can tell they love their land and their animals and are happy to share that with you…I even got a llama kiss! Highly recommend checking this spot out, we will definitely be back!

Beautiful spot and amazing host! We spent 2 nights at the RV spot at the top area with 2 kids. It was perfect for what we wanted, but if you are looking to do something around the area (visiting Indian Grinding Rock State Park for example) I recommend having a vehicle to move around. Hookups worked great and the view of the sunset up there was amazing. Great place for some peace and quiet time, very recommended! A bit steep to get up to the top spot but it's doable, our 31' Class C 2WD could do it.

This camping trip was honestly everything we could have asked for and more. The location was beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing outdoors. Waking up to the calm water and open space was incredible. We even took a small boat out on the water which made the experience feel like a little adventure.
The campsite itself was great — plenty of space, a covered area for cooking and hanging out, and everything felt clean and well kept. It was the perfect mix of being outdoors while still having the basics you need.
Our dog had the best time too. She got to explore, relax, and even ride in the boat with us which made the trip even more special.
The views, the quiet atmosphere, and the overall experience made this one of our favorite camping trips. If you’re looking for a place to unplug, enjoy nature, and just have a great time outside, this spot is definitely worth it. We will absolutely be coming back.

The community area is a pretty cool aspect if you choose to use that, and I loved the shower. Camp Joy is a piece of heaven. It’s just 1 spot so there is literally no one around. Butch and Emma were great, felt like they were watching out for us all night. Just note no water, no electricity, no restrooms or garbage cans. It’s totally rule.

It’s a really simple spot with everything you need. The pond is absolutely beautiful and everything was so nice and green. All the farm animals are so fun but also loud if that isn’t something you are used to. Allen was really kind and welcoming.

I loved tent camping at this location, the hosts were very nice and accommodating when it came to us leaving multiple times throughout the day. They also had firewood available which they so kindly delivered to our campsite! The value was also good they gave me enough wood to keep the fire stoked for 5+ hours for 20$. The showers and bathrooms were a nice luxury they weren’t gold star but the water was hot and they were clean! The campsites were right next to the water front and there is a really private vibe to the campsites. I was lucky enough to go and be the only camper there and it was amazing! I definitely recommend, if your on the fence then go ahead and book, you won’t regret it!

We all loved staying here and we would come back again (hopefully when it’s not raining). Alan was super friendly and the site, bathroom, water, canoes, hay rides, etc were all perfect. We did see another review to pack earplugs because it can be loud at night (the geese lol) so we all slept great. I would definitely recommend people think about what dogs they bring since there are many loose unneutered male dogs that are friendly and come around to the site regularly (as well as a pig!) One younger pup, (a jack russel mix?), repeatedly peed on our things but I think he’s still learning from the other pups how to behave. Overall we had lots of fun and definitely recommend this place.

We had a short but incredibly sweet stay! The views were absolutely beautiful, and waking up to the lake each morning was such a peaceful experience. The small hike down to the lake was beautiful and totally worth it.
The animals on the property were honestly the best part — plus we loved getting some extra affection from the resident pup.
We even grabbed a few eggs for the road. Everything was wonderful from start to finish, and when we lost power, it was restored so quickly.
Jeremy, our Hipcamp host, was super friendly and accommodating and had great recommendations for the area, which made the trip even better.
10/10 stay — we would absolutely come back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway.

This is an outstanding campsite. Beautiful vista's, private, easy access and level. We watched the sunset on one side and the sunrise on the other. Dustin is very kind and responsive. My absolute favorite site to date! Love, love, love Camp Joy!

Had an awesome experience here. Was a little concerned about how their dogs would act around my 2 little dogs but it wasnt that big of a hassle. Luna was very well-mannered and kept her distance from our dogs and she was super friendly. The guardian dogs only hung out for about 20 minutes when we first got there and then we didnt see them until the next day when they came and checked on us for another 20mins in the afternoon. The view was amazing, especially at sunrise. Jeremy was super cool and even cut us up some firewood to use.

We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.
