Visit, fish, or camp in a rare jewel forest, hidden in the Sierra/Cascade foothills, less than an hour's drive to Chico, Oroville, or Paradise. Surviving forests of mature cedars, pines, oaks, and madrones provide shady camping, fishing along the lake shore, or picnicing along the banks of the creek that runs through a recovering creekside area. Stargaze or fly kites in our Great Meadow or admire copious wildflowers and other native plants on over 80 acres of wilderness. We provide a variety of recovering wilderness areas near water faucets, pit toilets and an RV dump station. Our site features mature forests, grassy meadows, a year-round creek in a fire recovery zone. The site also features lakefront shoreline access for bank fishing, a central fire pit and lots of space for group camping. Fires are permitted in the central pit when weather allows. The Lake Concow/Konkow Campground is a wilderness sanctuary and houses many variety of rare and endangered plants, animals, and insects. Please be aware of and give respectful space to all of the residents of the park. The list of year round residents may include poison oak, thorny berry vines, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, deer, eagles, osprey, owls, squirrels, skunks, foxes, bears, mountain lions, snakes, bats, and more. Please be responsible for personal camp supplies and trash. The Campground is a Pack In/Pack Out location and garbage cans are supplied near the office house near the entrance. Good hiking shoes, protective clothing, and hats are recommended. All Campground faucets supply delicious, potable water tested regularly. The modern listings spell the name Concow, Ancestors spelled it Konkow. Both are correct, though may give different search results. There is plenty of room for parking large vehicles and for turning around. TOW VEHICLES MUST STAY THE DURATION OF THE CAMPING VISIT. The Maple Creek Ranch and Tree Farm has been family owned and operated since 1934. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Denmark, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years.
There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence.
The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north.
While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and
fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking
*The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV.
Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.

My dad bought the farm in 1979 and it used to be a working dairy and sheep farm. My dad passed away while cutting our 6 acre oat field on mothers day 2003, our little farm started to break down. Our farm is 3 miles west of town within 10 miles to Black Butte lake for fishing, boating, hiking, and even disk golf. Right off of I-5 by a Pilot travel center and Maverick. 4496 county road DD and also shows as Orange grove ave. on some GPS maps. Public pool 3miles(1pm-5pm, water arobics Tue and Thur 6-7pm $2, family night Tue and Thur 730-9pm June-Aug) as well as shopping and dining within 3miles. Great sunset and area to roam for a bike ride or walk in the country in our little hick town with only about 8000 population. It is very likely you will hear animals so if your a light sleeper you may want ear plugs. Chickens crow and roam, cows bellow from all sides, goats beller and roam, and dogs bark and welcome guests. No trespassing signs are for hunters and people that DO NOT have permission to be here. Driveway is rough and we are working on getting it smoothes out asap so please take your time coming up. There is FIELD roaches you may see soon after we irrigate, they are bigger then the nasty cockroach but harmless. The wind can be rough at times up here on our lil hill so be prepared with extra rope to tie down and secure if your in a tent, also park vehicle to help block from wind and driveway. It does get up into the high 100°s here during the summer so it would be good to have shade or plan to keep cool during the hottest parts of the day. The toilet is a outhouse with bucket and bag inserted, there is cedar shavings to drop a handful when done. Solar lights outside and 1 inside. I plan to upgrade and have shower bag thats heated from sun. Longer stays are best done at sites 4 and 5 further from the driveway. Quick stops just to sleep are best at 1 and 2. Rainy weather only sites 5 and 1 are usable sadly.

Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm.
The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons.

Camping here is a semi-primitive experience, since there is no bathroom, and no garbage service. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat.
Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area.
If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur.
The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

My husband and I camped out here (slept in the bed of my truck) and loved it! It's an easy drive/walk to Nevada City and attractions in the area. While other campers were near-ish to us, we barely heard them. We stayed over July 4th weekend, but with the seclusion of the property location, you wouldn't have known. There are two toilets, a kitchen area, and a shower; all of which were much more luxurious than we are used to. The hot shower felt amazing after a day of hiking. The owners are wonderful and made sure we settled in ok (without intruding). There is working wifi too for those who desire it. We look forward to returning!

The Sage spot at Loren and Steve's property near Nevada City is one of those rare finds that earns every star. The setting is stunning, the parking pad perfectly level for a rooftop tent, and the canal-side hiking is the kind of thing you don't expect to stumble into. The space is exactly as shown (and described) with the exception of the oak tree. There are many trees but none to park under (which is discouraged). Traffic dies down during the night so it is quiet for sleeping. Easy on/off from I-5 with Love's near the entrance. A nice place for the night. I'd gladly stay again when we're in the area.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here!
To start, the hosts, Loren and Scott, are genuinely the sweetest people. We arrived after a long, exhausting journey and were having a very stressed-out moment trying to navigate. Loren went completely out of her way to come out to the road just so we could find the place easily, which was incredibly accommodating and helpful. Later on, Scott came by to check on us and make sure we had absolutely everything we needed. They truly made us feel so welcome.
The campground itself is beautiful and very well-maintained. The area around the campsites is perfectly mown, and they have beautiful, flat platforms that are excellent for tent camping or doing morning yoga. You get gorgeous scenery and a peaceful vibe, while still being very close to town.
An extra bonus was the bathhouse—it features a hot water shower with great water pressure and two flushing toilets, making the whole amenities experience super comfortable.
We had an amazing time and can't recommend this place enough! Thank you, Loren and Scott!

The space is beautiful! We were the only ones at the camp for our stay, so the only sound was the breeze in the trees. The sites are nestled in a beautiful, peaceful wooded area. Nice hot shower, flushing toilets and small "kitchen" make it a luxury stay when boon docking. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely campground just outside of Nevada City. We stayed at the Blue Oak site, which was a good size for our camper van. The shower, toilets, sink, and little outdoor kitchen are really nice amenities to have.

A great quiet spot. Kept well. Level spots for my van, they also have tent platforms if you're looking to tent camp. Hot showers. Flush toilets. And a small kitchen space to use of needed. Easy to find, great info provided from the host. Highly recommend!

A beautiful setting for camping with large trees and plenty of shade. The amenities were spectacular and clean, a hot shower to start the day was wonderful. I went to Willo Steak house which was really close for dinner and then the next day to the Communal Cafe for breakfast before leaving town. Highly recommend!

The spring green was so beautiful and refreshing. There was no one there and the Blue Oak rv site was perfectly quiet and surrounded by trees and small wildflowers. The location is terrific to access Nevada City and a good deal of trails. Our only issue was the bathhouse was not fully operational, with minimal water pressure and then no water at all. We reported the toilet water tank not filling our first morning there, but it didn’t get fixed during our stay. I am certain they will repair it.

Super lovely hipcamp! Jones Bar Farm is up on a hilltop with beautiful rolling views, sunsets, a pond (seasonal?) and a symphony of wildlife sounds to lull you to sleep. I was here in March when the hills were green. I'd guess that this region is brown grass most of the year, but it would still be beautiful. Ann was a great host and shared a couple of fresh, delicious eggs from her hens! I would definitely stay again if in the area.
