- There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house.

More about the property: I built my home high upon a southern ridge. Watching the river of coastal fog flow in and out below me is one of the most wonderful views to behold! I have 30 acres of land to explore and camp upon in the surrounding redwood forest.
10 miles east are Montgomery Woods redwood preserve with GIANT trees, and a little farther, perhaps a mile is the famous Orr Hot Springs Resort. If you drive a half hour west from my land you will be in the coastal Mendocino village.
We are marijuana friendly!! Thus, we have created more of an adult oriented atmosphere.

I arrived to Cosmo’s super late after a long day going up the coast. It was a last minute book that morning, if I remember right - my campsite had fallen through. His directions were spot on, and very kindly he stayed up to take me to my site and help me get set up, even going so far as to light me a fire. His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time.When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable.Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. If I’m ever near Mendocino I will gladly make the trip inland to stay at his property again."

Our goal is to make you feel right at home.
Each of our three sites has a redwood deck with a sink and food prep space, potable water, remote solar lighting, picnic table, smokeless fire pit and grill, firewood, level parking area and tent pad.
One of the three sites can accommodate a 25’ trailer.
There is a beautiful redwood bathhouse with two outdoor showers and two flushing toilets.
All water onsite is potable so make sure to top off before your day of adventuring.
There is a horseshoe pit, cornhole, and badminton set for fun under the sun.
All sites are a two min walk to the State Park trails and 5 min ride to Jackson state forest bike trails. It's about a half hour walk to the beautiful waterfall from our property.
Large Groups are welcome to book all three sites with two additional RV locations. Also we have a fully stocked westfalia camper van to glamp in if your wanting to pack light for the weekend.

Bird watching, hearing ravens and hawks right here at our place making for an extra special vibe. We have two very friendly Great Pyrenees, 2 cats, 5 ducks and 10 chickens. Fresh farm eggs available. These animals are all located near the house, and not near the campsites.

Mendocino Village is 7 miles and Fort Bragg is 17 miles. At the bottom of Albion Ridge Road is a restaurant called the Ledford House. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the restaurant. The surrounding area offers hiking, kayaking and fishing in the Noyo Harbor. House of Trees has NO cooking facilities inside. There is no kitchen. You can also put up two tents next to the yurt for more sleeping.
We have now added also an attached kitchen and bathroom to the yurt so we have an indoor shower and full kitchen!
There is a detached bathroom with a maintenance free composting toilet and simple outdoor kitchen. You will have access to cooking utensils and cookware, camp stove, and fire pit. There is a solar system so you have access to electricity and wifi.
The drive from Willits is 25 minutes, with only the last 5 minutes on a dirt road. You can do the drive in any car, unless the occasional snowy conditions. There is plenty of parking next to the yurt for easy unpacking.. To access the coast you do have to go back through Willits and use highway 20.

The property has tons of hang out spots! Eat lunch over at the picnic tables, stare up at the stars at our moon gazing bench, or hang out in our communal area, over by the campfire.. We also have an outdoor shower and kitchen sink area that are open to all. The property runs parallel with Mendocino state parks and has plenty of spots to explore! Our main goal is to make you feel at home!
Some things to know;
-The Mosquitos are starting to die down, but are still present depending on time of day.. We provide repellant over on the bar by the campfire if you need!
-We provide garbage bins if you need, but please keep it light. Also- The property backs up to Jackson state forest, so please try to keep from throwing food waste in the garbage. The animals love it!
-Cell service is very spotty onsite.

His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time.When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable.Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. All sites are a two min walk to the State Park trails and 5 min ride to Jackson state forest bike trails. It's about a half hour walk to the beautiful waterfall from our property.

Come stay on our working farm. Our cozy yurt is surrounded by an orchard and flower farm. The yurt is nestled in the orchard and is a separate location from our home. You have access to walk around our wonderful farm full of lush flowers. We provide a cozy queen bed with quality linens. Outside of the yurt is an outdoor bathroom that has all the amenities, as well as an incredible outdoor shower. There is a pour over coffee set and a mini refrigerator ready when you arrive with cream and sugar. Please check out extras for farm experiences and many other fun farm additions.

We needed a spot to stop overnight on a road trip. The Mushroom cabin was just the right price and size for our overnight trip. The hosts were helpful with directing us. We had a rainy, windy evening during our stay but the tiny bit mighty cabin kept us safe and warm. The little electric heater provided goes a long way.

We had a lovely stay in the sunshine cabin with our pup during a classic winter downpour. A gorgeous way to start the new year. Cabin was clean, cozy, and warmed so well by electric heater. Communal kitchen was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and convenient with fridge, gas cooktop, and outlet for our rice cooker.
Grounds were very lush. Had great fun looking for slugs, snails, and salamanders. Great stay if you want to adventure out or stay in for contemplation. We will be returning. Much gratitude to our hosts.

This property was amazing! The thoughtfulness and attention to detail that Shay & Liz have put into each campsite is undeniable. I really appreciate the chairs, the firepit, the firewood with starter sticks and the picnic table. I love a small secluded Hipcamp with amenities! The proximity to Fort Bragg and Mendocino was fantastic for errands and grabbing food. The trail head right off the property was lovely! I’d love to come back here!

This is the best hidden gem. This retreat is so big you can spend couple of days exploring. The bathroom is evacuate. The hot shower is amazing. If you need to a place to mentally reset and reconnect with nature, this is the spot. We came with our kids and spent a night there before heading up to the redwoods. Its a great break if you dont want do one long drive.

He upgraded me to a cabin-which was cozy and clean-and offered me firewood for the stove.

This was hands down one of the nicest hipcamps I’ve visited. Shay and Liz make sure the sites were fully appointed with everything we would need for a night under the stars with a furry family member. The trails are super accessible and our pup was very happy. We’re excited to visit again!

We had a wonderful time at Sunnyland and were so happy with the site! We loved being able to cozy up next to a fire inside the cabin, and making our coffee & enjoying our meals in the outdoor kitchen space. The back deck to the cabin offers a breathtakingly beautiful view as well. It was such a peaceful experience and Sunny is an excellent host. I highly recommend if you want a getaway close to the coast. Thanks for the perfect holiday! We had such a relaxing time and will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Comptche Matrix @ Sunny-land
The tiny cabin is super cute and the bed is comfy. The view from the porch is amazing! We got lucky and got a clear night for the Geminid meteor shower and saw lots of shooting stars! I’m not always a “people person” but I loved meeting Sunny who is just the nicest! All the people and critters on Sunnyland are great! I will say, if you don’t like hearing kids at play or if you are afraid of super big, sweet dogs this may not be the place for you. Also, I couldn’t get the WiFi to work, but admittedly didn’t try too hard as there were better things to do than look at my phone! Oh, I also got a chance to look at the campsites and they are all very nice too. Next time we visit during nice weather I think we might try out the RidgeTop site!

Cute little spot! The host and her sons and dogs were very friendly and helpful. Two big dogs were a little bit of a concern since I'm not a dog person, but they were very nice dogs, and it was actually nice having them around when you are camping in the middle of the woods.

Definitely recommend a 4x4 vehicle to get to the property. Have your directions downloaded before you pass the high school. Our Subaru was up for the task!
The property is gorgeous and very secluded. We brought our 8 year old boy and dog. We were super lucky to have the entire camp site to ourselves the entire weekend. The temperature at night was almost freezing, so the sauna and shower made it much more tolerable. The sauna was by far the highlight of the trip for me besides being with my family unplugged!

Having a kitchen to make a full meal for each meal was a luxury. The kitchen has everything you need to cook minus ingredients. Bring your own oil/spices etc.
Also, pack out what you pack in. Meaning, there isn’t a garbage facility/ site dumpster.
Also, there is really only 1 running toilet that we could find by the kitchen. I could see this being annoying in a large group setting, although having a toilet at all is a luxury when camping.
If you’re a BBQ enthusiast, bring your own grill, there isn’t one to use on the property.
Make sure to bring tick repellant/ check yourselves (especially dogs) regularly. We pulled a dozen off our dog and bodies.
Highly recommend this spot for a weekend getaway! We loved it and will certainly be back, as a couple, as a family and with friends for sure!!

My boyfriend and I had originally reserved the House of Trees for 2 nights, but we loved our stay so much that we extended it for 1 additional night and we're SO glad we did. The home is cozy, quiet, and inviting. It's the perfect stay for a two people wanting to explore the area for a few days and have a comfortable retreat at a good price. Also, the unique amenities (i.e. towel warmer, bathrobes, and bubble bath soap) are an extra special touch that make you feel taken care of. We recommend to other couples and we will definitely stay here again if we are in the area!
