Whaleback Ridge Cabins & Camp

10 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents34 acres · Calistoga, CA
Welcome to Calistoga! We invite you to stay on our family's land, settled in the early 1900's. We've turned Dan and Mariah's wedding trails into campgrounds, recently added large privacy shades to the hilltop, and we're always making improvements! There are 3 options: Shaded Oak ($49) quiet, private, for vans, small trailer or tent; has propane fire pit Married Manzanitas ($49) is a very large, privately wooded site that is walk-in or requires 4wd/ground clearance (drive in at your own risk, or park and walk in), tent only, or also offers an optional Cabin for +$30 per night ($79) Coral Cabin on the hilltop ($109/night, + $30 cleaning fee) is closest to the civilized amenities, electricity, wifi etc and has a TV with roku. Your toilet and shower are still outside, but this is the closest to a hotel experience with clean sheets ready on your arrival. Cabin has AC for hot summer days, and a private deck with dinner bar around back. All sites have access to the hilltop Recharge Station, recently cleaned up! Recharge Station has an outdoor shower, two bathtubs, tables and chairs, and a large stainless steel countertop with sink. If multiple sites are occupied, Coral Cabin has priority for use of facilities before 9am and after 5pm. Shaded Oak and Married Manzanitas guests can use the facilities between 9am-5pm, being mindful of each other's privacy and/or coordinating shower times. Each site has its own compost toilet, and Married Manzanitas has its own ambient-temperature shower. As much as possible, guests should use the toilet in their own sites. When Coral Cabin is vacant, there is more flexibility in using the amenities at the Recharge Station, which include: -sink with well water (filtered and drinkable but not your city water). -Mini-fridge with freezer -Microwave, coffee maker, toaster -Camp stove to use outside; propane grill is currently out of commission (will update when it is fixed) -Games, puzzles, books, sports equipment, a kids telescope -kayak equipment to rent, tennis rackets/balls for courts in town Dan is your camp host. Our caretakers in the main house are a family of five (with an adorable 2-yr old) but you will only hear cars come and go, behind new privacy shades. Otherwise this is a quiet, peaceful spot!

The Egrets Nest

1 site · Lodging1 acre · San Geronimo, CA
Our property is .3 acres. It is on a semi rural street, private property in the midst of nature. The little cabin sits above a creek which flows and roars like a river in the winter. In the spring enjoy the beauty of the wild flowers and blossoming trees. The deer come in and out- it is difficult to maintain a vegetable garden! We are ten minutes from the Samuel P Taylor camp ground and 30 to 40 minutes from the coastal trails in the Point Reyes National sea shore. Nearby, hiking trails abound, There are trail maps in the cabin. Tomales bay is 30 minutes down the road. Our property is home to a small grove of redwoods, one very large redwood, many fir trees and old ivy covered trees that line the creek. The fences on either side of the property crawl with wild grape vines and a large cherry tree stands next to the cabin. The bathroom is in the main house. This is a good home base for hiking, biking, resting and showering.

Cabins near Bolinas guide

Overview

The isolated coastal town of Bolinas in California's Marin County has only 1,600 residents. It's about 90 minutes north of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. If you're driving into Bolinas, keep in mind that there are no road signs for it! While people here are friendly, they're notoriously protective of their secluded culture. Point Reyes National Seashore is just 10 minutes north on Olema Bolinas Road. This area's a great choice if you're into camping in the backcountry. Much of the area is only accessible by foot, bike, or horseback. You can also reach some beach camping areas by boat. Note that Point Reyes' proximity to San Francisco makes it a very popular destination. Call ahead to make reservations if possible! Head 10 minutes the other way on Olema Bolinas Road to reach broad, sandy Stinson Beach. This is a better choice if you're looking for easy access to the water. Half an hour north of Bolinas, you'll find Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Definitely stop by here if hiking is your passion. The challenging 5.8-mile Barnabe Peak trail rewards you with beautiful views of the San Geronimo Valley. You can also bed down for the night under the shade of the redwoods in the park's Camp Taylor.
