Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Super dark skies, and a million stars at night. You'll probably see the Milky Way! It does get breezy at night, so dress appropriately.It feels like the wild west out here, and that's the main appeal--no rules, nobody watching. Think long dirt roads, tumbleweeds, bones, and maybe some old bullet shells (there's no shooting allowed on the property anymore). This is not a state-maintained, paved, manicured operation--it's the edge of the desert wilderness. Please respect the property and clean up after yourself!This is for people who are comfortable exploring beyond a concrete slab with electricity and janitor-cleaned restrooms. There are no designated sites, so pick whatever looks good to you. We often have multiple parties at once, so feel free to spread out.This land used to be the domain of the Ketanemuk tribe, which I think means People From The East. In the summer they would go up and hunt and get pine nuts in the Tehachapi Mountains, and acorns from the oak trees in the San Gabriels.The property itself is along a dirt road called Avenue C. It's about a 20 minute drive from the town of Neenach (pronounced Nee-nack), where there's a general store and a cafe. They make a great breakfast burrito. It's also a few minutes from the State Poppy Reserve, which blooms in the spring with miles of California poppies.If you have a larger group or event in mind, get in touch! We’re a group of RV campers - 5 rigs and 1 tent, totaling 13 people and we fit comfortably with room to spare. The camp site is private, clean, and incredibly relaxing. There are plenty of shaded areas to chill during the day, and a beautifully lit dinner space. The Ranch is perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. Every detail feels thoughtfully maintained, making it one of the most enjoyable camping experiences we’ve had. It’s clear this place was designed with comfort and community in mind. And then there’s Steven. He’s a great camp host. Very responsive, kind, and incredibly accommodating. Steven goes above and beyond to make sure guests feel welcome and cared for. We’re already planning our next visit. This place is a keeper!

We stayed just one night at The Lodge at Deer Creek and it was exactly what we needed. We arrived late, found the spot easily, and settled in without any issues. The place was very quiet and peaceful — perfect for a simple overnight stay.

Fun and eclectic spot with super friendly host. Such a great location too because you are in the forest but also quick access to the city. Kind of wild but we stayed here and commuted to Disneyland. And it worked! Fun place :)

This is a simple and beautiful site. There is some neat hiking right from the site that I only explored a little due to having a one year old in tow. Hoping to hike and explore more the next time around. Chris is a great host and a character! He cares a lot about helping you get the most out of the site. If you’re looking for an easily accessed simple site within an easy drive of LA, this is it. As others have said, it does have little to no shade. Having a shade tent or a tarp is a good call. We had a shade tent that made it very pleasant even on a warmer day. Enjoy!

The views are spectacular! Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Nice and quiet. Just a few miles from the beach when you want to change it up a bit. We had a great time just hanging out and relaxing. We came well prepared for the primitive camping, so the only drawback was little to no shade most of the day. Fortunately, we had an EZ Up, and all was fine, and the nice breeze that blows kept it pretty comfortable. Pam and Chris were great hosts and made sure we enjoyed our stay.

A safe, quiet, beautiful place to camp near Malibu! Sunsets here are amazing! Our 35 ft school bus made it up and down the steep roads safely (though it was a feat).

Loren’s property was amazing! It was the perfect spot right outside the city to break in my new camper. He was very helpful when I needed help with understanding my power needs. He’s got a bunch of cool props hanging around the property which were also pretty cool. There’s a great French restaurant down the street that’s perfect for a nice dinner and glass of wine. Definitely recommend!
