I offer 4 dry camping options. You can book the Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. An extra vehicle is OK as long as it's part of your one campsite. 2 groups with 2 camp vehicles is 2 campsites.
I also have the Pool House, an indoor option with a power outlet, and it's close to the pool and restroom area. You can set up your bed or rent a full size bed which I will set up for you.
This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff.
I have WiFi and great cell service here. You MUST arrive by dark unless arrangements are made in advance.
I will greet you and show you around. I close my gates at dark. Once you are here you may come and go as you please.
I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10.
Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a breakfast room with clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker available for your use. Lots of local birds visit daily. You are welcome to visit and pet my horses and donkeys!

When my husband and I were dating in NY we confessed our mutual desire to get back "home" to the west. It made me fall in love with him even faster. So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. Park your RV at our place on your travels, we are 5 min off the interstate! Dirt road is great for walking, some parts of the year people pass through for birding. Some people come to check out the area to potentially move to the area and some only come for the winters. We also have a short little nature trail that we made ourselves. We are 30 minutes south of Tucson, 25 minute drive away from Madera Canyon/Coronado National Forest for some great hiking and bird watching! No light pollution so you can see the stars good at night. Remember the term sky island. Here in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, mountains seemingly come out of nowhere to dominate an otherwise flat landscape. Discover the five distinct areas of this national forest, all of which have their own sky islands.
Start your wanderings at Sabino Canyon. Steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation follow Sabino Creek, which maintains water year-round. Keep a sharp eye out for desert wildlife adapted for high heat and low humidity. Gila monsters may sun themselves on rocks, while bobcats sip from the creek's water.
Discover Miller Peak, the highest peak in the Huachuca Mountains. Wilderness surrounding the area comprises vertical cliffs and deep canyons. Follow an 11.5-mile, moderately hard trail to the top of the mountain. The mountain rises 3,500 feet above the countrysidePets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them.

The main camping area is a flat area on the mountainside East of Summerhaven, with a steep approach (be prepared!). The view from the area is great, and the area has some pines, as do the neighboring properties. Turkey cross the property seasonally, as well as the occasional deer. This is a leave no trace site.
The site is current undergoing enchancements, so there will be evidence of demolished boulders, landscaping, and fencing. The site is safe to traverse, but care should be taken to avoid rock and uneven terrain, fence posts, and so on. Usage of the site is at your own risk.
Toilet and waste:
A bucket toilet is provided, with composting bags. Toilet waste, as well as other waste, must be taken with you, when you leave; there is no trash service. There are sometimes dumpsters in town that can be used to dispose of waste.
The bucket toilet consists of a bucket, bucket seat, funnel, and hose. The consumables are composting toilet bags, wood shavings/chips, and toilet paper. You do not need to use the funnel and hose, but may if you wish. At a minimum, place the bag into the bucket, with the bag edge over the edge of the bucket, and place the bucket seat onto the bucket. The bucket seat should firmly fit onto the bucket, and retain the bag.
When your stay is complete, please make sure the seat and bucket are clean, as well as the funnel and hose, if you used them. Please make sure all supplies are returned to the Toilet Supplies container.

The address is 12672 N Ray Ave.
Make your way to the intersection of N Sabino Canyon Parkway and Retreat Rd. in Summerhaven, AZ. Head east up the steep Retreat Rd., and make the right onto Tucson Ave., followed by a quick left onto what Google says is Ray Ave. Make an immediate right onto N. Ray Ave, and follow the dirt road until a steep driveway on the left appears. This driveway (and the other entrance 100 ft further on) provide access to the land. If trying to park off the driveway, enter the first driveway entrance to drive forward onto the approach and park, or enter the second driveway and then back onto the approach and park. Once parked (See Parking for additional instructions), access the land from the driveway according to the images.
Parking:
WARNING: Do not park on the driveway itself. There is a half-moon driveway that provides a way to either drive forward or backward onto the approach. Park on the (1) dirt approach to the land, just off the steep driveway, or (2) on the half moon parking spot at the top of the driveway, or (3) at the bottom on Ray Ave, out of the way. If any vehicles are blocking vehicular access to the dirt approach to the land, please contact me.
Recreation:
The shops of Summerhaven are close. Marshall Gulch is a popular recreation area on the Arizona Trail, South of Summerhaven. There is also a lot of opportunity to hike and rock climb on the area.
The area is not very suitable for RVs; it is not possible to bring an RV onto the property.

Park your RV at our place on your travels, we are 5 min off the interstate! Dirt road is great for walking, some parts of the year people pass through for birding. Some people come to check out the area to potentially move to the area and some only come for the winters. We also have a short little nature trail that we made ourselves. We are 30 minutes south of Tucson, 25 minute drive away from Madera Canyon/Coronado National Forest for some great hiking and bird watching! No light pollution so you can see the stars good at night. Remember the term sky island. Here in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, mountains seemingly come out of nowhere to dominate an otherwise flat landscape. Discover the five distinct areas of this national forest, all of which have their own sky islands.
Start your wanderings at Sabino Canyon. Steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation follow Sabino Creek, which maintains water year-round. Keep a sharp eye out for desert wildlife adapted for high heat and low humidity. Gila monsters may sun themselves on rocks, while bobcats sip from the creek's water.
Discover Miller Peak, the highest peak in the Huachuca Mountains. Wilderness surrounding the area comprises vertical cliffs and deep canyons. The main camping area is a flat area on the mountainside East of Summerhaven, with a steep approach (be prepared!). The view from the area is great, and the area has some pines, as do the neighboring properties. Turkey cross the property seasonally, as well as the occasional deer. This is a leave no trace site.
The site is current undergoing enchancements, so there will be evidence of demolished boulders, landscaping, and fencing. The site is safe to traverse, but care should be taken to avoid rock and uneven terrain, fence posts, and so on. Usage of the site is at your own risk.
Toilet and waste:
A bucket toilet is provided, with composting bags. Toilet waste, as well as other waste, must be taken with you, when you leave; there is no trash service. There are sometimes dumpsters in town that can be used to dispose of waste.
The bucket toilet consists of a bucket, bucket seat, funnel, and hose. The consumables are composting toilet bags, wood shavings/chips, and toilet paper. You do not need to use the funnel and hose, but may if you wish. At a minimum, place the bag into the bucket, with the bag edge over the edge of the bucket, and place the bucket seat onto the bucket. The bucket seat should firmly fit onto the bucket, and retain the bag.
When your stay is complete, please make sure the seat and bucket are clean, as well as the funnel and hose, if you used them. Please make sure all supplies are returned to the Toilet Supplies container.

The address is 12672 N Ray Ave.
Make your way to the intersection of N Sabino Canyon Parkway and Retreat Rd. in Summerhaven, AZ. Head east up the steep Retreat Rd., and make the right onto Tucson Ave., followed by a quick left onto what Google says is Ray Ave. Make an immediate right onto N. Ray Ave, and follow the dirt road until a steep driveway on the left appears. This driveway (and the other entrance 100 ft further on) provide access to the land. If trying to park off the driveway, enter the first driveway entrance to drive forward onto the approach and park, or enter the second driveway and then back onto the approach and park. Once parked (See Parking for additional instructions), access the land from the driveway according to the images.
Parking:
WARNING: Do not park on the driveway itself. There is a half-moon driveway that provides a way to either drive forward or backward onto the approach. Park on the (1) dirt approach to the land, just off the steep driveway, or (2) on the half moon parking spot at the top of the driveway, or (3) at the bottom on Ray Ave, out of the way. If any vehicles are blocking vehicular access to the dirt approach to the land, please contact me.
Recreation:
The shops of Summerhaven are close. Marshall Gulch is a popular recreation area on the Arizona Trail, South of Summerhaven. There is also a lot of opportunity to hike and rock climb on the area.
The area is not very suitable for RVs; it is not possible to bring an RV onto the property.

Michaelette and her husband Owen are The Best Hosts! Communication before we arrived was excellent. Michaelette and Owen welcomed us when we arrived and helped us back in our travel trailer on a paved pad beside their home. Power, water, sewer and wifi are all included at a very reasonable price. Michaelette gave us a prepared handout with recommended restaurants and places to see in the area, which was very helpful. Thanks so much for having us!
We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely book this great location again if we return for a visit to Tucson.

Beautiful spot to camp in an amazing community. Our hosts and neighbors were all friendly, caring, and welcoming. The campsites were nice and tidy, the bathroom, shower, and laundry facilities were all in great shape. Patagonia is small, but the campsite is an easy walk to the main street. We only moved our vehicle once to start a bike route.

We had a group of 8 hiking friends who gathered at Karla's to camp for 2 nights. It was the perfect location for us, since one couple needed a room and they were able to stay in Karla's apartment, while the rest of us had camper vehicles.
Karla has made her place very special with her artistic and gardening skills, and she had many unexpected amenities (campfires in the evening and warm cinnamon rolls in the morning). I loved the animals and the $10 fee to groom the baby burro was well worth the fun.
Karla's ranch is in a great location for exploring the area, with the only downside being that it is on a busy highway that can get noisy at times. However, it didn't detract from our trip. We did a beautiful hike at Brown Canyon one day, and the next day we explored the ghost town of Fairbank with a beautiful walk along the San Pedro Conservation Area. Some of us took a cold dip in the pool following a rather warm hike. In the evening we had a wonderful wine tasting at Los Milics Vineyards on their patio at sunset and a dinner at the Copper Brothel in Sonoita, both close by.
We highly recommend Karla's Humingbird Guest Ranch and hope to come back, again.

An awesome desert site down a short "primitive" road a quarter mile from pavement. Wildlife, peaceful, horses, a resident hawk, perfect sunrises over the Chiricahua Mountains and beautiful sunsets behind the Huachuca Mountains.
Wonderful hosts, easy in and out. I have a 60 foot rig and it went in pretty well.
Saw a couple of big cats, quite a few deer, coyote scat, so they're around too. (Keep your small pets on lead.) Definitely would return.
Just an aside, it's just up the road from Johnny Ringo's grave site. What fun!

Our stay at Karla’s place was exceptional. We arrived just before sunset, and Karla was already waiting at the gate to welcome us and show us to our site. The spot was thoughtfully laid out and extremely well equipped. The 50-amp NEMA 14-50 hookup charged our Tesla without issue.
The campsite layout is flexible and well designed, you can set up wherever you’re most comfortable and still have privacy and quiet. The property itself is more than a gem; it’s genuinely unique. We spent a good half hour exploring the artwork in the shared common space, which includes a kitchen area stocked with a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, and an immaculately clean bathroom.
Karla is clearly both a craftsman and an artist, and the care she’s put into the property shows everywhere. Nothing feels generic or rushed, every detail feels intentional and one of a kind. We also had the chance to meet her horses and donkey, all of whom were gentle, friendly, and a joy to be around.
The sunset was spectacular, the campsite was peaceful, and we enjoyed dinner in her beautifully decorated outdoor cabana. Karla was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind throughout our stay. Everything was exactly as it should be.

Karla was super accommodating for my RV stay at her ranch. I'm relocating to the area and needed a place to stay for a few days until my new house closes. After several exhausting days preparing for my move and driving down here, the ranch has been the perfect place to get some much needed R&R. She didn't even mind my tortoise stretching his legs around the place! The pool, fire pit area, and other amenities are all well kept and proved a relaxing atmosphere. And yes. There are actual humming birds.😄

Oh my gosh, where can I even begin. Karla is such a sweetheart! I absolutely loved her place. We were a group of three that booked last minute for tent camping. She was there to greet us when we pulled in and gave us a quick tour. She has worked VERY hard to create a beautiful little ranch with her own hands. She is amazingly creative. Do check out the scrapbook she has made of what she has done over the few years she has owned the place. It is AMAZING. Extremely talented, hardworking, and creative. I cannot begin to fathom the amount of effort she has poured into her property. It really is mindblowing.
The bathroom was spotless, the tent shelter was extremely sturdy and well built, the grounds meticulously maintained. Again, she has built and maintained all of this herself.
Karla really spares absolutely NO effort or expense to make sure her campers are happy, safe, and comfortable. An absolutely wonderful lady with a calm, strong and sweet presence. Just a tremendous, tremendous amount of thought, care, and artistry throughout. Highly, highly highly recommend.

Karla and the Hummingbird Ranch were absolutely the best! Not only is her spot fantastic, she is an absolute gem of a human being! The access to a toilet was pivotal at this point in our trip. She also rents her shower out, which was a huge draw for me. We stayed in her hand built cabana which was wonderful to set my tent up in and also be able to cook and hang out in. She has done a lot of work on her property and it is absolutely gorgeous. My favorite part of the day was sitting down at dusk watching all of her solar lights turn on. RV Ranch is located in a beautiful spot of Cochise County. Gorgeous view of Cochise Stronghold and surrounding ranges. It’s a working ranch so you’ll hear animal noises which added to the peace of the place for me. Full hookup, very level site made it a breeze to get settled quickly. I was so fortunate to witness the great crane migration during my stay. Thousands of them made their way to their winter home right overhead. Truly amazing. Highly recommend RV Ranch to anyone visiting this stunning area of AZ.
