THE SPACE
Laguna Mountain is one of the highest peaks in San Diego at an elevation of over 6,000ft. It's part of the Cleveland National Forest network and one of the most bio-diverse habitats in all of Southern California. It features some of the tallest pine, conifer and oak trees in the region, as well as beautiful open space preserves as far as the eye can see.
The area is extremely remote and secluded. Our glamping sites are located in the communal campgrounds of Laguna./El Prado & Burnt Rancheria campgrounds, right off Sunrise Highway. The closest town is Julian about 30 minutes away. It's about a 15 minute drive to Lake Cuyamaca. The drive along S1 Sunrise HWY is an experience in itself, with contrasting landscapes between our mountain forests and the Anza-Borrego desert.
Your site comes with a combination of both tree tents, bell tents and hammocks. Bell tents are fully outfitted and spacious with therapeutic mattress and / or sofa bed (s). They are staged with the ultimate comfort and luxury in mind, featuring rugs, plush floor pillows, solar powered lights and propane heater.
Our Tenstile tree tents are a lightweight treehouse that uses 3 anchor points to create a "living space" suspended between trees. Our Tentsiles are fun, safe & bring a whole new dimension to the camping experience.
Our elevated tree tents offer a very unique nature immersive and outdoor experience.
Your glamping site also comes with standard hotel amenities, private lounge area, outdoor kitchen space & outdoor fire-pit. Enjoy camping without the hassle!

We love this place! Our 2nd time here and it did not disappoint. Shantel is a lovely host and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The kids had fun improving their slack lining skills. The hiking was great and the shooting stars amazing.
Great site with all the amenities provided. Fantastic hosts that we’re accessible and helpful. Definitely coming back here again with our two little kids.
We had an amazing experience and highly recommend this place for everyone! It makes camping so much more comfortable and enjoyable and you don't need to bring (and wash!) as much stuff. Can't wait to go back!
My 3rd time booking with Shantel and it always has been a great glamping experience! The place was clean and complete when it comes to tools needed for smooth glamping. The beds are comfortable and the interior of the bell tents was so cute & aesthetic. Extra points for extra blankets especially for the cold weather and in addition to the heaters. Water was sufficient and I love that everything has a designated area. The only thing that would make it extra special was if the little lights are working and probably additional lamps especially if the bon fire is restricted for use. But overall, my friends and I really had a wonderful and relaxing time at Deer Peak. Shantel was so thoughtful and was so nice to bring extra propane tanks to refill our heater. Super love our campsite especially autumn colors all around our bell tents.
This place had EVERYTHING we needed to enjoy the mountains without the set-up. As we arrived, one of the outfitters showed us around. She was super welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The tents were well-appointed to say the least... INCLUDING mints! The second night we were there, a freak thunder storm came through and one of our sons was in the tree tent with the fly off so he could see the stars. When he woke up to find himself soaked, he joined his brothers in the tent. We were SO thrilled to discover that there were extra pillows and blankets in the stylish storage chest! We highly recommend these sites and we WILL be back. One note, though: If you're particular about having a bathroom nearby, that may be the one thing you don't enjoy. It's a bit of a hike to the nearest toilets and quite a hike to the showers.
Deer Peak is one of several (at least 50) camping/picnic spots in the Burnt Rancheria Campground in the Laguna Mountain area. We really enjoyed our stay, the place wasn't as secluded, isolated or remote as I thought it would be, but it's still very peaceful and sometimes quiet. The 2 belltents are spacious and clean on the inside. The treetop tent and hammock are fun and relaxing. The campsite comes with a number of accessories that make your stay an awesome experience. Thr host and Campground personal where really helpful and available.
We had a lovely stay! As previous reviewers have mentioned the setup here has pretty much everything you need! Just bring your food and ice and your good! Even if you forget those, there’s a store a short drive away. Shantel made us feel us welcome from the start and we can’t wait to go back again!
