About the property
Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property.
We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away).
We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors!
Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though.
About the listing
Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property.
You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22.

THE AREA: Tucked away under a grove of oak trees, and circled by manzanita trees, sits "Manzanita Cove". A secluded glamping site that contains everything you need, including a private (seasonal pond). This private site is provided with about 1/2 acre of seclusion and equipped with everything needed for an amazing outdoor experience. The total property is about 5 acres, but is shared with our AirBnB: "Julians Red Fox Retreat", which can be booked separately or together with our "Manzanita Cove" glamping site. Because of the shared space, we do limit the number of guests to two, and ask that you be respectful of the space and noise level when booking independently. There are several hammocks around the grounds to relax as well as a few short trails to walk.
The property is about a 7 minute drive from downtown Julian and Wynola.
WINTER/ SPRING GUESTS: Access to the site is down a bit of a steep dirt road, so we suggest that winter and Spring campers (wet weather) have AWD/4WD or park at the top and walk down. Otherwise is it accessible by most vehicles other parts of the year. Please do not stop on the hill when leaving. You will spin your tires and damage the road.

We are located on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, make either a left or right from Hwy 79 onto Camino San Ignacio in Warner Springs, CA, keep to the left at the loop and drive out about 5 miles . When you reach the Ranger Station at the stop sign, make the first left at the sign located at 1600 Camino San Ignacio and drive all the way out to the back. The Happy Camper is located on the left.

Wildlife in the area includes: Quail, Rattle Snakes, Lizards, Ravens, Roadrunners, Tarantulas, Rosy Boa, Mule Deer, Pack Rats, Bob Cats, Coyotes and at times Bighorn Sheep are spotted by Table Mountain. Bluebird Tiny House is tucked into a secluded forest meadow, named for the bluebirds that spend part of the year there and is a spacious feeling 320 sq ft.
The spa-inspired bathroom features a hand-carved, wood vessel sink, eco-dual flush toilet,rain shower, and free-standing soaking tub with oak canopy view.
The 40’ long deck spans the length of the secluded tiny house overlooking the forest to distant mountains and has alfresco dining area and plenty of furniture for cozying as well as hot tub sited for star gazing and firepit seating all within a large fenced yard to keep your fur babies close by.
In addition, we have developed 2 forest therapy trails that will bring your ability to slow down and connect to nature to a whole new level and encourage you to try it using our MP3 forest therapy audio guide..
If you need to accommodate a larger group, check out Pinky's Nature Hideout which has a full kitchen, spacious living room, fenced yard for pets, corn hole, large deck and hot tub sited for star gazing, and firepit seating which overlooks the forest to distant mountains. It sleeps 4 people but the "Lounge" vintage Spartan trailer which is located behind the bunkhouse can be rented to sleep an additional 2 people and is only available to Pinky's guests.

hidden under the oaks which features a vintage 1949 Canned Ham Tiny Trailer (sleeps 2 in a double and one on couch) , a 10 x 12 safari tent on deck w/queen bed, an outdoor kitchen with dining area and barista bar, bath house with hot water, rain-shower, claw-foot tub , compost toilet looking out to acres of sage and distant mountains and firepit. The owners are artisan builders and seasoned hosts who promise guests privacy and quiet. The camp is totally fenced for the safety of your pets and suitable for up to 6 people but sleeps up to 5 additional person(s) can bring tent.

Me and my two kids had a great time staying at Shiva cabin. I made a mistake booking the cabins and Stu was more than accommodating, ensuring we had the space and site we needed. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Even with cooler than expected conditions and quite a bit of wind, we were comfortable in the cabin during the entire stay. We hope to be back again!

This was a great spot! Definitely recommend site 6. It was along the creek and was further away from the road, spacious, and flat. Our kids especially loved the 2 donkeys and turkeys. And we were so glad we could have a fire since several sites do not allow. The host checked in both nights as well which was appreciated.

Jason has created a great glamping experience for all. This trip was planned as a birthday present, but due to having to euthanize my fur baby hours before checking in, made this getaway even more special. A celebration of 13 dog years of life as well. With a heavy heart, I immediately took advantage of the outdoor shower. Which helped calm my soul. From there, our rest and relaxation begun. What a great setup. From the BBQ grill, to the heated sheets (which we forgot about the first night). Such a lovely area. The Bluejays were out, the other birds entering and exiting from thier birdhouse. The board games were a hit as well. So many pluses to this trip, I can't list them all. It was needed in many ways! Until the next time... Enjoy!

We appreciated the accessibility of hiking from property, the Resorts amenities ( 2 pools, hot tub, sauna, games ( corn hole, billiards, ping pong, etc.) and the club house bar had live music along with karaoke and DJmusic. It has clean bathroom & laundry facilities.
Keep in mind it is an older resort with permanent residences. Looks like they’re creating new sites and tiny home rentals.
It was a short drive to Jacumba hot springs,
which was a bonus to us.

Doreen and her family are very kind and welcoming. Upon our arrival, she greeted us warmly and gave us a detailed tour of the farm. The campsite has plenty of shade, so we did not have to worry about the heat. The restrooms are extremely clean and well maintained, and the shower is always available as well. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a live music performance by a local teenage band, and they were amazing! Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this place.

Excellent experience. My family and I enjoyed all the joys of camping, including the walks in nature, the comfort of being surrounded by a forest, cute animals, the energy of camp fire, special moments of bonding, with the convenience of a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable ready-to-use sleeping arrangements. This place was a gem. The camp site connected to or was in proximity to hikes that included the Pacific Crest Trail offering astonishing views. The glamping experience and the easy access to mind blowing views made this experience truly unforgettable for or family.

Greg was a gracious host. He provided clear directions (as the property is a bit off-the-grid!) and was transparent in what to expect when we arrived.
The unit was clean and offered exactly what my family needed - enough bedding for everyone, kitchen facilities, room to play games, and even some chickens, cats, and a dog to visit.
The area is quite remote so we opted to do some activities prior to our arrival at the unit (visited Boulder Park, not far from Greg's unit). Once at the unit, we walked the trails nearby but otherwise, simply enjoyed our stay.

Great oasis near the Salton sea. Peacocks chanting their mating songs. Insects feeding (bring the spray). Fire pits ready for the night stars. Fishing is simple. Would recommend this as a simple camping getaway during the evening nights.

Weekend Trip to In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat
Had a wonderful time at Inkopah Retreat! The accommodation was comfortable, clean with everything I needed for my stay.
Greg's land is very special and he was a more than gracious host, there to help with anything while respecting privacy.

Great place to relax and unwind alone or with guest. My girlfriend and I enjoyed all the amenities the trailer had to offer, and everything work great. The cold water plunge tubs were a great addition and helped with the heat. The remainder of the facility was so cool to see and would recommend this place to anyone.

I loveeeeeed loved this campsite. Lots of nature, its quiet, peaceful, you have your own privacy. A PERFECT hike like 10/15 minutes away called the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve. Hiked for about 2 hours - lots of shade and oak tree canopy's. And then a little winery called the Volcan Mountain Winery for a bite and glass of wine after. Also the town is only around 15 minutes from camp. 4 cute turkeys at the campsite walking around in a group minding their business and two very sweet burros who welcome you. It was a perfect/quiet stay with my boyfriend and me! Definitely coming back and definitely recommend!

Overview
About
More than 85,000 acres of magnificent desert are open for off-highway exploration and recreation within the boundaries portrayed on the park map are operated by California State Parks, OHMVR Division. Outside the boundaries, to the south and east, large tracts of BLM land (U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management) are also open to off-highway vehicles. The western boundary and part of the northern boundary connect with the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which is closed to off-highway recreation, but open to exploration by highway-legal vehicles along established primitive roads.
The rangers and staff of Ocotillo Wells are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable desert riding environment, and to ensuring that a quality experience remains available for future generations.
No fees are collected for camping or day use. Open camping is permitted throughout the unit for up to 30 days per calendar year. Vault toilets, shade ramadas, picnic tables, and fire rings are located in the Quarry, Main Street, and Holmes Camp areas. Water is not available. Vehicle repair shops, telephones, groceries, hotels, motels, RV parks, and restaurants are available in the surrounding communities of Borrego Springs, Ocotillo Wells, and Salton City.
Fuel is available in the communities of Borrego Springs and Salton City.
