Property is located in the High Desert area of E. San Diego County in the In-Ko-)Pah Mountains. 5 camp sites to choose from and one (1) glamping unit "Casa Agave" which is a small home the sleeps four (4). One queen bed, 1 single and a sofa bed that sleeps one. To the west is Table Mountain a sacred Native American Ceremonial Ground that is on BLM land. The Northern boundary is the beginning Anza Borrego State Park. The East and South borders are private land. There is much evidence of campsites and artifacts that the land used to be inhabited by the Kumeyaay Nation. Mica and Garnets used to be mined in this area as well. The property is a transitional area where agave, juniper and scrub oak thrive. Wildlife in the area includes: Quail, Rattle Snakes, Lizards, Ravens, Roadrunners, Tarantulas, Rosy Boa, Mule Deer, Pack Rats, Bob Cats, Coyotes and at times Bighorn Sheep are spotted by Table Mountain. I have 10 chickens, 2 cats and my dog Bosco.

You will be traveling 1.6 miles on a dirt road with some bumps & ruts to reach Inkopah Spirit Retreat which sets on 10 acres off the Utility Grid. When it rains the road can get slick and 4 or all wheel drive might be necessary and in some areas the dirt turns to clay and vehicles may get stuck. Great Views & Hiking! Four Camps to Choose from:  1. Home Base - available for retreat, ceremony, ritual & camping. Host is available to facilitate:  Retreats, Ceremonies, Meditation & Eclectic Energy Process by special arrangement. Sites 2 & 3 are more remote .13 of a mile from Home Base  and campers need to pack gear in on a rough trail. 2. Vortex - Given this name because a shaman visited my property and claimed there was a energy vortex at this spot. 3. Earth Shrine - given this name because there was "Your Wish  for the World" ceremony held here where participants wrote down their wish for the world and placed it in wooden box and hid them in the crevices and rocks. 4. Water Tank - site with an awesome view of Imperial Valley and on clear days you can see the Salton Sea. Stars! Stars! and more Stars! This site has two (2) fire pits and can accommodate up to 10 campers. Or you can walk the property with host and choose your own site. On arrival you will most likely be greeted by Bosco my dog. He is friendly and his barking is just to let me know you have arrived. I also have free-range hens and 2 cats. The most common remarks that visiting campers have are;  "Such special energy present here. So peaceful, healing and therapeutic! Four miles from Inkopah Spirit is the village of Jacumba where there is a Little Lake that is filled with the Natural Mineral Hot Springs and is open to the public for kayaking and swimming." ***BEWARE - This is Rattle Snake Country! Bring a Comb to Dislodge any Cholla Cactus that may get attached to your Skin or Clothing.*** I would suggest checking the Extended Weather Forecast before Booking and in rainy weather the dirt road can get muddy and impassable. Extreme winds occur in this area, at times! And PLEASE!  There is no Trash Removal Service here off the Grid, So What You Bring in, Please Pack Out "Leave No trace". Thank you! LGBQT+ Friendly! There is Swimming & Kayaking available 4 miles away at Little Lake Jacumba which is fed by natural mineral hot springs.

Casa Agave at Inkopah Spirit Retreat is a small house project turning a converted “Shipping Container” into a living space. Casa Agave can accommodate up to 4 individuals with a queen size bed, one single and a sofa bed that sleeps one. This unique living space is part of In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat, an environmentally friendly space on 10 acres off the utility grid and located in far E. San Diego County High Desert area of Jacumba Hot Springs, CA 91934. Not far from the U.S. Mexican Border. Considered part of the In-Ko-Pah Mountains. On the Western border of this property, you will have million-dollar view of Table Mountain, a sacred Native American ceremonial ground on BLM public lands. To the North is the beginning Anza Borrego State Park, to the South you can see the U.S./Mexico border fence and the East you can see Imperial Valley and Salton Sea. In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat creates its own energy using wind and solar and has clean, mineral rich well water. Dubbed Casa Agave because of the Agave or Century Plant that is specific to the Southwestern United States and Mexico and grows profusely in this area. The agave can grow up to 30 feet and was a staple of the indigenous people of this area providing them with: sweetener, medicine, soap, needles, thread, rope, thatching and food. The agave is also used in making tequila. Wildlife abounds in the high desert with many species of: birds, lizards, snakes, rabbits, fox, big horn sheep, tarantella, coyotes, bob cats and mule deer, just to name a few. My favorite and most prevalent are the: Quail, Rattle Snakes, Road Runners and Hummingbirds. The plant life in this transitional area is very diverse. There are many great places to hike in this area: Table Mountain, Round Mountain, Smugglers Cave, Valley of the Moon just to name a few. Also, the Little Jacumba Lake which is fed by Natural Hot Mineral Springs is open to the public for Swimming & Kayaking. To get to Casa Agave/In-Ko-Pah Spirit you will be traveling 1.6 miles on a dirt road with some bumps & ruts, so be prepared. When it rains the road can get slick and 4 or all-wheel drive might be necessary and in some areas the dirt turns to clay, and vehicles may get stuck. My dog Bosco will probably be the first to greet you, he will bark to let me know you have arrived, but he is friendly.

Casa Agave
Casa Agave is a fantastic place to stay. Our family of four spent two nights there and felt very comfortable. Greg provided all the essentials, including an oven, hot water, fridge, and even a coffee machine! The private fire pit and the breathtaking view of the tabletop mountain make it an ideal spot to unwind and end your day. Watching the sunset and the starry night sky is truly a magical experience.

Beautiful surroundings and a couple convenient flat areas on the ridge accessible by car. Great star gazing and eggs for breakfast from their hen house was a nice touch!

Site 4 - In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat
Greg's camp is a gem as other reviewers have said. Easy to find but no traffic noise at the camp. Site #4 is actually very large with several tent sites and fire pits. You can have a group of people with 3 or more tents and plenty of room to spread out. Water tank is on site and you can park in several spots there. Fire pits are well built with rocky hills all around. Greg was hospitable and helpful. He showed us the trails going up to #2 and #3 sites on top of a hill. Great get away. Would consider staying at his cabin next time.

It was magical spending a night amongst the mountains. The sunset was glorious. Would recommend a night here for peace and quiet in nature.

Greg was a great host and made us feel very welcome. He gave us fair warning that it would be windy that day and he wasn't kidding! It was so windy at site #4 that we ended up having to pitch our smaller tent as our larger one wasn't very aerodynamic. But the view was lovely and the 2nd night wasn't nearly as windy. We would definitely stay again and be more prepared for the weather!

Site 3 - In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat
In Ko Pah Spirit was absolutely stunning- my group stayed in site #3 - Earth Shrine. Beautiful works of art, quartz cairns, memorials, and a near 360° view surrounded this site. We came here for stargazing, and boy did we get it. The sky was crystal clear and the stars were so bright, we were lucky enough to be camping for a mostly moonless sky. The weather was immaculate, and the hike up to Earth Shrine was gorgeous. The stay itself at was so pleasant - we had very little wind and near perfect temperatures during the day. Night got cold, but as long as you're prepared to layer, it was quite comfortable. It was a pleasure meeting Greg and his pup, Bosco. Greg has such a good vibe and immediately made us feel welcomed and at home. We loved getting to know him and his story, as well as the amazing facts and lore he shared about this site. It's obvious from the moment you meet him that Greg cares so deeply for this place, and you'll just can't help but feel the same way too. We will definitely be coming back - thank you again, Greg! 😄

I had a wonderful stay at casa agave! The cabin is charming and thoughtfully stocked with anything you might need and the nature all around is incredibly beautiful. Greg - the host was very helpful and kind and the dog, cats and chickens were delightful to have around! Thank you !

Wow, what an incredible property to camp on! We had site number 4 that we were able to drive a Subaru and Tacoma up to and it was stunning. Greg thank you for being a great host! We felt alone up there with amazing views. Would return!

This was a great place to escape to! I loved that there was a hot water to shower with on the cold nights. I also loved the morning when the sun would rise as well as when it would set. Great place to see the clouds above move and the stars shine bright in the night sky. The only thing I suggest is to bring some extra board games with you for the rainy nights. I will be going back with the kids next time!

The directions to get to camp were very precise and there is plenty of signage along the way. Such an awesome and peaceful place. I stayed at site 3 and felt I had a good amount of privacy. If you ask me, site 3 seemed like the best since it’s higher than the other spots and there are some cool boulders to climb on.

This was an awesome camping spot we were lucky enough to find! First, our host, Greg was so friendly, helpful, accommodating to our needs and made us feel so welcome. We knew it was in secluded area and traveled on a dirt road for a little over a mile. The site we were in #4 must be the best spot on Greg's beautiful property. Located at the very top of a mountain, next to the water tank that had a hose with running water. We prepared to set up our camp and we all fell in love with spot. What gorgeous views all around. One side had the dessert floor, other sides to the north & south of Lovely mountains. To the east you can see for miles towards the beaches. The sunset was absolutely amazing and especially above this mountain top. As night came the sky was lite up with so many stars. It was a new moon and the night sky looked almost fake with the amount of stars. Then to be able to see all the constellations so closely, looked almost like a movie. The shooting stars were on fire and we saw many. Sleeping was so peaceful and quiet. I awoke to capture tons of pictures of the most stunning sunrise I have ever witnessed. It was breathtaking and brought a bit of spiritual healing for my soul. We made chorizo burritos on our small propane grill. There are bbq's available, just not on this campsite. Also, only one "outhouse" which was a walk from the site. So you may want to "bring your own toilet" HAHAHA We visited the Desert View Tower and went into a cute Lil town, Jacumba. Fun!

This place was perfect. It was peaceful with some great walks nearby. Greg was a gracious host and the accommodation met all our needs. We recommend getting the 12 eggs and having an omelette for dinner and breakfast. We saw a negative review from a past guest complaining about Bosco the dog. Our experience was that the dog was not aggressive and we didn't feel at all unsafe.

The view was beautiful. The stars were amazing. The sunrise was incredible! Our campsite was private which helps out with our young children 4 6 & 8 that can be pretty wild. Definitely get Greg’s fresh chicken eggs. Scott Sasha and the kids all give this a high thumbs up. We will be back to enjoy the natural environment. Thank you Greg.

Dangerous and irresponsible owner

The owner's dog barked and chased myself and my kids in an aggressive manner, not once, but twice while we were simply unloading our vehicle and walking to the tiny home entrance. When I asked the owner to stop his dog from chasing us, he responded that he had a dog and I needed to deal with it. Then he asked me to leave. (The dog was NOT listed in the rental description despite his claims.) In addition to the dog safety issue, the showerhead was completely missing and the water heater did not work. The owner promised to fix it the next day, but failed to follow through. The dog and the shower head were the only issues I brought up to the owner, but potential renters should also be warned that despite claiming a flush toilet in his listing, the owner will require you to place your toilet paper in the trash can and not flush anything but bodily expulsions. This is a minor inconvenience unless you're suffering digestive issues and the smell of the used tp would quickly stink up the place. Thus it seems irresponsible that this TP issue was never mentioned in the listing. You will also be told told that hair dryers and curlers are considered "high energy appliances" which are prohibited from use in the rental. (I didn't bring any, but this should be more clear in the listing). Oh, and be prepared to have the owner force his way into the home with you, unmasked and uncaring that you are a female traveling alone with kids. And he'll bring his aggressive dog inside with him.

In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat
Our stay at Greg’s place was awesome! He went above and beyond to provide us with firewood, fresh eggs, thorough instructions on how to find the property, and meet us when we arrived. It was great hearing his stories about the land’s history. Hiking and hot springs are nearby. We hope to come back someday!

No place like In-Ko-Pah...
Casa Agave
Casa Agave was the perfect getaway. It is beautiful, quiet, and serene - the desert takes care of you like no other and so does Greg!! He was such a wonderful host and had so many wonderful stories that brought his campground to life! There are so many places to explore and Casa Agave is the perfect place to come back to after your many adventures in the desert. If you are looking for that off-the-grid reset that we all need - look no further. I could not recommend this experience more - there is no place like In Ko Pah retreat!!

Greg has built a pretty amazing place up there. Totally off the grid. He's converted a shipping container into a very comfortable house. Look forward to returning one day.

Silence and Solitude.
In-Ko-Pah Spirit Retreat
Absolutely wonderful. Amazing spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I stayed in #3 which is a bit of a hike uphill from the base camp, but worth a couple trips (in my case) for the solitude and quiet. Greg is one of the friendliest and most welcoming hosts I’ve encountered. Glad I was able to be here.
