An eco-friendly escape awaits at Wildflower Meadow Camping, where the pitches are spacious and the grass grows wild. Located on the northern end of Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula, this off-grid, family-friendly site treats guests to fresh organic produce delivered straight to their tent and comfortable facilities, with hot solar showers... and all within five minutes of Kynance Cove beach.
There are just 15 grass pitches for tents and five for motorhomes, each mown into the otherwise wild meadow, ideal for the land’s ecology. A good distance is maintained between pitches to ensure privacy, interspersed with wildflowers such as Cornish heath, wild mint, and wild vetch. Along with your fellow campers, you’ll share the 48 acres with the family-run farm’s rare breeds; Dexter cattle and Golden Guernsey goats (chat with your hosts to get a hands-on experience; particularly popular with kids).
Wildflower Meadow’s eco-consciousness doesn’t mean that it skimps on creature comforts. The solar-powered showers have hot water, and you can receive daily food deliveries of fresh produce from the farm, including organic goat's milk, artisan goat's cheese, prepared lunchboxes, and seasonable vegetables. Campfires outside your tent aren’t allowed given the wild nature of the site, though there’s a communal campfire where you can share stories with fellow campers.
The entirety of the Lizard Peninsula is yours to explore. The most southerly point of mainland Britain, this region has a remoteness that sets it apart from most other UK coastal holiday destinations. The famous white sands of Kynance Cove are nearby – the tidal beach and its awe-inspiring rock formations only a drive away – as is the quaint fishing village of Cadgwith. Between its close proximity to these idyllic coasts and the laid-back nature of Wildflower Meadow Camping itself, there’s plenty to be charmed by here.
