Fleets Paddock Glamping & Camping

14 units · Glamping, Tents5 acres · South East England, Kent, Canterbury
Welcome to our idyllic back-to-basics campsite, nestled on the outskirts of Canterbury city and surrounded by the natural beauty of Blean Woods. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat that combines the simplicity of camping with easy access to both the city and the coast, you've come to the right place. Our campsite offers a serene and rustic setting, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature. Set up your tent in one of our spacious pitches, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the surrounding countryside. Listen to the gentle rustling of leaves, breathe in the fresh air, and let the symphony of birdsong be your morning alarm. One of the highlights of our campsite is the fantastic cycle path at the Crab and winkle way that winds its way through the enchanting Blean Woods. Hop on your bike and follow this picturesque trail as it leads you through ancient trees, dappled sunlight, and the subtle scents of wildflowers. As you pedal your way along, you'll feel a sense of adventure and freedom, with the beauty of nature unfolding before your eyes. The cycle path eventually takes you all the way to the charming coastal town of Whitstable. Explore the sandy beaches, watch the waves gently roll onto the shore, and relish in the seaside ambiance. Whitstable is renowned for its traditional charm, with its colorful beach huts, picturesque harbor, and delectable seafood. Indulge in the local delicacy – the famous Whitstable oysters – and savor the taste of the ocean. Back at the campsite, we provide the essential amenities to make your stay comfortable. Our facilities include clean and well-maintained washrooms, hot showers, and fresh drinking water. We embrace the back-to-basics ethos, so you won't find electricity hookups here. Instead, immerse yourself in the simplicity of outdoor living, where our communal campfire and stargazing take centre stage. Whether you're a family seeking quality time together, a group of friends yearning for adventure, or a solo traveler seeking solitude, our campsite offers a sanctuary away from the demands of modern life. Disconnect from screens and reconnect with nature, create lasting memories around the campfire, and experience the joy of simple living. Come and join us at our back to basics campsite on the outskirts of Canterbury city. Cycle or stroll through the magical Blean Woods, soak up the coastal charm of Whitstable, and enjoy the serenity of camping amidst nature. We look forward to hosting you on your unforgettable outdoor adventure.

Glamping at Redricks

41 units · Glamping2 acres · East Anglia, Hertfordshire
Beautiful natural lakes glamping site in East Hertfordshire surrounded by farm and fields. The site has one area for glamping and another for camping guests who bring their own tent. There are showers, toilets and mobile washing up sinks in the fields and cold drinking water, as well as kitchen facilities and a BBQ at each glamping unit. Each bell tent has firepits in the open field but not in the wooded areas. It's a 10-minute drive into Sawbridgeworth (or a lovely gentle half-hour walk beside the River Stort following the Stort Valley Way). In town, take a look around the Tudor House Gallery (01279 600112), gathering treats for yourself from the gift shop, or visit some of the many antique shops in the town. If activities are more your style, then you can make use of the various riding stables that are dotted around Sawbridgeworth and Harlow. Hoskins Farm Riding Stables (01279722165) is less than 10 minutes' drive away and caters for all experience levels. The art gallery, Parndon Mill (01279426042) is also nearby taking just over 10 minutes to reach, they have lots of arts and crafts exhibitions and also host various art classes throughout the week. There are several good pubs within walking distance of Glamping at Redricks. The Moorhen (01279 423066) is over a half-hour walk away – casual and relaxed and good for families with kids, you can enjoy their wide range of beers, wines and dinner options in their sunny beer garden. Half an hour's walk will also get you to The Plume of Feathers (01279 424154), where they have a new stone-baked pizza oven and a patio with an outdoor bar, and The Dusty Miller (01279424180) – both are in nearby Gilston.

Camping in Seven Sisters guide

You’ve probably heard of the White Cliffs of Dover, but there’s an equally spectacular set of white cliffs along the southern shores of Sussex—the Seven Sisters. Marvel at the dramatic chalk cliffs from Seaford Head or Birling Gap, or head down to Cuckmere Haven to view the cliffs from the beach. Hikers can also tackle the 12-mile (4-6 hour) Seven Sisters walk along the cliff-tops, part of the South Downs Way national trail. Campers can pitch their tent in the Seven Sisters Country Park or choose from several campsites within the South Downs National Park.

When to Go

Visiting the Seven Sisters is a popular choice for day-trippers from London, and viewpoints can get crowded in July and August. Make an early start to snag a parking spot or opt for a weekday visit out of season to enjoy the views to yourself. Camping at Seven Sisters Country Park is possible from April through October only, but some campsites within the South Downs National Park stay open year-round.

Know Before You Go

  • The Seven Sisters cliffs are located between Seaford and Eastbourne, along the south coast of Sussex. The main access points are from Seaford to the west, or Birling Gap in the east. Parking is available at both sites.
  • There is a Visitor Centre, restrooms, a café, and paid parking at the Seven Sisters Country Park. From the park, it’s a 3-mile walk or drive to reach the cliffs.
  • The Seven Sisters Country Park campsite is a walk-in, tent-only ground with toilets, a cold water shower, and drinking water. You’ll need to bring a stove and all other camping gear with you.
  • The cliff-top walk is exposed, so wear hiking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Coastal winds can be strong, so you might want a light jumper even in summer, and choose a hat with a neck strap.
  • The cliff viewpoint at Birling Gap is wheelchair accessible.
