Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Transportation to and from the island is included with your stay. The stunning 15 minute boat ride to and from Nile Point is one of the many things that makes this a truly unique experience. The second thing you'll need to know is that we offer TWO SITES on the property, a 10x16 TENT PLATFORM and a OCEANFRONT CANVAS TENT WITH ENSUITE (NEW!) with king size bed, in-tent ensuite bathroom and fully stocked outdoor kitchen with potable water, bar fridge and BBQ We have one canoe, one one-person kayak, a two-person kayak, and some paddleboards. Bring your own water exploring devices if you wish. Our beach is rocky (it ain't a sandy beach!), so bring your good water/rock shoes! This is a great place to stay and explore if you love the wild. It's off the grid, so if you want to unplug from devices and do nothing but relax or play in the ocean and explore the forest, it's perfect. Your hosts, Jia and Ric, have been living and working on their beautiful waterfront property for five years, developing a work-in-progress hobby farm complete with zen gardens, orchards, and a vineyard. Mudge Island and its surrounding waterways are home to an abundance of wildlife, including bald eagles, herons, orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, and seals. Guests can enjoy canoe and paddleboard rentals, as well as guided canoe paddling tours through Stuart Channel, False Narrows, and Dodd Narrows—the scenic waterways surrounding Mudge Island. Ric, your host and guide, has lived in the area for most of his life and is highly knowledgeable about the region’s local history and marine life. While Ric entertains guests with fables and legends of the area, co-host Jia can delight your palate with delicious, healthy home-cooked meals for those who prefer a truly relaxing vacation without the need to cook. Meals may be ordered as needed or for the full duration of your stay. Guests are also welcome to order or pack their own picnic lunches and spend the day exploring one of several nearby beaches, each unique and beautiful in its own way. With no commercial services available on the island, you will truly feel immersed in the great outdoors. For those who wish to stay connected, internet service is available on site. Cell phone service may be spotty or unavailable in some areas of the island; however, a reliable signal is available on the property. This getaway is ideal for guests seeking a nature retreat that can be tailored to their preferences—whether that means complete self-reliance or a fully pampered, all-inclusive experience. Additional services, such as massage therapy with a local registered massage therapist, may also be arranged, subject to availability. A lovely place to stay, would definetly come again! Carson and Joanne were such kind and welcoming hosts. We got to feed the chickens and learn more about their property and the bunkhouse. Well supplied kitchen and a cozy living space with a bunch of games (with Catan!) Can't wait to be back!

The Doighouse is a beautiful site nestled in the trees. Listening to the rain on the cabins metal roof was heavenly. The hosts are incredibly considerate, welcoming and warm. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a nice spot to just get away from life for a few days!

Christian's forest sanctuary is just that! The work he has put into the cabin, surrounding grounds and water features is amazing. If fairies were real they would live here! Everything you could possibly need is provided. Bring lots of tea lites with you. I would also recommend bringing headlamps/lanterns if you are staying in the winter time. Christian is an amazing host and a lovely human being. Enjoy your stay, we certainly did.

Weekend Trip to Forest Sanctuary Cabin

My partner and I spent 4 nights/5 days at the cabin in the forest and it was magical. Disconnecting from wi-fi, electricity, and reconnecting to the simplicity of nature and each other was a beautiful way to connect to ourselves and the land around us. We became fire tenderers, watched the sunrise and sunset, befriended with the trees, cried over the beauty of the sky and the world around us. It was a truly unique experience and Christian was so hospitable, going above and beyond in making sure our trip was a good one. He also recommended a bunch of local areas to check out. The people at Roberts Creek and the surrounding area are incredibly nice! There are a lot of cute restaurants, art, and shops to check out. We visited book shops, music stores, unique clothing stores, and more. There was a lot of personality in every place we saw. And the beach was beautiful. We went during the winter and it was raining and cold, but it was also very cozy. We read books and made drawings over candle light. The fire kept us warm and there are plenty of blankets in the cabin. Even though there was no running hot water, it was easy enough to boil water to wash-up or visit the local pool for a hot shower. I would recommend this Forest Sanctuary to anyone looking for a chill place to visit. Christian is very sweet and so was everyone we met. Getting back to nature was fun and I would come back again. It's a great place for a romantic getaway and I'd love to bring friends in the future.

We did end up booking a tour with them of their place which was truly spectacular and original. Me and my parter have already discussed when we will return next. Love the micro-cabin. It is very compact and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the firepit and kitchen. Kito was very healpful and even provided us with extra heater. The water in the outdoor shower is very cold so it could be improved. But im sure that Kito will immediately fix it if you message him. We didnt need to use it during that time so it wasnt a problem for us. Overall, it is a nice place and very private. We also enjoyed the trail.

We had the best experience at strongwater cabins. The cabins are cozy and picturesque, with all the essentials. An electric kettle and mini fridge made our experience so much better, since we were able to store our food and enjoy hot drinks on the chilly autumn nights. The cabin comes with an electric fireplace that kept us perfectly toasty as well. Hot showers and clean bathrooms and area to wash our dishes was so convenient! Cheyenne has put her heart into the property and it shows. The hosts are super accommodating! We even got to use their canoe and paddle out on Waugh Lake, and check out their infrared sauna. The cherry on top is the delightful animals that live on the property. Geese, chickens, mini ponies, guinea fowl, and more. We explored the Skookumchuck trail and checked out the amazing whirlpools. Every inch of this forest is beautiful, made better by our time at the cabin. We will absolutely return! A 10/10 experience.
