MorningStar Woollen farm

16. MorningStar Woollen farm

38km from Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park · 1 site
Retreat to a quiet, living landscape where land, fibre, and story are woven together. Set against expansive valley views, three ecologically sensitive bell tents rest on cedar platforms within a regenerating ecosystem. This is MorningStar Woollen—a working regenerative sheep and flower farm where textiles, beauty, and land stewardship are practiced as one. This is not just a stay, but a slower way of being. The 10-acre camping area invites gentle exploration. A self-guided walking trail winds through the land, with thoughtfully placed plaques sharing the story of restoration, fibre, and regenerative practice. Along the way, observe rotational grazing as it shapes the landscape—an ever-changing pattern of movement, growth, and renewal. Here, the process behind cloth begins in place: in soil, in pasture, in the care of animals, and in the rhythms of the seasons. All sites are walk-in only, preserving the quiet and integrity of the land. Guests are asked to remain within marked areas to support ongoing regeneration. Each tent is intentionally and comfortably appointed for the 2026 season, while remaining fully off-grid. Please bring your own drinking water and come prepared for a more mindful, unplugged experience. The land is shared with wildlife—bears, cougars, elk, deer, and many others. A secure sea can is provided for storing all food and scented items. For those wishing to deepen their understanding, guided farm walks are offered Saturdays at 4pm, offering a closer look at the working systems behind the landscape. To ensure the safety of guests, livestock, and working animals: – No fires – No pets (livestock guardian dogs are on site) – Do not climb or touch fences – Do not feed or pet animals Rooted in reciprocity, this is a place of making and unmaking—where only what is offered is gathered, and care is returned through attention, respect, and craft. Come to rest, to observe, to sketch, to write, to imagine. To reconnect with the origins of material, and the quiet beauty of process.

Welcome to our half-acre homestead in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. We are conveniently located along the main highway, making our property a great basecamp for exploring everything the Comox Valley has to offer — including walking trails, beaches, rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and Mount Washington Alpine Resort, all within a short drive or bike ride. Many trails and outdoor areas are close by and easy to access from our property. We offer a simple RV parking spot for fully self-contained RVs with access to electricity and water if needed. Please note there is no sani-dump or bathroom, so your RV must be fully self-contained. This is a simple homestead RV stay rather than a full-service campground. Our property is a small working homestead and farm stay with a large garden, chickens, rabbits, and a seasonal farm stand where we sell herbal teas, artisan jams and jellies, and farm-fresh goods grown and made right here on the property. Guests are welcome to walk through the garden, visit the animals, and shop at the farm stand during open hours. If you are looking for a convenient location to stay while exploring the Comox Valley and enjoy a casual small farm setting, this is a great spot to park and stay for a few nights. In addition to the RV stay, we also host Wild Edible Plant Walks, garden tours, and seasonal herbal workshops on the property and around the Comox Valley. These are separate bookable experiences that Hipcamp guests are welcome to join if dates align with their stay. Please inquire when booking if you are interested in adding a plant walk or workshop to your visit. The Comox Valley is made up of the City of Courtenay, the Town of Comox, the Village of Cumberland, and the surrounding communities of Royston, Union Bay, Fanny Bay, Black Creek, Merville, Denman Island, and Hornby Island. The Courtenay Riverway Heritage Walk is right across the road and runs along the ocean, through forested areas, around the Courtenay Airpark, and along the Courtenay River, connecting all the way to our downtown core and Simms Park. From our farm stand to Simms Park is just over a one-hour walk or about a 20-minute bike ride. We look forward to sharing our small homestead and the beautiful Comox Valley with you.

A quiet and private forested area for RV camping. We are close to Miracle Beach, at the bottom of Mt. Washington and many of Comox Valley's beaches, hiking and biking trails. Our secluded and meditative forest glade has electricity and running non-potable hot and cold water. There is a small kitchenette, but you will need to be self-contained for water and bathroom. The lawn is perfect for little ones running around. We're working to improve things, but it's pretty basic at the moment! We have very close neighbours that can hear you even if you can't see them. Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park camping guide

Overview

About

Embark on a journey to Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park, where the spirit of adventure thrives amid the untamed wilderness. Here, explorers can immerse themselves in a world of scenic hiking trails that meander through ancient forests and along pristine lakes. While the park's remote nature may not cater to traditional camping, its vast landscapes are a playground for day-trippers seeking solitude and a connection with nature's raw beauty.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is most favourable for outdoor activities. Winter can be harsh, with heavy snowfall limiting access and making trails less navigable. Plan your visit to coincide with the long days and milder temperatures of summer for the best experience.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you're prepared for the park's rugged terrain by wearing appropriate footwear and carrying navigational aids.
  • Check the park's website for any seasonal closures or alerts before planning your trip.
  • Be wildlife aware; carry bear spray and know how to store food safely.
  • Cellular service may be limited, so inform someone of your itinerary and expected return time.
  • Access to facilities such as washrooms and potable water may be limited, so plan accordingly.
