We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company. Birders Paradise! The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales. It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was and the rest is history.

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. The 4-acre pond/wetland is designated 'Provincially Significant' by the Ministry of Natural Resources and is an important part of the Nottawasaga Watershed. This area is renowned for its terrain - the fields are rolling and the views are quite special. You will enjoy a private firepit and private overlook at the pond with hammock. The site isn't visible from the road. Our house is visible from the site but far enough away as to not disturb one another. We have an outhouse with lighting that will make your stay comfortable.

Hemlock Point Campground is set on a private waterway fed by the Black River, nestled among forests and rocky ridges. The river offers a unique swimhole in between rapids, and bass fishing within walking or paddling range. Campers may also park at owners (1426) to shorten the hike to the swimhole (see trail map). Each campsite is spacious with a private driveway, outhouse, picnic table, propane BBQ, bicycles, and more. As well as using the canoe (or kayaks at Brookside) provided, campers are also welcome to hike the marked and groomed waterfront hiking trails throughout the 56 acre property, and just down the road is Mt. Moriah, a Buddhist Temple, and numerous backcountry trails, reserves, and lakes. ATV's are permitted on the road, (gateway to trails to Lingham, Deer Rock, Caniff, and Skootamatta Lakes) and friendly dogs are welcome off leash. This is a unique gelogical landscape, situated between Mt. Moriah, the Elzevir pluton complex and the Black River in an ultramafic zone, with coloured quartz veins and pillowed granite outcroppings. Mixed forest with varied species of deciduous and conifer trees - due to aerial seeding after a forest fire over 80 years ago, leaving charred stumps that can still be found from natural char preservation. Home to pileated woodpeckers, hawks, eagles and kingfishers, otters, fishers, salamanders, bass and bullhead and everything in between, either from the vantage of a hammock or on a hike in the forest this natural site won't disappoint.

Super endroit. Les sites Maple loop en tente ou en tente-roulotte ainsi que le site Riverside en tente seulement sont superbes avec leur plate-forme au bord de l’eau. Brien est vraiment sympathique et est un hôte exceptionnel. Nous revenons à chaque année. Un des meilleurs Hipcamp.

The land was beautiful and well kept. Nice and quite and private. Lots of land and trails. Easy access and directions. Hosts were great. Got some wood and it was dry and made a fire easily. Already planning another trip back.

A few things we will mention but really there is much more that we could say. Space glorious space. Awesome departure point for kayaking. Friendly. Wholesome laidback feel. Level camp spot. Great fire pit. A wood deck by the water. Off grid. This place hit a big chunk of our favorite things. Thank you!!!!

We absolutely loved the site! The directions were very clear, and the host Brien was incredibly kind and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place! We even went swimming, the water was warm, and we really enjoyed every part of the site and everything it had to offer.

Gorgeous property. Each site has shorefront - I’m talkin’ 4-5 feet from the shore! There is a nice group area with a screen room, gas grill, chairs on rocks over the water, oodles of water toys (canoes, kayaks, sups) or just wade out into the water. I was there in mid-August and was surprised that the water was nice, tepid-warm. There are two nice parks (under the bridge and next to canal), shopping, restaurants w/i 10 minutes. Plus, Brien is a fantastic host, welcoming and will share the history of the property and the area. I spent a week and enjoyed the property, exploring the area and Ottawa, but wished I could have stayed longer just to swing in my hammock next to the river. Thanks Brien, Jen, and the boys for a lovely stay!

Gorgeous, natural property, warm river, oodles of boats/sup to play with, nice gathering spot with screen room and grill to congregate at, and wonderful hosts! Brien is a lovely host who tells interesting stories about the history of the property and area. There are a variety of decks and chairs and hammocks directly on the water to choose from. Definitely make use of the sups/kayaks/canoes and head up river to the bridge. There are two nice parks nearby (over bridge and by canal) and shopping with 5-10 minutes. Thanks so much Brien and Jen for a great week.

Very beautiful place!! So happy to have found it. The pull through site is very large and very easy to pull right in. Has a really nice little private deck right by the water to sit on. Hammocks all over, nice adirondack chairs everywhere. Theres a really nice common area with a mosquito tent with a table inside, a bbq and beach area! Nice place to swim. Brien is a fantastic host. Super friendly. Very responsive and accommodating. We will definitely go back!

We had an amazing stay this weekend, even though it was raining a lot! The campsite was beautiful, very private, and exactly what we were looking for. Brian was an excellent host—he came to welcome us, showed us around, and made us feel right at home. His communication was outstanding, and he responded to my questions almost immediately throughout the booking process. We really enjoyed our time here and appreciated how peaceful it was. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

This is a beautiful, secluded camp along the river. I loved swimming to cool off, doing yoga on the deck, and napping in the hammock. Great for dogs!
