It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. Marten River Escapes offers six waterfront campsites with 30 amp hydro service and three non waterfront campsites, one with 30 amp and two with 50 amp service. A couple are seasonal sites, most are transient sites. All have access to potable water faucets. A shared comfort station with flush toilets and showers with hot on demand water is centrally located. There is no sewer connections but we do have a honey wagon and guests can access dumping into our onsite septic tank. We also have one rustic glamping cabin in the campground area and a new 14 unit building under construction on the southeast portion of the property. There is an on site restaurant offering dine-in, patio seating, and take out service. (seasonally operated - hours vary depending on the season) In addition to the amenities available on the campsite you will also have access to enjoy the common shared areas of the property. Our property boasts 1000' of waterfront surrounded by crown land. We have a new shared dock with Muskoka chairs and a (typical Northern Ontario) swimming area in our semi-secluded bay. We recommend water shoes for those who go swimming and to bring a fishing rod (and fishing license) if you want to give that sport a go. A sunshade pergola was just added to the main dock area with several other seating areas scattered around the property providing relaxing water views and spectacular sunsets, all available for your enjoyment. There is a large open area to enjoy a game of frisbee or other lawn games. We also have a few water toys. A canoe, a kayak, a peddle boat and two small (fishing type) motor boats are available for a small rental FEE. You must have a valid boaters license in order to be able to rent the motor boat. All water equipment renters must sign a renters agreement prior to use. Due to sizing and proper fit, for safety we do recommend guests bring their own life jackets/pfd's but we do have some that can be used. We have a private boat launch and for a small extra fee you can reserve a dedicated boat slip space during your stay for your own personal watercraft. Boats or other water toy equipment are NOT to be left on the shore. A few local public boat launches into different lakes are also nearby. For those powersports enthusiasts (ATV's, SXS etc.) there are 100's of km's of crown land trails accessible from our property. We do NOT rent ATV's. There is space to park ONE passenger vehicle along with your rv/trailer or tents on each campsite. VERY large trucks will limit the usable lawn space available on the site. Backwater Paradise was flooded out from a very wet spring and Almost Paradise was created as a backup. We have a new seasonal shower unit at this location, available to all our campers. Check out our extras!! We have 1 tent site, 1 RV site and a 4 season camp with an extra 4 person dome tent to accommodate extra people. This past winter was very forgiving and gave us the opportunity to work on a new bush trail at Backwater Paradise, for visiting nature lovers and plan on keeping it useable in winter. The trail is available to all our campers. . Some is lakefront and some is marsh. There is seasonal berries everywhere here. Please bring binoculars!! Almost Paradise has all of the same benefits as Backwater Paradise campers and just across the road. Including use of the lake, and the nature trail to Left Field and all of the extras. (eggs, firewood sales, shower and paddle boat) In Lake Hope there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area with firepit and a picnic table to enjoy the water and the shoreline. Lately a family of geese have been frequent visitors over there. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. Almost Paradise has a gravel driveway and slopes towards the lake so you still get a good view of the lake. The driveway is the best spot for an RV. Our Muscovy ducks are at Almost Paradise, beside the camping. They are quiet but funny looking 😊 The next property over is our farm, where we free range our chickens and ducks with 2 livestock guardian dogs. Fresh eggs are available.

Welcome to Almost Paradise in Northern Ontario. We are 15 minutes off the Trans Canada highway, north of Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Need internet? We have Starlink!. We also have star gazing and sunsets! As a new camp spot, upgrades at Almost Paradise are ongoing, including renovations to make a house into a cottage. Our 4 season camper, equipped with a woodstove is also now back at Almost Paradise and is available again for those that need accommodations and want a rustic and cozy option. Backwater Paradise was flooded out from a very wet spring and Almost Paradise was created as a backup. We have a new seasonal shower unit at this location, available to all our campers. Check out our extras!! We have 1 tent site, 1 RV site and a 4 season camp with an extra 4 person dome tent to accommodate extra people. This past winter was very forgiving and gave us the opportunity to work on a new bush trail at Backwater Paradise, for visiting nature lovers and plan on keeping it useable in winter. The trail is available to all our campers. . Some is lakefront and some is marsh. There is seasonal berries everywhere here. Please bring binoculars!! Almost Paradise has all of the same benefits as Backwater Paradise campers and just across the road. Including use of the lake, and the nature trail to Left Field and all of the extras. (eggs, firewood sales, shower and paddle boat) In Lake Hope there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area with firepit and a picnic table to enjoy the water and the shoreline. Lately a family of geese have been frequent visitors over there. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. Almost Paradise has a gravel driveway and slopes towards the lake so you still get a good view of the lake. The driveway is the best spot for an RV. Our Muscovy ducks are at Almost Paradise, beside the camping. They are quiet but funny looking 😊 The next property over is our farm, where we free range our chickens and ducks with 2 livestock guardian dogs. Fresh eggs are available.

We really enjoyed the campsite and the overall park was great. From the trails to the dog park, fishing dock, beach area, and clean amenities, the park was well maintained and easy to get around. The host, Monica is fabulous! She is incredibly welcoming and very guest focused - we loved our trip so much that we are likely getting a seasonal site to enjoy the park all season long! The park is very dog friendly, which was a bonus for us and our furry family member. Highly recommend the park for its super homey atmosphere and hidden gems when you're out for an adventure!

This is a very family oriented campground with what appeared to be mostly long term or seasonal residents. Quite a few families with children. The wifi worked at our campsite which was level and easily accommodated our Sprinter Campervan. The bath house and showers were clean with plenty of hot water. The camp host, Ralph, met us at arrival and was very helpful.

The place is nice. Very quiet. One hiccup we had no hydro for the 4 days we were there. Hydro line was malfunctioning and needed a electrician to come fix it. A good thing we had our generator, extra fuel on board. Hopefully next time things will be better. Ps Not a swimming spot! just paddle boarding or kayaking if you don't mind marsh waters to get to bigger waters to swim.

We had a lovely time at bon echo tiny village. It's our first time here with our RV camper. The site was nice and clean and the facilities are well maintained. We were at site 44, which is in the forest lane. It was only a min walk from the office, washroom and pool. The staff was so friendly and lovely. We're about 5 min walk from the dock and had a great time kayaking!

Weekend Trip to Brennan's Hill Camping and Cabins

We had a fantastic long weekend at Brennan's Hill Camping. The place is so beautiful and well-maintained. You can see the attention to detail and to offering of a good experience in each part of the campground. The sites are sufficiently private and have a good size. The bathrooms are very, very clean, and the shower works perfectly. Kim is an amazing host and a wonderful person. Communication is great. She was patient and understanding when we arrived later than expected for our check-in. She lent us extra sleeping bags when we were too cold the first night because we were underprepared for the temperature, and she shared her energy and laughter whenever we visited the office. The campsite is so quiet and beautiful that we ended up staying there most of the time, rather than following our initial plan to go hiking every day. The day we left the site to explore, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful lakes near the campground. We had the opportunity to take a look at the cabins, and they are comfortable and well-designed! We were sad to leave - and we will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our two night stay in the Hairy Foxes site! Incredibly quiet and peaceful. Very friendly and helpful management. While we couldn't have a fire on our site, the communal firepit was just steps from our site. We enjoyed meeting the other campers and the manager kept it well stocked with nice dry hardwood. The bathroom was a work in progress but was immaculate with new fixtures and shower. The night sky was stunning. We will absolutely be back!

We had such a great time at this campsite. We would book back here in a heartbeat. It was exceptionally clean and the property is well cared for. We had a couple other friends at the neighboring sites and we all had a great time around the communal firepit. They provided the wood and a hose nearby to ensure that the fire was put out safely before we all went to bed. We are all planning another trip at the same time for next summer!
