Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Marten River Escapes offers six waterfront campsites with 30 amp hydro service and three non waterfront campsites, one with 30 amp and two with 50 amp service. A couple are seasonal sites, most are transient sites. All have access to potable water faucets. A shared comfort station with flush toilets and showers with hot on demand water is centrally located. There is no sewer connections but we do have a honey wagon and guests can access dumping into our onsite septic tank. We also have one rustic glamping cabin in the campground area and a new 14 unit building under construction on the southeast portion of the property. There is an on site restaurant offering dine-in, patio seating, and take out service. (seasonally operated - hours vary depending on the season) In addition to the amenities available on the campsite you will also have access to enjoy the common shared areas of the property. Our property boasts 1000' of waterfront surrounded by crown land. We have a new shared dock with Muskoka chairs and a (typical Northern Ontario) swimming area in our semi-secluded bay. We recommend water shoes for those who go swimming and to bring a fishing rod (and fishing license) if you want to give that sport a go. A sunshade pergola was just added to the main dock area with several other seating areas scattered around the property providing relaxing water views and spectacular sunsets, all available for your enjoyment. There is a large open area to enjoy a game of frisbee or other lawn games. We also have a few water toys. A canoe, a kayak, a peddle boat and two small (fishing type) motor boats are available for a small rental FEE. You must have a valid boaters license in order to be able to rent the motor boat. All water equipment renters must sign a renters agreement prior to use. Due to sizing and proper fit, for safety we do recommend guests bring their own life jackets/pfd's but we do have some that can be used. We have a private boat launch and for a small extra fee you can reserve a dedicated boat slip space during your stay for your own personal watercraft. Boats or other water toy equipment are NOT to be left on the shore. A few local public boat launches into different lakes are also nearby. For those powersports enthusiasts (ATV's, SXS etc.) there are 100's of km's of crown land trails accessible from our property. We do NOT rent ATV's. There is space to park ONE passenger vehicle along with your rv/trailer or tents on each campsite. VERY large trucks will limit the usable lawn space available on the site. Extra passenger vehicles and/or equipment trailers must park in overflow parking.

Site 30A5 backs onto some trees and faces south with a beautiful unobstructed southwesterly view of the water. It is adjacent to the walkway to the secondary dock. Ideal for a 25-27 foot max trailer, larger units will limit usable space. Anything over 35 feet will NOT fit on this site.

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 40 ft
Site 30A4 is adjacent to our glamping cabin and has a nice private waterfront lookout point nestled in some shoreline trees perfect for a quiet relaxing morning coffee. This site provides the most afternoon shade of all our available sites; however, due to the trees and depending on how a trailer or tent is positioned the waterfront view can be obstructed.

30A8

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 40 ft
Site 30A8 is a narrow waterfront campsite (front & back tip outs will limit usable space) but the position of a trailer/rv will fully face the waterfront providing a gorgeous northwest view and stunning sunsets. The site backs on to some bushes which provides some early day shade and a bit of a noise barrier for the highway traffic. Extra long camping vehicles (longer than 27 feet) will require blocking and will have to do some extensive levelling as the site starts to slope off.

30A6

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 40 ft
Site 30A6 is our largest pie shaped campsite with over 30 feet of water front. The shoreline is a rocky cliff type shore so water is not directly accessible from the site itself. The walkway to our common shared secondary dock area is adjacent to this site. It is an open site with very minimal morning shade and direct sunlight for the remainder of the day.

Marten River Escapes Glamping Cabin

Tiny home · Sleeps 5
We are located in a small hamlet along Hwy 11 N in Northeastern Ontario, surrounded by crown land with many lakes & waterways.  Our property is home to the Landmark Big Fish or Welcome Walleye as some people call it. The nearest town/city is a 1/2 hour drive. We do carry a small amount of convenience items at the cash counter in the on-site restaurant and there is a larger local convenience store with a Beer/LCBO and a provincial park about 3 minutes up the highway. Other than that there is nothing else nearby except other cottages, resorts and year round residences. With 9 campsites (a couple are seasonal sites), a glamping cabin, and a 14 unit building under construction, and the onsite restaurant, our small mom & pop place hosts multiple guests at any given time.  The 3 acres, 1000 feet waterfront property is located adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway. With access to 100's of km of off road trails we are also a recreational powersports (ATV/SXS) friendly place. There is vehicle traffic noise. This Glamping Cabin rental unit is a 1 bedroom + sleeping loft rustic "glamping" cabin (tiny home style) unit located on one of our waterfront campsites. It is a bare bones sparsely furnished space great for those who want a camping atmosphere without the hassle of putting up a tent and/or packing a lot of camping gear. This unit, its amenities, and the base price would be comparable to the "roofed accommodations" (such as rustic cabins or yurts) found at Ontario Provincial Parks. Many describe it as cute or quaint. It is not a stand alone cottage with any luxurious bells and whistles. Occupancy: we recommend NO more than 2 adults and 3 children OR 4 adults maximum with the smallest most agile adult(s) occupying the upper sleeping loft. Loft weight is restricted to 350 lbs capacity. Total occupancy is 5 to allow for the children but please do NOT attempt to book this for 5 adults - you will not be happy. Even 4 adults may feel crowded. There is one double bed in the bedroom area which is separated from the main area with a curtain. In the upper loft there are a couple of twin sized mattresses. There is also a twin pull out loveseat in the main area. The loft is accessible by a vertical ladder. It is a great adventure for kids but will also accommodate agile adults. (Maximum height of the loft is 2-1/2 ft - an adult can sit upright but can not stand). Bring sleeping bags or bed linens if you intend to use the loft we do not provide linens for the mattresses in the loft. There is electricity but NO running water inside the cabin - a water cooler dispenser is provided inside the cabin. There is also an outdoor water faucet on the site with potable water. A comfort station with flush toilets, sinks, and showers with hot on demand water is nearby. Bring those flash lights and bug spray for an enjoyable stay. The cabin does have a new self contained compost toilet for those late night needs but the unit does emit a constant humming sound. Inside the main area of the cabin there is a makeshift counter, a small fridge with freezer, microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, toaster and electric frying pan. There are USB charging ports in the bedroom area. It is furnished with a small dining table, bench seating, and the twin pull out loveseat. There are NO cooking appliances inside the cabin other than the microwave, toaster and electric frying pan. Bring your own dishes, bbq'ing type cookware, and washing basins/equipment if you plan to prepare meals. Outside there is a small deck with a bistro type table and chairs. A small propane BBQ and a butane camp stove are provided which can be used to prepare meals. Propane is NOT provided ! The 1 lb bottles are available for purchase at the convenience counter area in the onsite restaurant. Our property is pet friendly. Be sure to take a moment to say hi to our golden retriever who lives on property he's super friendly and loves everyone. Pet the dog or scratch his ears and you'll have a friend for life. Be aware, you may encounter pets off leash chasing balls and sticks or taking a dip in the lake. If you or your companions are terrified of dogs our place may not be the best accommodations for you.
