Marten River Escapes offers six waterfront campsites with 30 amp hydro service and three non waterfront campsites, one with 30 amp and two with 50 amp service. A couple are seasonal sites, most are transient sites. All have access to potable water faucets. A shared comfort station with flush toilets and showers with hot on demand water is centrally located. There is no sewer connections but we do have a honey wagon and guests can access dumping into our onsite septic tank.
We also have one rustic glamping cabin in the campground area and a new 14 unit building under construction on the southeast portion of the property. There is an on site restaurant offering dine-in, patio seating, and take out service. (seasonally operated - hours vary depending on the season)
In addition to the amenities available on the campsite you will also have access to enjoy the common shared areas of the property. Our property boasts 1000' of waterfront surrounded by crown land. We have a new shared dock with Muskoka chairs and a (typical Northern Ontario) swimming area in our semi-secluded bay. We recommend water shoes for those who go swimming and to bring a fishing rod (and fishing license) if you want to give that sport a go. A sunshade pergola was just added to the main dock area with several other seating areas scattered around the property providing relaxing water views and spectacular sunsets, all available for your enjoyment.
There is a large open area to enjoy a game of frisbee or other lawn games. We also have a few water toys. A canoe, a kayak, a peddle boat and two small (fishing type) motor boats are available for a small rental FEE. You must have a valid boaters license in order to be able to rent the motor boat. All water equipment renters must sign a renters agreement prior to use. Due to sizing and proper fit, for safety we do recommend guests bring their own life jackets/pfd's but we do have some that can be used.
We have a private boat launch and for a small extra fee you can reserve a dedicated boat slip space during your stay for your own personal watercraft. Boats or other water toy equipment are NOT to be left on the shore. A few local public boat launches into different lakes are also nearby.
For those powersports enthusiasts (ATV's, SXS etc.) there are 100's of km's of crown land trails accessible from our property. We do NOT rent ATV's.
There is space to park ONE passenger vehicle along with your rv/trailer or tents on each campsite. VERY large trucks will limit the usable lawn space available on the site. Extra passenger vehicles and/or equipment trailers must park in overflow parking.

We have 60 acres of very private camping. Our land is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. We have loads of trails and a 2500ft canal that leads to Commanda lake. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals.
The site is well maintained and the forest is quiet and beautiful. Guests can enjoy hiking, biking, wildlife watching, and so much more!

Please be courteous and respectful and remove your garbage from the island when you leave. A $300 cleaning fee will apply if the island has been littered.
As noted previously, guests must access the island by water. *WE DO NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO THE ISLAND*. There are a few marinas that may rent transportation if you do not have any yourself. You can try Harpers Marina in Callandar. We do not guarantee that they will provide transportation. Please call before booking this stay.

Very nice land, with many things to do. It really shows that they have worked hard on the place.
Signalisation on site was great, we apreciated having the bay so close and being able to go hike.
Couple of things to know….the bugs in august while we stayed were CRAZY. Our dog wanted to atay in the van most of the time because of that, so bring ton of bug spray.
Also, the campsite #1 is really close from the Glamping (accomodation). A couple was staying with 4 young kids and it was pretty loud.
Our 20’ van fit in the spot, but larger than that would be hard.
I’d recommend campsite #3 for more privacy.
The owner’s dog, who is very kind, is offleash and will probably come say hi. Good thing to know if you have a dog yourself.
The place is well kept, hosts are amazing and overall it was great. Good attention to details from the host!

We had the pleasure of staying at Brad and Brenda’s Pergola Lot One this past weekend, and what a slice of heaven it is! The site was incredibly private and even came with our own private beach. We had perfect weather, and the breeze off the bay kept the bugs away.
Everything was spotless, the showers and washrooms were clean, the garbage drop-off was secure, and the entire site was neat and tidy. The views were absolutely spectacular, and with all the amenities nearby (including a great butcher shop in town), it couldn’t have been more convenient.
Honestly, I’d choose this over a provincial park 10 out of 10 times. We will definitely be back, hopefully next summer. Thank you, Brenda, for such a wonderful stay, hope to see you again next year!

Beautiful spot with plenty of room to spread out. We loved having a bathroom and taking a walk along the mowed trails to stretch our legs. This is a farm turned into an event space for weddings and such.
We had a hard time finding it, the link sent with a pin to the location is incorrect. We had to call the host and get better directions.

My friend and I tented it on a Friday night. Beautiful spot and very private. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves. A bit noisy at night with the hwy being right there, the only drawback. Hospitality was great. Not much signage, but gps will bring you to the 2 pylons set up and make a left to enter the property.

Amazing experience for my first time camping with a few friends. Scott’s land was very large and very nice to stay on. Will be going back in the future. Scott also spent some time with us and helped us get to know the town. He gave us a permit to enter into the Restoule Provincial Park where there are showers, bathrooms and even a beach.

Jennifer is lovely! So helpful & great service. The property is beautiful and off the beaten track. If you want to get away from people and unplug, this is the place for you! When the description says no cell service, it’s not kidding. I did a solo trip, and to contact my husband I had to drive about 8 minutes up the road on hwy 533 just to get 1 or 2 bars of service.
Some things to be aware of - the Little Dipper dome is right next to the Big Dipper dome. There’s a swath of trees between the two sites, but they don’t really provide much of a sound barrier (good privacy, though). Unfortunately, my neighbouring campers were quite loud, which wasn’t ideal.
It’s worth noting, that in summer (I stayed in July), the dome gets uncomfortably hot inside during the day, even with the screen door open, air vent on, and curtain closed and stays that way through the entire day, until the cooler morning/evening hours (enjoyable inside when cooler).
The hosts provide all the essentials, which is awesome! The composting toilet did not smell at all, and was clean/no flies.
I loved the nature sounds very much. The only thing I didn’t like, was the amount of bugs. Bugs don’t usually bother me, but even with bug spray they were incessant, which ruined my plans to soak up nature while there - since the nature experience was my whole reason to go, I was a little disappointed by that.
But I definitely will stay again, maybe in a different season (when there’s less bugs).

. The site is ideal for simple campers looking for a northern getaway. Privy was clean and well maintained. Beautiful rock firepit that has a perfect tortilla warming rock for making tacos. The surrounding land is natural and beautiful! Our dog absolutely loved living her best life off leash and exploring the camp perimeter. Star gazing was also excellent! Scott was a wonderful host, very informtative, accommodating and hospitable. It was a great experience!
