It is located in Kamloops Country in the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia. This is a small, friendly community, located only 45 minutes north of Kamloops, that has all the major conveniences of a city but offers a life of quiet, relaxed living. Surrounded by rolling, forest-covered mountains, the local scenery is an excellent example of why British Columbia is known for its spectacular beauty.

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Unfortunately due to a few incidents where campers did not follow the leash rule, we are no longer permitting dogs on the farm. Cats on leash will be accepted. We have one RV site with septic, water and 50 Amp power and can fit a 40 foot unit and 4 totally private tent sites. There is a full washroom with tub/shower, toilet and wifi access in our old farmhouse which is complimentary during your stay. Should you find that your desired dates are already booked, please reach out to us as we may have a back up spot available. Please keep in mind we are an organic farm homestead that offers an agritourism experience. The view is amazing and the camping area is very large, flat, clean and private. My dog loved wandering around off leash. Very quiet at night except for the thunderstorms we had LOL. Site 10 is not for the weak to access, but its doable in a car as well as long as its not after the rain. But the host said we can take any spot we like, cos it was not busy. Now about the camping spot, this is a great place to be with the stars, Lake nearby, tidy shower and the outhouse is clean. The campsite is away from civilization, which is amazing! The lake is swimmable, host was good and super friendly! Plus the drive from the highway was really scenic. Would of never taken that road if not the campsite, you simply drive right on the coast of the huge lake with the fancy cottages right next to it.

2 nights at Deep Creek Cabin And Tents

We had a wonderful stay at Darcy’s place and would highly recommend it! This was our second visit to the cabin—first in early March when everything was frozen, and again in the summer—and both stays were special in their own unique ways. Darcy is an exceptional host: very responsive and genuinely goes above and beyond. He even took our boys fishing with his son, who is the same age, and they had an amazing time. We truly appreciated his kindness and effort to make our stay memorable. For future guests, we highly recommend renting Darcy’s kayaks if you don’t have your own. Gardom Lake is just a 5-minute drive away and is perfect for a full day of swimming, kayaking/canoeing, and fishing. The cabin itself is cozy and comfortable, with a great hot shower that’s especially appreciated after a day outdoors. In winter, the wood-burning stove made the space extra warm and inviting and added to the charm of the experience. Thank you, Darcy, for being such a welcoming host. We would absolutely stay again and highly recommend this spot!

5 nights at Olich Creek Farm

I had a fantastic time here, I even ended up extending my stay two days. Heather and her mother were so helpful and friendly, I was solo and they watched out for me and told me events and places to check out. The animals all seem so content, and the way the different animals all happily cohabitat is amazing. The area had a ton to check out as well, I wish I had more time to stay! It's a slow paced, peaceful oasis and it was perfect for a relaxing week to recharge. I'm already thinking about a return trip in the spring :)

1 night at Herman Lake Wilderness Campground

Me and my partner both agreed that this campsite was one of the prettiest we'd stopped at thus far. There were lots of bugs, but that was to be expected given the beautiful lake a few meters from the campsite. The hosts were very welcoming, and helped us get to the site, as we'd gotten lost on the way. Off the bat, they were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to spend the night comfortably. The campsite itself was beautiful and spacious, with little to no light pollution, and you could see the constellations clearly. The bathrooms were very clean, and the running water was a huge help for hand and dish washing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we cant wait to visit again :)

The view from the site was beautiful even with all the smoke we've been having and falling asleep to the sound of crickets was very peaceful. We only stayed one night but Gill was really accomodating of our later check in and we lived the little farm store!

Awesome place with a lot of great hospitality. There is 3 BBQ grills, two sinks, two large showers, an electric bug buzzer, you name it! The only thing is that the washrooms are pit washrooms, but other than that, the view, nature all around you... it will be the best campsite you'll ever visit!

About

Tucked into the hills of the Thompson-Okanagan’s Shuswap region, Adams Lake Provincial Park features rustic camping on a large, deep lake suitable for all kinds of watersports. The park includes three campgrounds, two of which are marine access-only with backcountry walk-in sites, and all of them rural and secluded. Adams Lake is a deep and long lake, excellent for boating, fishing, water-skiing, and windsurfing. The main vehicle-access campground at Bush Creek features forested sites with access to a pleasant, sandy beach area. In fall, the Adams River south of the provincial park is home to the incredible natural spectacle of millions of sockeye salmon returning to spawn in the shallow gravel of the riverbed.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Camping at Adams Lake Provincial Park (Bush Creek) and the two marine-access campsites function on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance reservations are note accepted.
Be sure to check seasonal opening and closing dates.

When to go

Adams Lake Provincial Park is busiest during July, August, and into September. Boating and fishing on the large lake are very popular, as are watersports such as windsurfing and kayaking.

Know before you go

The park is subject to high water in May and June.
Adams Lake Provincial Park doesn’t have wifi, and cell phone service can be spotty.
Potable water is not available in the park so bring your own drinking water.
