Weekend Trip to Everhill Farm

What a great weekend camping at Riverbend site, it was right beside the river. You weren't close to the next camper you had privacy, good trails to go hiking and wasn't bad for fishing too. Josh and his son where great host and friendly. Every time Josh drove by he'd stopped by to check up make sure everything is going good or if you needed anything.

We absolutely loved our stay at Nature’s Acres! The property is stunning—peaceful, well cared for, and full of natural beauty. The wide open fields, serene wooded trails, and quiet, spacious campsites made for the perfect getaway. We felt so blessed to have found this spot. It was clear that a lot of thought and love has gone into creating such a welcoming space. The fire pit, picnic table, and provided firewood were great touches, and the swimming pond and kayaks were an amazing bonus. Everything was clean, quiet, and respectful. The hosts were kind, helpful, and quick to respond when we had questions. It truly felt like a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Weekend Trip to White Pine Forest Farm

Melanie is a warm, kind and attentive Host. The bunkie is close to Melaine's home which was fine, it's like having close neighbors that respect your space and have boundaries. The bunkie is small and cute, is comfortable and there is a fan to help with heat during these crazy heat waves. The firepit area is quaint and private and there were fire starters and plenty of wood to enjoy the fire. You can cook on the open fire but depending on your needs, you might want to bring a portable bbq or a coleman stove. Their property is beautiful and peaceful with trails to walk on (bring bug spray). Melanie gave clear directions to get there and great directions to the beach which is important when you struggle with being directionally challenged...lol! I would definitely return again. Weekend Trip to Beaver Ranch

What a great little spot, right on the river! My site was well shaded, had good flat options for my tent, and it was relaxing to be able to hear the sounds of the river. I added firewood to my stay and it was well worth it to not have to go hunting for some on the roadside. Angela popped by shortly after I got there to check in, appreciated. Perfect spot!

Weekend Trip to Beaver Ranch

I recently stayed at this campsite and had a great experience overall. The place looked exactly like the photos and description—right beside the river, which was beautiful and made me want to camp there. Although there isn’t full shade, it was a bit windy and the coolness from the river made it comfortable. We enjoyed watching friendly people kayaking and tubing by the river, waving as they passed. Angela was very responsive and detailed in communication, both before we arrived and when we were leaving. Also, when i let her know that i'm scared of dogs she was very considerate in keeping them away away from our site as much as possible which I really appreciated (the dogs were very friendly though). On our last night we went to the drive-in movie nearby as recommended in the description. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience in a beautiful riverside location with nice extra activities nearby. Thank you Angela for having us in your beautiful property and for being kind host. I will definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to camp beside the river. 💯

Weekend Trip to Back 2 Zen

Back 2 Zen is a private, tranquil camping spot thriving with an abundance of greenery and good vibes! We camped during very hot weather and were able to live and sleep comfortably due to the surrounding forest and short commute to the water. The highlight of our stay was the complete and total privacy offered, which is hard to find during the summer camping season. Communication with the hosts was quick and efficient. Fantastic camping site!

We had a wonderful stay at Carl Pepper! The place was serene and beautifully maintained. Carl was extremely cooperative and accommodating, especially at the last moment when another family joined us. The surroundings were peaceful, and everything looked perfect. The pond was absolutely beautiful—clean and deep—but not suitable for small kids. However, the deck over the pond was like the cherry on top; it added a special charm to the whole experience. We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids, and all of us had a fun and memorable time. Highly recommended for families or small groups looking for a quiet and scenic getaway

This was our second time staying here this summer, this time at the Millbank site. Another amazing weekend and Josh is a fantastic host, making sure you have everything you need. The site is a little noisier being by the highway, but you can block it out easy and the layout of the site makes up for it.

Beyond that, we had an absolutely excellent time. The grounds are stunning and so huge, we couldn’t hear any other campers at all. We’re so excited to come back and stay for longer. We had such a wonderful experience staying at this campsite! The location was peaceful, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. What made it even more special was the host, incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always available if we needed anything. You can really tell they care about their guests. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and cozy getaway. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Weekend Trip to White Pines Cabin Retreat

We loved Gillian and Jim’s riverside cabin. Our favourite part was swimming and relaxing on the tubes tied up to the side of the river. We also enjoyed playing the provided axe game, and using the swing. The cabin was clean, had lots of supplies, and there was some limited power in the cabin that powered a mini fridge and lighting, which was an awesome perk. The outhouse was clean as well, and you can still smell the fresh pine from the construction of it. The walk from the parking to the cabin was a few minutes through a nice trail, and the hosts gladly brought our gear to and from our car during check-in and check-out with their atv buggy. The hosts also gave us privacy, but were available if we had questions. We also spent some shopping time at a few vintage/thrift stores in Durham, and enjoyed a dinner at Marilynne restaurant in Markdale. These were great additions to our trip. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to relax riverside. Thank you Gillian and Jim for sharing this special place with us. We hope to be back!

We had an amazing time camping at the Riverbank site at Everhill Farm this weekend with our two young kids and two dogs. Josh was incredibly kind and attentive and we appreciated his hospitality and that of those in his family or supporting the campers! Kids had a blast fishing and catching huge crawfish and we even tried floatie tubes on the river. We walked the dogs around the beautifully well maintained property enjoying the views and observing a surprise apiary. The campsite itself was incredibly spacious and private, sounds of the river made it that much more relaxing. Quick 5 min trip to and from town if needed. Beautiful spot, easy camping, would definitely recommend, we’ll definitely be back to this spot! Thank you Josh and family for a wonderful weekend!

Learn more about this land: !!!!!!ONLY area A is still available to camp on!!!! The land is framed by the historic Bruce Trail to the north, Billy Bishop airport (only a few small prop-private flights daily) to the west, Concession 6 N on the East, and Highway 26 on the south end of the property. There is a forest on the north end of our land where the bruce trail runs through (C) and the farm sits more to the south end (A). There's a pine-forest that one has to hike into (B- see map in photos). Generally, the area is close to swimming in Lake Huron, the property is large (100 hectares) and the neighborhood is large grain. This means you can have a chunk of the forest all to yourself. For area A you can drive in the main driveway and park by the house/ barn or on the field. Or walk to a camping spot. No 4 wheel drive is necessary. Please stay away from the Barn as it is dangerous to be close by. For area C you can access the fields from Concession 6 N at one of the gates past (North) of the driveway. You will need a 4-wheel drive to not get stuck in the field. Please do not park on the agricultural field. For area B You will park your car behind a gate right off Highway 26 and hike in to find a site to pitch a tent. There are about 3 spots for cars behind the first set of Pines. You might need a 4-wheel drive. It's completely up to you where you set up camp. We ask that you do not light any open fires as this is a coniferous forest. Feel free to walk in as far you want to find your spot. If you walk too far you will come up to a field and the farmhouse. We ask that you do not camp on the agricultural fields.

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Situated beside the town of Tobermory, Fathom Five National Marine Park is a one-hour and 18-minute drive from Southampton, making it an easy day trip. Book a scuba diving tour to see 22 historic shipwrecks dotted across the lake bottom, or hop in a kayak and paddle to Flowerpot Island’s natural rock pillars carved by waves over thousands of years. Inglis Falls Conservation Area

Close to Owen Sound and just over a 30-minute drive from Southampton, Inglis Falls Conservation Area features 200 hectares of forested grounds with 7.42 kilometres of trails. Inglis Falls—an 18-meter-high waterfall—is one of the main draws. Visit in winter to view the awe-inspiring array of icicles, get a workout on snowshoe and cross-country trails, and cozy up at a tent campsite with a firepit or a cabin with a wood-burning stove to dry off snow-soaked clothing. RV campgrounds with full-service amenities like dump stations, water hookups, and wifi access are also available.

When to go

June, July, and August are universally-loved for Southampton visits when the weather is warm with very little rain. Expect bigger crowds in summer, so traveling in May or September when the weather’s still pleasant and the tourist attractions are less busy offers a quieter experience. Freezing temperatures and snow start in December and last until February—prime conditions for cross-country skiing and photographing frozen waterfalls.
