We are 95acres of gorgeous natural land with a private lake! Featuring luxurious Rooftop Tents by Cascadia Vehicle Tents!
Each site offers a brand new Rooftop Tent (RTT) with queen size memory foam mattress, perched above an indoor/outdoor structure with camp stove and dining area - all fully screened, with more space for tents on each site too! Each site also has its own dedicated outhouse and fire pit!

Welcome to Campsite in the Pines, a one acre lot surrounded by forest that you have all to yourself - located in beautiful cottage country, near the east gate of Algonquin Park. These are the Hastings Highlands!
Within a 10 minute drive you'll find an abundance of lakes, including the beautiful Papineau Beach—a picturesque child-friendly and swimmable lake with shallow waters. It also offers breathtaking sunset views! The east gate to Algonquin Provincial Park is a scenic 30-minute drive, while hiking trails suitable for all skill levels can be found closer at Lake St. Peter Provincial Park.
The campsite includes a canoe, 3 paddles and 3 life jackets. THERE IS NO WATER ACCESS from the site, so all watercrafts must be transported by vehicle. Ratchet straps will be provided to secure the canoe to your roof racks.
The spacious campsite has pull-through access for trailers, and space for up to 3 tents. The site is surrounded by a variety of tree and plant species while the quiet nights encourage visits from wildlife, including grouse, deer, moose, and turkeys. The campsite comes with a fire pit, picnic table and a small shed for storing lawn chairs and other items. Tucked at the back of the property sits a comfortable and clean outhouse that was newly renovated and restored in Spring 2024. Hand sanitizer, air fresheners, and ventilation ensure the outhouse stays fresh. Garbage removal will be provided. Unlimited water for cleaning purposes will also be provided. Guests must bring their own potable water.
The campsite is 5 minutes from small-town Maynooth, which is known for its unique vintage shops and selection of art studios and galleries and 30 minutes from Bancroft, the Mineral Capital of Canada.
While the site is not directly connected to any trails, a short stroll down the road leads to an access to Papineau Creek. Nearby old logging roads make for easy and accessible on-foot adventures. The Hastings Heritage trail is just down the highway.

Cozy cabin suitable for 1-2 people. This is a small heated 8 x 10 cabin with a queen-sized bed for sleeping and an outhouse for your use. The cabin has minimal cooking items for your use, Coleman stove, percolator for coffee, and campfire tripod are available. You will need to bring your own bedding, toiletries, and utensils for cooking. Please leave the cabin exactly as you found it. You will need to bring your own propane for the Coleman stove and Martin heater.
In the winter you can ice fish, cross country ski, hike on Baptiste lake or hop on the nearby snowmobile trail for days of riding. Situated very close to Algonquin Park, there is ample opportunity for hiking and biking in the summer months. Groceries and supplies are available within 20 minutes of the cabin.

A beautiful and accessible but secluded spot! Great for a relaxed car camping experience. The host was helpful and responsive. Fire pit and provided chairs/picnic tables were all in excellent condition. Bathroom also excellent and clean. 10 / 10 would camp again!

Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

We had a great time at George's site. Everything was well thought out, nice private site and the swimming hole was fantastic. George was easy to reach and quick to respond to any questions. The Gazebo was beautiful and probably the nicest outhouse I've ever used. Definitely will go again!

Weekend Trip to Camp Rose Island
Sarah’s arrival instructions were perfect (our GPS definitely said we arrived before we arrived). We ended up being able to drive all the way in to our site in our Corolla, there was only one rock that stuck out a bit but Sarah warned us about it. The site itself was secluded and quiet, a good distance away from the next closest site. The lake was lovely, the land is lovely, Sarah is lovely; all around a lovely experience 💚

Staying at the Forest Site was a top notch experience! Sarah and Will were excellent hosts. Sarah met our car at the road when we arrived and showed us to our site so there were no issues at all in finding the campsite. The cooking area was so nice to have, especially since there was a fire ban and we couldn’t cook over the fire pit. The supplied tent was very roomy and comfortable and we also had plenty of space to pitch other tents. The Forest Site felt very isolated and private from the other sites. The shared beach area and swim dock were great and located on a beautiful private lake. Highly recommend and I hope to stay here again!

The perfect space to disconnect from the every day hustle and bustle. We loved the silence and peaceful nature of being here! Will met us with a friendly welcome when we arrived and showed us to our site. We spent 4 nights; canoeing and spending time in the water while at night feeling memorized by a sky full of stars! We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone who truly loves being in nature and off grid camping!

Everything met our expectations at the forest site. 2 min walk to the lake which was nice. Enjoyed the canoes, some fishing and the paddleboard. It rained the whole time but that's out of everyone's control. The provided propane stove was handy. Just be sure to bring your own cutlery, pots, pans, napkins, etc... one person slept up on the bunk, while I set up a cot below. We both slept well. Recommend this to others looking to escape into the woods and not have to worry about bringing a tent.

This place is amazing. Nice flat spot to setup camper. Although there was a fire band on the fire pit look amazing with lots of gravel and stone around. Hopefully next next we can use it. The outhouse was amazing so clean and fresh with the pine shavings for the toilet. Made it smell nice.

2 nights at Camp Rose Island
It was quiet and rustic. The sites are all spread out nicely. The door to the screened shelter has quite a step to get in. But you can get in to from the side where the tent is. The tent was roomie. The lake is weedy and has sinky bottom, but deep enough in the middle where the floating dock is. There was a canoe and paddle board which was nice. So you can get out to the floating dock to have a swim. The outhouse was.your typical one. I would suggest adding some screen at the top of it to allow some light in it and it was a good distance from the tent about 60+ feet away. I would like to try the lake side site if a rent again next year, you get your own little dock and it looked like the lake was deeper along the shore line making it easier for a swim then the other dock. Overall would recommend.

We had a great time camping on Kristina’s land! The property is beautiful and has lots of space. We also really enjoyed having the outhouse with the hand wash station, which was very clean. I’d definitely recommend this site and would for sure come back in the future!

Sarah's land was a wonderful place if you're used to the backcountry, but need to have car access for whatever reason. Our site was right on the lake with our own private dock. It was fairly secluded from everyone else, and the dogs were able to remain off-leash, which they absolutely loved. We stayed with a group of 6 adults and 3 dogs, and there was plenty of space for two extra tents. The cooking shelter was a HUGE PLUS that provided protection from the bugs, and the small lake was perfect for swimming and floating. Sarah's lovely co-host Will greeted us at the entrance and guided us to our spot, which was nice. We had 2 AWD cars at the site, and we left one RWD car back at the entrance. If you don't have AWD, I wouldn't sweat - it's a short and easy walk in. We would definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Rose Island
We had a lovely stay at Sarah’s forest’s site. It has the privacy that most spots lack. Both Will and Sarah were very warm and helpful with everything. I suggest to anyone going to have a 4Wd vehicle to drive to the spot, otherwise pack light because there are some hills to conquer.

This is my second time camping here and it will likley not be my last! Absolutely love the complete privacy, and on site bathroom thats been always stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, and soap for hand washing. My family/friends adore this spot and so do our dogs :). We even brought a telescope this year to look at the planets and starts as the sky is so clear and beautiful! Thanks to the host once again for everything! ♡

We recently camped at the Waterfall Rooftop Tent site at Camp Rose Island, and it was one of the most peaceful and unique getaways we've had.
The location is amazing—tucked deep in nature with the sound of a waterfall nearby that instantly puts you in relaxation mode. The rooftop tent was clean, spacious, and really comfortable, and the added shelter made it easy to cook, chill, and stay dry no matter the weather.
One of the highlights for us was the off-road access. If you're into 4WD adventures, the drive in is part of the fun—it really adds to that feeling of getting away from everything. Once you're there, it feels completely private and untouched.
There’s also a beautiful private lake on the property, and the view is absolutely stunning. We spent time just sitting and taking it all in—so peaceful and scenic. Whether you’re hiking, exploring, or just relaxing by the water or fire, it’s a spot that really lets you slow down and enjoy.
Everything was well-maintained and thoughtfully set up, and the host clearly cares about creating a great experience. We’d absolutely recommend this to friends who want something remote but still comfortable. We'll definitely be coming back. Thank you for sharing the place with us.
