Had an amazing stay at Sean’s place in the beginning of October. He was so accommodating and friendly. We had everything we needed and Sean was responsive to our messages. The lake is a short walk away and even though it was late in the season, we had warm enough weather to take a dip. We stayed on the landing site and had an overall amazing experience. Will definitely be back again. We went exploring and made a couple of new friends in the area as the people we encountered were very friendly. Not a single complaint and it’s nice for people who want to forgo the crowded campgrounds.

It started raining right as we arrived and didn't stop until the next day, yet it was still a great trip! There's something special about this place!
It feels very private and tucked into the woods, but there's a gravel road not far away, so you'll hear vehicles from time to time. Or people walking and talking and you'll think there are people in the bush, but they pass eventually.

Sean's property offers a diverse camping experience between the 3 units, lots of privacy and hiking trails. Sean is also an excellent host. Very kind and attentive to his guests. Frequent communication and just all round good vibes. We shot a movie on his campground which lent the perfect atmosphere for our scenes. I look forward to returning to Sean's property for the next camping getaway!

As always, Sean was a perfect host (very communicative and accommodating). On this trip, we rented Sean's canoe and explored a nearby lake and went fishing. We also hiked Sean's land and went into nearby Maynooth to check it out. 10/10 experience!

Sean is super friendly, responsive and helpful; also willing to provide recommendations and directions. The site was tidy and offered a picnic table with a cooking station. The trails in the surrounding woods were fun to take the dogs on, too! A great first Hipcamp experience for us.

We stayed for two nights and had a good time. The site was easy to find with Sean’s instructions and was exactly as expected, private enough, peaceful, and easy to settle into.
We spent most of our time beach hopping nearby, then came back to a chill by the fire. No complaints, just good vibes and a solid spot to unplug.

I absolutely loved camping at Sean’s land! Me and my dog needed some time away from the city and I couldn’t have picked a better spot, and a better host! Sean was so lovely and attentive to our needs, gave me all the amazing tips to make sure my solo trip went smoothly. Accessing the site was easy given that I had an suv, if you have a smaller car I think it’s still doable, or theres an option to park your vehicle near the clearing too and walk to the site.
I enjoyed watching the clear sky full of stars (there was a meteor shower during our stay!), hearing the animals and the birds and having a campfire. Felt really safe and secluded in this place. During the day, my dog and I would go on hikes in the surrounding areas and to Algonquin as well…the East gate is about a 40minute drive from Sean’s. All in all, it was a great experience, I would definitely come back!

Our stay here was wonderful. The site was decently flat with ample room for our small teardrop camper. The bathroom is a very short walk away, and was really clean and well stocked. Sean, the host, was very welcoming and kind. He checked up on us to see if we needed anything, or had any questions. We look forward to staying again sometime in the future.

The rock pile landing camping spot was ideal! Easy to access and beautiful woods. Plus we got to see a beautiful sunset over the lake. Sean is very responsive and accommodating. We'll definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

We were looking for a last-minute escape from the city, and The Hemlock Ridge was exactly what we needed to unwind. We brought our truck with a rooftop tent, and our friend arrived with her Jeep and trailer—also rooftop tent-equipped. Both setups fit perfectly, with lots of flat space and room to spread out.
The outhouse was, no joke, the cleanest we’ve ever encountered while camping. The picnic table at our site was spotless and came in super handy—we didn’t even need to pull out our own gear. It’s little touches like that that make a big difference.
At night, the area was beautifully quiet, with zero light pollution and a breathtaking view of the stars. Our dogs were in absolute heaven—roaming, sniffing, and exploring the open space.
The location is ideal for anyone looking to adventure: you can hit trails by foot, Jeep, ATV, or side-by-side right from the site. Maynooth is just minutes away, and Bancroft is a short drive, so you’re remote but still have access to essentials.
Sean was a fantastic host—welcoming, helpful, and offering firewood on site at a very fair price. He’s currently working on developing more campsites across his expansive property, and we’re already planning to return to check them out.
This is hands-down one of the best off-grid camping spots we’ve visited—quiet, clean, dog-friendly, and overlander-approved. Highly recommend staying at The Hemlock Ridge!

We absolutely loved this spot! Very private so our pups could be off leash the whole time. Having a tarp already set up was a blessing as we didn't have to struggle with our own. Sean was very friendly and extremely helping with any questions we had! He also went above and beyond to send us all the things to do around us like antiques and cafes. The town near by is very cute and the bakery is unbelievably good. All in all would recommend this place and Sean as a host any day!

Fantastic spot, Sean was super welcoming and friendly, and it was great getting a tour of amazing off grid life they have there! Campsite was very private, felt deep in the woods, the first extra shelter was great for any rain, but still very close to town if need be, and phone signal was still great for me if needed. HIGHLY recommend

My dog & I had a lovely labour day weekend at Hemlock Ridge! The site is huge, extremely private, and I had no trouble driving the trail in my little car. Sean communicated well leading up to and during our stay, and gave great local recommendations for things to do. The lake is a short drive or decent walk to the end of the dirt road, and the boat launch was perfect for a quick dip. Sean had setup a big tarp over the picnic table and a tent spot which came in handy when it rained on the last night. I would definitely recommend this site for those looking for a private getaway into the woods 🏕🌲🌌 thanks again Sean!

My partner and I had an amazing camping experience at Sean's site. It was secluded, quaint and had extras that we really appreciated, like the chairs and picnic table. Sean was very communicative and really helpful! He helped us achieve all our camping goals and then some. We couldn't have asked for a better host. We explored a couple of nearby lakes (there are so many in close proximity) and really got to know the community of Maynooth. 10/10 experience!

I enjoyed camping on Sean’s site. It offered sunny and shady areas, it was quiet, and it was close to a couple of lakes which were perfect for paddle boarding. I hope I can come back in cooler weather, explore the property and spend more time here.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time for her birthday vacation. Very close to the lake and a nice boat launch. The site was spacious and secluded which was nice, cannot recommend this site more and would love to be back, thank you Sean for hosting

It's a beautiful campsite. Very secluded and private! Sean was so helpful. He always made sure we had what we needed and gave recommendations on activities based on what we liked to do, but also gave us full privacy. The swimming spot by the boat dock is beautiful. The water is clear and clean. The site has everything you need. To get to the site, you have to venture through the forest along the ridge. You'll need a SUV, but I was there when it rained and the road got muddy but I always had traction and I didn't have any problems getting through. The site is on a ridge, so it's not level ground. There is level space for a tent.

Nice secluded spot close to beaches (15 min drive) and a perfect getaway site for a real camping experience. Has a clean outhouse and a nice firepit. Bancroft is 20 minutes away.

It was a very beautiful and secluded sight. The best beach I've been to in many years is close by. It was great to not have to worry about putting our dogs on a leash. Lots of solar lights, wood, grills etc and other amenities such as the outhouse, clothes line etc.

Sean’s trailer was very cozy and had everything we needed for our weekend trip to Algonquin. The campfire place has the best view at night, perfect for stargazing!
The trailer had everything we needed. It also had heat, which was essential for our stay in October cold.
It’s isolated and quiet which makes the site very peaceful. Plenty of space to do a cookout during summer.
Would love to come back next season :)
