With 80 acres of The Land Between- the ecotone where the Great Canadian Shield meets the St. Lawrence Lowlands- it's easy to live well. Kilometres of trails criss-crossing the property, minutes' drive to larger networks of cross-country ski trails and lakes for big and small boating, swimming and fishing or getting the necessities at the local family-owned grocery store, or hardware store mean you really don't have to go far to get big and small adventures in every day. We can all watch the birds- big and small, visit trees and waterfowl migrating with the seasons over the wetland. We have a number of canoes, paddles, PFDs and safety kits, along with all the camping equipment you'd need for day adventures or backcountry canoe camping trips available at an additional coompetitive rate. Silent Lake is a beautiful provincial park 15 minutes' drive to the north with more cross country ski trails, a front-country zero motor boat lake (hence the name). There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.

Please note we have strict quiet times from 9pm to 8am. The property is just a 10-minute drive from beaches, restaurants, and hiking trails. Moon Gate farms is an ideal getaway for a nature experience and perfect for mountain walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, or couples looking to escape into the wilderness. We have two resident Bernese mountain x black retriever dogs who love to bark when campers arrive! They are friendly and settle quickly when told to sit and chill. The best way to get directions is to use Google Maps and follow directions to Moon Gate Farms in Roberts Creek. We are pinned on the map on East Wilson Forest Service Rd.

Quiet, getaway with the view of stars each night. Open fire pits and cosy log burner in the tent for the cooler nights. The beds were super comfortable with high grade thread sheets. It was a wonderful experience and we would do it again.

We enjoyed staying on this hobby farm. The owners are very warm and friendly and respond to messages. The farm has lovely spots with shade. There is a very nice outdoor kitchen with a large BBQ, induction stovetop, microwave and toaster oven. We BBQ’s squash from the garden to add to our burger meal. We were encouraged to use things from the garden including lots of plants to make herbal teas. The place looks like it just needs some sheep / goats to make it look like a true farm!

The place was nice and clean, the stay was very pleasant. However, the Fox Den was the only tent without an electric light (all the other tents did have a light). So, if you need light inside the tent book one of the other tents.

Weekend Trip to Natures Way Yurt & Spa

The yurt and nature spa were absolutely fantastic. My sister and I spent two nights at Kaitlyn’s place. The yurt was so cozy and the mattress was the perfect firmness. The nature spa was so relaxing. We appreciated that we could use the spa throughout our stay and spent the first night in the hot tub stargazing. Kaitlyn recommended a hike for us to do which was lovely - we then came back to the spa all set up for an elemental circuit including a clay mask and seaweed. We felt so good afterwards! Kaitlyn was so kind and welcoming, would stay here again!

Beautiful structure near the creek. Big ol raft in the water with a ZIIIIPPLLLLIIIINNNEE that was much enjoyed Twinkly lights on trail leading to the igloo No wood provided, dishes were dirty from previous folks, BBQ didn’t work Beautiful pond!

We had a lovely time in the Igloo. The location is beautiful and the water was clean and swimmable. The zip line and the slide were pretty fun too. We oiled have loved if the toilet was not beside the bed, it doesn’t smell lovely while in bed. Nonetheless we had a lovely time. Cleaning guy crept up on us before 11 am check out and scared the bejesus out of us. Maybe coming after 11 am would be a nice touch. The sound of the river while sleeping was a plus ! Bring a fan if you are visiting in the summer it is hot. The sauna is lovely and close to the water so you can plunge when it’s hot;)

Weekend Trip to Uxbridge Igloo

We had an amazing time at the Uxbridge igloo this summer. Our favourite part was the personal "lake" on the property that was perfect for swimming and cooling off after a hot day. They had a full BBQ and blackstone for cooking. The sauna looked cool but we never used it. Igloo itself is very nice, definition of glamping. Only issues were that the igloo gets really hot in the summer, bring a fan or two cause the A/C doesn't work. There also wasn't any utensils for cooking but they had everything else - working toilet, toiletries, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. We will definitely be back soon!!

We enjoyed our time there. The outdoor kitchen was great and had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning up. The outdoor showers were beautiful, I could stare up at the Eagle’s Nest thru the clear ceiling. Some of the sites had no names and so it was difficult to find our site. Several people had this issue. Tina’s number goes to a voicemail that has not been set-up so we could not reach her by phone. Some people showed up and she did not show their reservation. That was frustrating for some. Also, there is not a beach in the traditional sense of a beach. There is a nice long boardwalk thru a grassy wetland with birds, ducks, geese, and groundhogs. It takes you to a spot where you can see the water far away. Shonna, the assistant was a great help! She worked non-stop making sure everyone was comfortable and happy! Not such a fan of the port-potties but we survived. Lol😆

Was a cozy place to stay the beds were so comfortable. Neat outdoor shower experience you can see the eagle nest above. Was so nice to have a morning coffeee and see the eagle and her baby flying around and being busy bringing stuff to the nest. I loved the outdoor shared kitchen. Had a chance to meet some other campers there who were all friendly made a nice experience for us. No pressure. Friendly atmosphere. Wish we stayed there longer. Will come back if we go to the area again.
