The yurt was perfect for a couples weekend getaway! The property was an impressive collection of cool places to stay, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. With a few lakes and charming small towns nearby, this is the perfect place to go if you’re not afraid of a little deet.

The Happy Hut

What a beautiful relaxing spot!! The Happy Hut was the perfect size for me as a solo traveler and the bed was super comfortable. The outdoor bath was amazing, it took a while to fill to a comfortable level but that’s expected! Bathing in nature is a must! The bathroom was close by and very welcoming for an outdoor bathroom. No harsh smells and very clean. The Happy Hut wasn’t as private as I thought however this actually worked out for me in the end, as a solo female traveler it was comforting to know I wasn’t completely isolated in the woods! Very much enjoyed my relaxed evening sitting by a fire and soaking up nature.

We absolutely loved camping here. Pat and Geri were so lovely and welcoming. On our first night we booked another weekend coming up. It’s our new favourite spot. We spent a lot of time walking some of the trails and taking in nature. They were also kind enough to lend us a hand when our car didn’t start as we were leaving. 10/10!

Private oasis in the forest

My experience at the yurt was exceptional. It was the perfect blend of camping and amenities. The barbecue, utensils, provided firewood (and axe), along with the roominess of the Yurt made for a carefree comfortable. The yurt is in a secluded clearing in the wood so you feel like there is nobody else around yet the area has a lot of trails in case you need to walk somewhere. The hosts were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this rental.

Love the Vibe

Geri & Pat and their friendly security pooch Piper were very welcoming and helpful. Shady Nook was perfect for me, and I wish I could have stayed longer! I took a long walk around the property and enjoyed the unique sites and happy vibe they have created. I’ll be back :)

Rosebud Cafe

This was the best possible place to spend a rainy long weekend with my dogs! Spent hours wandering the trails right there on the property and retreated back to the cozy cabin when the rain picked up. Loved sitting under the covered deck with a book and seeing the sunrise over the river valley, and the outdoor shower had an excellent view (and hot water). Made good use of the sauna and THOROUGHLY enjoyed my massage (do it, trust me!). The cabin was adorable, bed was very comfortable, and the blackout curtains meant I was able to sleep in past sunrise.

This is my second time staying at Collinswood, and a second glowing review of their property. The forest yurt is incredibly beautiful and well themed, and the feeling of seclusion is a lot of fun! It’s like the outside world is a completely separate planet. Geri and Pat put in a ton of work to make this place a wonderful time and it shows in every little bit of their sites, from the inclusion of board games to the cute themed slippers in the yurt. I’m already thinking about my next visit, and we just got home! If you’re looking for a fun weekend out under the stars for you and a few others, I don’t think there’s a better place to stay than here.

One of the most peaceful and eclectic places we've visited. We enjoy the weekend. We would love to return. The only 1 negative is leveling was very difficult but Geri helped so much. And we managed to get it all good. The community dog was kinda cool.

Forest Treehouse at Collinswood

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a great stay at Collinswood Retreat this past weekend. The campsite was clean, quiet, and well looked after. We were camping with our family and had a really enjoyable time. Even with some less-than-perfect weather, the grounds stayed in good shape and we were still able to make the most of our trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything was easy from check-in to departure. It was nice to find a campground that felt relaxed, family-friendly, and not overcrowded. The kids had a blast, and it was a great chance for us to unplug, spend time outdoors, and enjoy a few days away from the usual routine. We'd definitely come back again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful camping getaway. Thanks for a great weekend.

Solo get-away!

This place is absolutely incredible! I’m thrilled I discovered it, though I kind of wish I could keep it a secret! Traveling solo, I felt completely safe and found the atmosphere so relaxing. I had one of the best night’s sleep ever in the treehouse. The outdoor bathtub was a standout feature—such a unique experience! The owner was incredibly accommodating, giving me a tour of the property and being available for any questions during my stay. The tea and freshly baked cookies were a delightful touch! I can’t wait to return!

The Happy Hut

May long weekend is always a big unknown with weather. That's why my friends and I always book a cabin of some kind for that weekend. We had chilly winds, but I was nice and snug in The Happy Hut. another friend stayed in the renovated bus, and one brought her camper. The accommodations were great. The compostable toilet for my use was the best dry toilet ever! it brought a new meaning to the throne Room. It was amazing! hahaha. There were so many eccentric and quirky features on the property. It was great! Loved my view of the valley for my morning coffee. The shower in the old silo was fabulous. Pat (Geri was away) was an amazing host. Friendly, accommodating and helpful. He was often accompanied by his friendly four-legged companion Piper. It was a perfect property for a getaway from the city. Loved hearing nothing but songbirds singing and the occasional coyote off in the distance. We will be back. Want to try the treehouse and The Rosebud Cafe. Highly recommend Collinswood Retreat.

Unique and amazing

It's an amazing place to get away and relax. Pat and his wife thought of so many details for the design and comfort. for each accommodation provided, made it that much more special. Pat was awesome and extremely helpful with any questions or needs. We will be going back for sure. PS Part of me didn't want to let anyone know about this hidden gem so I can keep it myself.

Beautiful quiet spot . Lots of song birds all over. Next time I'll try the outdoor shower Pat was very helpful getting us situated with firewood and if we had any questions he was close by on the grounds.

Forest Treehouse at Collinswood

We had such a unique and cozy experience staying in the converted bus “Poppy” 🌿✨ It’s located on a small farm surrounded by a beautiful little grove, which makes it feel very peaceful and private. The bus itself is super charming — you can really feel how much love and creativity was put into turning it into a comfortable camping space. Geri & Pat are incredibly kind and welcoming hosts 💛 They even showed us around their other campsites — and honestly, every single one looked amazing and thoughtfully designed. One of the highlights was definitely the outdoor bathtub with a stunning view — such a special experience you don’t get often. There are also plenty of nice walking areas around, so you can explore and enjoy nature if you don’t feel like just staying in one spot. Overall, this place has such a warm and magical vibe. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something different, cozy, and close to nature 🌲✨

Gives a vive that you are actually in a jungle inside of a tree house. There is a bus turned into a cabin, which will remind you of the movie “into the wild”. Great experience overall.

Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay. They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds. All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future! Thanks again!

We really enjoyed camping here for our friends 30th! The bus was really awesome and a great theme for a little weekend getaway. The property is fun to explore with many nice little trails to walk down, and the view of the stars at night was fantastic on a clear night. Thanks Pat & Geri for a great weekend!

Amazing experience

Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.
