Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. We’ve hosted weddings, and family reunions. We hope you appreciate how special this place is. Come see for yourself!

Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

This property is one of the last remaining natural areas around Sylvan lake. Our family has spent over 120 years as stewards of the land and are excited to share what we have protected.
Enjoy Private Tent Camping in a Pristine Aspen Forest with a fire pit and picnic table. All within 500 feet of Sylvan Lake. This is the perfect place to disconnect yourself from the city!
Your fee includes free access to 120 acres of forest, excellent wildlife viewing and unlimited deadfall to use as firewood, if you don't mind some manual labour.
My kids cut and split firewood if you would like some waiting at your site when you arrive. We have seasoned and split bundles for $10 and you can pre-purchase them when you complete your checkout.
It's like a lemonade stand for them...just more work. ;)
A professionally maintained porta-potty is on-site for your comfort.

If you enjoy the water, this is an ideal location for Kayaking, Paddleboarding or just lounging on an air mattress.

The Shady Nook is the best spot I've ever camped at. The property was huge and every part of it was well-kept, our camping spot was very spacious and we didn't get bothered by anybody. The stand-in owner for the day was very nice and helpful, and even just taking a walk down the trails and between the camping spots was a trip highlight. The nook has everything you need, from toilets to outlets to showers and we didn't need to pay any additional fees for any of it. The spot was very affordable too. Just make sure you book a site that's an appropriate size for your group, as many of the spots seemed to be made for only 1-2 people.

We loved camping at Geri and Pat's. Super cute spot and great for kids, with fun trails and lots of things to do. The kids woke up to baby horses eating nearby--an unforgettable experience. Will definitely be coming back!

5 nights at Collinswood Retreat
Can’t rave this place enough, it was my second time here & i’m convinced it gets better each time! Geri & Pat are amazing hosts, Geri was there to lend a hand and stock us up with whatever we needed! My sister and I stayed here & ventured off during the days to do some hiking & paddle boarding, but was a great little place to call home base & venture around!
The horses were a dream to wake up to & we loved seeing them, along with Piper! 🐾
I’m very selective of who I tell this place about because although I would LOVE to rave Geri & Pat’s property, I fear I may have to be a bit selfish & gatekeep it 🙈
Looking forward to our next visit whenever that may be! 😁

We loved our stay with Pat and Geri! The woodbend site was so scennic and beautiful. Some of our favourite parts were the view, the birds, and the hiking trails in the woods.
The hosts were so helpful and accomodating. We definately plan on returning!

This is our 2nd trip to Collingwood, and this is a great site! It’s very private and there are some nice amenities in Poppy. Lots of places for me and my boys to explore. The boys loved sitting in the drivers seat of the bus!

Laura’s place is amazing! We stayed in the barn loft and had an amazing time. Trip highlights were:
- 360 barn loft view storm watching.
- Seeing beautiful amazing horses and getting to go on a trail ride.
- Wing night at water valley saloon.
- Gorgeous sunsets and amazing golden hour photography walks.
- The friendliest 4 legged tour guides and local celebrities (Sonny and Cher).
- Campfires chatting with a harvest moon, Milky Way sky and beautiful tree line.
- A couple of goats with some personality!
- Best of all amazing hosts who are truly good hearted people and generous to share their wonderful land with strangers who are open to the experience.

The nature trail system is well maintained. We recommend lake access at Third Point. There are nice private sandy patches there.

We absolutely loved our stay at Aspen Grove! The campsites were so quiet and peaceful, which was exactly what we were looking for. There was plenty of space for the kids to play and for our dog, and it really felt like we could just relax and enjoy being outdoors.
One of our favourite parts was hearing the coyotes singing at night, such a cool experience and something the kids will definitely remember! We also loved the little pathways leading down toward the lake lookout. The kids spent so much time exploring and even caught a frog (which of course we released 🐸).
There was an abundance of firewood available, which was a huge bonus, and we really appreciated having a serviced outhouse nearby.
It was the perfect little family camping getaway, and we would absolutely stay here again!

What a wonderful getaway! As someone camping solo for the first time they had everything i needed which made this mini getaway such a breeze. The area had endless trails to explore and so many options to enjoy. If you needed something Pat & Geri were close by to meet your needs. Cant get over the amount of options they have for anyone to enjoy! A hidden gem! Looking forward to returning!

We really enjoyed staying in the loft of the barn. We love animals, especially horses, and they were all very engaging, it was amazing!
This particular accommodation is for the young and agile, just to let people know that it is like living on a ranch and there is work to be done; stairs back and forth, hauling water, fire wood, chopping wood, getting all your gear packed up and down again from the loft, etc.
FYI the barn sink doesn't drain well, so dishes are done in the bins provided, then the gray water is dumped outside the barn in an area you won't be walking. They have all the linens, bedding, dishes, paper towels, and kleenex provided. There is coffee and tea, creamer in a mini fridge, and some games, books and other comforts as well. They had a TV and DVD's, a porta-potty in the area next to the barn, their own fire pit with burn barrel, bring chairs.
You have to be careful to leave the gates closed as you come and go, as the horses have to stay in the barnyard after a certain time in the evening. There's a large bluetooth speaker in the barn for when you are at the fire pit. You are sharing the lower part of the barn with kitchen area, with the hosts, as they use this to feed the other animals on the ranch. Bring a cooler, ice & your own towels and wash cloths.
FYI, there is no privacy in the loft, with no curtains on the windows, and no place to change, if you are with a mixed group.
There are other campers in the area and at the main house next door.
