Our 160-acre regenerative agriculture family farm came to be in May of 2021. After previously homesteading on a humble 1-acre property our family had dreams of owning more land where we could establish a farm to call home for many years to come and farm in ways that would be sustainable for generations to follow. Upon first look, the heart and soul that the original owners poured into this property shone like the sun glaring on the water of the river. Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay. They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds. All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future! Thanks again!

Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. For the second time this year an amazing stay at the Hideaway, made even better by host Gordon who kindly left a propane fire pit for us to use during the fire ban, lots of wildlife to be seen and the vintage trucks and farm equipment are a great touch on the walking trails, and to top it off a private fishing spot with picturesque views at the rocky lockout trail, we will be back next year.

This was my second time camping here and I think it’s officially my favourite campground. :) Geri and Pat are so welcoming, plus the sites are private with beautiful surroundings. This morning I saw the horses coming through the property too which was a huge bonus! With the Bowden Sunmaze close by, not to mention that this site comes with a bundle of firewood and water, I can’t recommend this place enough. With winter coming soon I hope to plan a weekend in the treehouse or other buildings soon!

Forest Glen Yurt is our answer to the requested "remote" site at Collinswood Retreat. Tucked in the woods close to the walking trails, this site is WALK IN, so pack only the essentials! There will be a wagon to assist you on the 10 minute walk from the parking area to the yurt as needed. Onsite there is an outhouse, BBQ, fire pit & food storage locker.

The sites and amenities were exactly as shown and explained on the website. We enjoyed the solitude and quietness of the site not always found in the common campground arrangement. There are some hiking trails nearby at the Crimson Lake provincial park that we enjoyed as well as taking time to read, relax and shell peanuts, once we got back to our site. Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. We’ve hosted weddings, and family reunions. We hope you appreciate how special this place is. Come see for yourself!

You can walk around and see what crop we are growing, check out our amazing horses, and enjoy viewing the birds and other wildlife that visit the farm. We have fresh eggs every day from our chickens and fresh veggies in season from our box gardens. Private secluded campsite with groomed grass and plenty of trees! We have 10 campsites for tent or RV campers. If you're bringing an RV, we can accommodate vehicles fairly long in length and the sites are pretty flat. Generators are allowed. The property is very close to the Westcountry to access quadding, fishing, hiking, swimming and much more. We are about 10 minutes north of Rocky Mtn House, Alberta Canada. Pets must be tethered and cleaned up after at all times. We offer water if needed. 110 power optional and by donation. Quality outhouse and picnic area available, but no septic. ​Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. We look forward to hosting you!
