Catch your own dinner and then sleep under a blanket of stars (or inside the comfort of your tent) on the bank of the South Branch of the Potomac. With the convenience of nearby towns, rock climbing, hiking paths, and biking roads, this is your secret getaway spot!
It's just 3 miles north of Franklin, 5 miles from Reeds Creek Rock Climbing, 6 miles to Smoke Hole, and about 30 minutes away from Seneca Rocks, WV and it is private. There are ample flat spaces for tents and trees for shade.
These spots sit right on the banks of the South Branch of the Potomac River. It is popular fishing for trout and bass and you could swim, tube or do other water sports here depending on water levels. It is peaceful, but there is a road that runs by it.
It's a short drive (or a decent hike) to rock climbing on Reeds Creek, Smoke Hole, and Seneca Rocks (you might want to drive to this one) and there are lots of hiking options or back roads for biking. It is a beautiful area any time of the day or night.
Each site has a fire pit, chairs and a picnic table and there are portable bathrooms onsite, but no drinking water. Cellular service for AT&T (and other companies that use their towers) only. Electricity not available at sites.

This was a nice little property near a creek. It is close enough to the road that you can hear cars driving by, but it still feels secluded. The site we stayed in had a big, round, stone fire pit, picnic table, and Adirondack loveseat. There’s a porta-potty nearby. I’m glad we had the whole property to ourselves because there are four sites pretty close together and if they had all been occupied I don’t think we would have enjoyed our stay as much as we did. Then again, if a bigger party rented all four sites it could be a grand ol’ time! All in all, I would stay there again. Thanks!
Such a relaxing and beautiful small peace of bliss. It feels like it is miles away but close enough to anything you need. The bonus of a flowing clear river was amazing! Picnic tables, wonderful fire rings and even a bench for two. My favorite part was the stargazing!! I was going to pull my cot out and stare up at the night sky for a few hours but I feel asleep on the cozy bench for two. This property is a narrow strip of land sandwiched between a road and a river. The road did not bother us as it not like a city road. Oh! And there was a porta potty on the property that was clean and not smelly. I could honestly live here!!
Place is pleasant by the river. No problems. There was a little road noise but fine otherwise. Be sure to get exact directions as well as how to open the entrance chain before you go as there is little if any cell signal there. You can drive directly to your site as it is a flat grassy area. Would go back again if we are in the area.
Very easy spot to get in/out with our 22' camper trailer. We had a hard time getting level, but we probably could have picked a better spot to dock. The site was pristine and the view was beautiful. We used this is a docking point while exploring dispersed camp sites in the area. This spot is off of the main road but traffic wasn't constant. The host was very responsive. Our T-Mobile service did not work here. Our Verizon Mi-fi worked just fast enough to get a couple messages in/out. Would definitely recommend this spot!
Absolutely stunning setting. If we venture back to The area without a doubt we will camp here again. Fished right from our campsite. Enjoyed hiking at Seneca Rocks and other beautiful near by attractions. Hostess was very prompt with communication.
This area is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. Plenty of nature to explore in the surrounding areas or even right at the camp sites! Danita was extremely well communicative and helpful during my trip to WV. I could not recommend her sites enough!
