- 120 electricity available. Ask us for the extension cord when you book.
- Gas Fire Pit: Kick back next to a little gas fire pit on the tent platform as you watch the sunset over the Cascade mountains.
- Food: Keep all food in tightly closed containers and please don’t leave food in the tent during the day (your car is the best place for that). Pack your trash out.
- A Quiet Space: This is a quiet neighborhood and our voices really carry, so please, no parties. Quiet time is 9PM-9AM.

Hey y'all! As much as we would love to share our space with everyone, we cannot accommodate tent camping since we don't offer an outhouse. While here you'll get to watch the sunset behind the Cascades and stargaze into the night, at our high desert sanctuary. We have 2.5 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our dog, cats and chickens. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, deer, and quail, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes and owls. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 40 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water and 50 amp electric. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale! Also, our home is located next to one neighbor to the south, the local fire station to the north, and 185 acres of rangeland to the west, on a paved road. One can, at times feel totally alone, while other times, the local pickups and harley davidson's like to be heard. We appreciate where we live and want to share that with you!

Simply stay on our 5 acre property with complete hook ups if you're looking to avoid the bustle of downtown and it's hotel prices!
Our property is about 5 acres and tent spots are first come first serve with about 1 acre being closer to our house with shady grassy areas. The other 4 acres are in the pasture and mostly unshaded.
Pitch a tent out in the pasture, near the canal that runs through the property. We are a perfect location to the fairgrounds for the Farewell Festival and all Bend festivals throughout the year. We are 4 miles to the festival sights in Redmond and 20 min to Bend. We offer shuttle rides to and from the festivities so just enjoy the ride, enjoy the show and come home for a relaxing evening under the stars.
If coming for The Farewell Festival we offer the purchase of a weekend shuttle pass to and from the fairgrounds for the weekend so you can enjoy your time and not spend it stuck trying to get out of the parking lot!!
If you are bringing an RV or trailer we have hookups for electric (first come basis).
We are close to Bachelor for skiing, Smith Rock for hiking, Sisters for shopping, too many lakes to name and 20mins to all Bend has to offer and so much more!

Pull up and let the vacation begin. The Lake Billy Chinook area has everything for the perfect camp trip. There is bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, swimming, kayaking, lounging and enjoying nature.
When you arrive just park in your site. We have 30-amp service but no RV septic hookup. The site is gravel so you may need to level your rig.
We have a fantastic outdoor area complete with couch, loungers, BBQ and fire pit. The high desert offers some of the most amazing views of the Cascade Mountains with clear blue skies and some of the best star gazing around. Casa del Lago is a dark sky site. There is a fantastic view of Mount Jefferson from the couch and the sunsets are absolutely beautiful.
During the Summer we usually enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool comfortable nights. You can hang out down at the lake and find a spot on the beach to have a picnic. You can also bring your boat or rent one at the Cove Palisades Marina and enjoy water sports.
Hosts live in house on property. We are located 4 miles from the lake and are nestled in a rural country neighborhood.

I wanted a peaceful place to call home. I found this property after a long search with a very patient and kind realtor. I fell in love with it almost immediately. The ponds bring wonderful wildlife that I enjoy watching and listening to….birds, frogs and many other animals. I wanted a property where I could have space to have horses or other farm animals if I chose to. I have not chosen to acquire them as of yet, but I like having the option. I love sharing this spot with others. The stars are incredibly brighter than most places and there is very little noise pollution as well. I call it my Little Desert Oasis. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Learn more about this land:I offer Standard RV plug in electricity and water. Sorry no toilet facilities at all. So you must have your own self-contained bathroom set up in your rig. No tent camping is it allowed. Trailers and vans with toilet are a perfect fit. It feels like country out here with horses, sheep llamas etc. small farms all around. Yet close to town, just a mile away from Highway 97 and about 3 miles away from Highway 20 near Tumalo. I think you will find the location convenient as it is only 15 minutes from the Redmond Airport, about 20 minutes to Sisters Oregon and downtown Bend is an easy 8 mile drive.There are pretty views of ponds joined by a creek and small waterfalls. The water features attract lots of wildlife! You will likely see deer, wild ducks, quail, hawks and many other types of birds. I even had a duck build a nest next to the pond last year and hatch a clutch of ducklings. There are several small Aspen trees and old junipers near the campsite next to the ponds. If the night sky and stars don’t take your breath away, the frogs will surely serenade you to sleep! There is a little view of the mountains as well. The site is centrally located for easy access to Highway 24 Highway 97. Trader Joe’s, Food 4 Less, Target, Starbucks and a outdoor shopping malls are only 5 miles away. Numerous restaurants are also only 5 miles from the home. There are more than a half a dozen breweries within 8 miles and 45 minutes to Mount Bachelor. The quaint little town of Tumalo is only 3 miles down the road. There you will find a cool taproom (The Bite) with outdoor seating, corn hole and yummy food carts. In addition, there is a great pizza joint and Tumalo Cider Bar. Tumalo State Park is less than 5 miles away. Riley Ranch Nature Preserve is also less than 5 miles away and well worth the trip!

Hey y'all! As much as we would love to share our space with everyone, we cannot accommodate tent camping since we don't offer an outhouse. While here you'll get to watch the sunset behind the Cascades and stargaze into the night, at our high desert sanctuary. We have 2.5 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our dog, cats and chickens. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, deer, and quail, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes and owls. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 40 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water and 50 amp electric. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale! Also, our home is located next to one neighbor to the south, the local fire station to the north, and 185 acres of rangeland to the west, on a paved road. One can, at times feel totally alone, while other times, the local pickups and harley davidson's like to be heard. We appreciate where we live and want to share that with you!

Summer days are typically warm and dry, while nights cool off dramatically. High desert climate - Redmond is located at about 3,000 feet above sea level.
Electrical hook-up is available for an RV/trailer on the front of the shop building and to the south of the shop on the post. Dry-camping only - no sewage, septic or water hookup is available. 50 amp circuit.
Privacy is not guaranteed. The shop is utilized daily by our family and friends. So, there might be a few visitors throughout the day in the shop.

This was our second time staying here. We really appreciate the generous check in time (1pm) because we can drop our trailer and easily get in a hike, etc instead of losing a day. Easy access to 97 and we were left to ourselves. It’s a big area where you can easily position your equipment to maximize privacy- though we only saw 2 vehicles drive by the whole time we were there. We will be back!

Susan's place is phenomenal. It's a fantastic location right above Billy Chinook Lake. It has a sweet little cabin you can stay in and a tent site area complete with everything you could need for a weekend away. Her attention to detail is impeccable. Each area has outdoor lounging areas, propane fire pits, outdoor cooking areas complete with supplies, a lovely hot outdoor shower, and a cozy hot tub that's perfect for late night soaking and star gazing. She was the best host you could ask for, so friendly, helpful, and responsive.

The only negative we experienced was a dog that felt the need to wake everyone up by jumping on their tents and/or trying to get into the tent. I don't think the dog belongs to them, but it was friendly and must've lived nearby because it happened all 3 days. Large private yard and not many campers when we went, but the ones that were there were quiet and kept to themselves. Was able to bring my dog, and there is a porta potty available, but no water that we know of. There was also a dog (not sure if it was the owners, they only warned of us their cat) that kept trying to come into our and the other campers tents and it wouldn't leave us alone. Loved that the place is also close to the Deschutes County Fairgrounds as we were there for a festival.

Great site! Effortless check-in/check-out. Morning view of the canyon was priceless! Many farm animals on the property along with some guard dogs. Very close to Smith Rock!

This was such a beautiful and serene little place! There are multiple little areas for campers but we happened to have the place all to ourselves which is just how I’d prefer it. We had our camper but we could have shown up with nothing but our tents, blankets, clothes and food. There are camping supplies, soft lighting, comfortable outdoor furniture, a clean porta potty, clean outdoor shower (with instant hot water!), an outdoor sink with running water, shade and privacy. Even though the major Flat fire was right next to us and we lost water for a bit, it was one of my most favorite camping trips! We were right near Lake Billy Chinook & Three Rivers and a little store/gas station. Susan is the best host! She is so kind and responsive and it’s apparent she takes great pride in the look and care of this magical little place. We will definitely be back!

Overview
About
Just outside of the Central Oregon city of Bend, Smith Rock is considered the birthplace of sport climbing (rock climbing that uses permanently installed anchors), and has attracted climbers to its crags for decades. While climbers make up a large percentage of the campers here, Smith Rock offers plenty for those who prefer to keep their feet on solid ground, with miles of trails for hiking, biking, trail running, and horseback riding. It’s also a great place for wildlife viewing, and it’s common to spot prairie falcons and even bald eagles in this high desert state park. Bivouac Campground, nicknamed “The Bivy,” is popular with climbers who want easy access to the rock at the crack of dawn.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- This campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s a good idea to arrive right at 4pm, when check-in starts.
- Avoid weekends for the best chance at a site. While the campground is pretty spacious, it can fill up on weekends and major holidays.
- There’s more room to camp than there are parking spots at Bivouac, so if you’re in a group, limit how many cars you bring.
- Make sure to secure a parking spot before you pay for your camping pass, as parking spaces are limited and refunds aren’t available.
When to go
While Smith Rock State Park is a year-round destination, the camping area is only open from early spring through late autumn (annual dates vary depending on weather). The best time to visit is in the spring or fall, as summers here can get particularly hot for activities such as hiking and climbing. The campground tends to fill up to capacity on weekends.
Know before you go
- Groceries and supplies are available in the town of Terrebonne, about a five-minute drive from Smith Rock.
- RVs and vehicles longer than 20 feet are not allowed at the campground, and you aren’t allowed to sleep inside your vehicle.
- Campfires, smoking, and barbecues are prohibited, and propane and gas stoves can only be used in a cooking area next to the parking lot.
- The campground offers free showers and a phone charging station to overnight guests.
- Some popular climbing routes are closed from mid-January through the end of July to protect nesting raptors. Drones are prohibited in the park for the same reason.

With sheer cliffs of tuff and basalt, Smith Rock has become an icon for climbers of all skill levels. Situated on the rim of the Crooked River, the bivouac at Smith Rock is a climbers paradise with some of Central Oregon's best sunrise and sunset views. Space is available on a first come- first serve basis and reservations are not accepted. Fees are $5 per person which will include your parking pass for the next day and use of the showers. My personal favorite part about this campground is the common area to cook and partake in meals throughout the day allowing the opportunity to reminisce with hikers and climbers alike.

Loved camping here! Arrived late on a Friday night and there were still some spots available. You must do all your cooking in a separate area a short walk away from the campsites but it's easy to figure out the rules. There's even a place next to the bathrooms to charge electronics (luxurious)! Good campin vibes here for sure!

There's a designated cooking area with no firepits, so don't plan on using firewood and pack an electric stove! Great spot for climbers, and just 20 minutes away from Bend's downtown.
