If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

In addition we offer 3 creek-side camp sites which have plenty of room for large groups; they are all situated on well drained, grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites. Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who enjoy a game of tennis there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest. Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home! Our place is family friendly and we ask that you keep music and noise to a minimum after 10pm.

This small hobby farm sits on 23 acres. The camp kitchen and sites along the creek are within sight to the main house (50m) and shed home (30m), however if weather permits sites in the paddock for more privacy can be selected. We have old macadamia and pecan trees. Goats, sheep, cows and a miniature pony graze on our paddocks. At times we can offer eggs from our chickens and produce from the garden. The property is located just 5 minutes drive to the town of Nimbin, The perfect place to rest a while, to relax, rejuvenate and let Mother Nature work her charms. Camp amongst the trees, enjoying the dappled sunlight. Go for a walk along the creek and splash around. Our campsite offers good access for all types of vehicles. We area dog friendly. There is access to a basic pit toilet. The basic shed and camp kitchen area offers protection from the elements with access to power, a kettle and gas BBQ. Prepare your meals and eat in comfort. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place.

As a solo camper, I felt very comfortable and safe on Christina's land. The cabin was perfect for a tranquil getaway, the babbling creek a morning and evening joy, and the undercover kitchen set up just superb. Christina was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend her camp to anyone.

Kathy is absolutely great host. The caravan we stayed was great. We were 5 family members and we faced no issues at all in staying at her place in her caravan. The caravan was clean and tidy. There is a kitchen, toilet and beds. The location where it parked was absolutely fabulous, serene and private. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend her caravan for others too.

Beautiful spot with a fantastic view camp trailer was clean and had all the equipment needed in the kitchen, whole camp ground was very tidy including toilet and showers, great creek for kids to play ,lots of bush walks for all levels of fitness and some really nice swimming holes. I had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Weekend Trip to Rainforest Gateway

Gorgeous part of the world. Well kept camping grounds with hotshowers and toilets near the camp kitchen. Camp kitchen was immaculate with microwave, kettle, washing facilities, cooktop and castiron over the fire, along with a lounge space and plenty of board games for the kids. Small hill from the powered camping which was also a minute stroll down to the creek.

We loved our stay in the glamping tent. The facilities were excellent and the site itself was amazing. Having our own private stretch of the river was very tranquil. Tubing down the rapids further up the river is a must during any stay at Eagle Ridge. Have recommended to friends and will definitely be back.

Sitting at the base of Mt Barney and with a small creek for you to cool off and swim, very safe for kids and little ones, very close access to main hikes of Mt Barney, the hosts were lovely and thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them! Everyone else camping were clean and quiet and made for a relaxing time No cell reception, which is great to switch off Knowledgeable staff Good amenities block with warm shower Our views were looking straight at the mountain. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have recommended to friends and family since, we will be back :)

Amazing camping location. The campgrounds were exactly as described, well maintained and easy to access. We had a relaxing and wonderful time with our two dogs. The private river is beautiful and surrounded by stunning scenery. We also spent a few nights in the tiny home, which was equally enjoyable and very convenient, with access to the BBQ, deck, and comfortable lounge area. Dan and Kristy were excellent hosts and very accommodating. By far best communication we’ve experienced at any Hipcamp we’ve stayed at. We will definitely be returning.

We loved our stay at Clarence River Wilderness Lodge. It was our second time staying and we will definitely be back. Our Tree Hut stay was very comfortable. The facilities are clean and thoughtfully provided. Our 3.5 year old had a great time playing in the river and riding his bike around. Thank you and see you next time!
