But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. Your hosts live further back on the property. We’re close enough to help if needed, but far enough away that you’ll feel properly off-grid. There is no mobile reception, which is part of the magic. This is a leave-no-trace property: - There are no bins — please take all rubbish with you when you leave. - Campfires welcome when there is no fire ban. - Facilities vary by site — please check individual listings carefully and come prepared. Pets may be possible by request. We love visiting animals, but we also protect our local wildlife and grass-powered lawnmowers (the cows), so approval is on a case-by-case basis. Rocky River Play Station is also home to evolving creative projects, small gatherings, and the Brushtales Arts Residency. Come to rest, create, gather — you're welcome.

GingerNut Farm is taking a break over winter! For June, July and August we'll only be open by appointment while we get some much needed site maintenance completed. Send us a message if you'd like to stay and we'll take it from there. We're aiming to fully reopen on the 24th of August 2026. We are an adult-only, clothing-optional, 50-acre farm. We are secluded and situated on a quiet road with forest screening. We have creek with a swimming hole and sandy beach. We offer several flat, well grassed campgrounds, some with fire pits, suitable for tents, campers vans and caravans up to 22 foot. We offer access to off-grid power. We also offer a series of internal walks & running tracks through the forested parts of the property. In addition, we offer a trained masseur who will massage in his forest studio. We offer arts courses: life drawing, basket making and cyanotyping. We offer night tours to view glow-worms. In August and September fireflies can be seen along our creeklines. We can provide escorted tours of local sights including galleries, natural sights including waterfalls and a local commune.

Weekend Trip to Undercliff Farm

We had such a wonderful stay in your cottage , it was truly a special experience for our family. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared with all the essentials we needed, including milk, butter, coffee, sugar and other little touches that made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We especially loved meeting all the friendly animals around the farm, and the farm cats were absolutely adorable. They brought so much joy to our stay. One of our favourite memories was sitting around the campfire at night under the beautiful sky full of stars. It felt peaceful, relaxing, and like a true country escape. It was such a lovely opportunity to slow down and enjoy nature. Thank you so much for creating such a warm and welcoming place. You can really feel the care and effort you’ve put into the property. We’re very grateful for this experience and made some beautiful family memories here. We would absolutely love to come back again in the future.

Wonderful place. Quiet, great views out of the bath. Had a super hot bath star gazing, and watched the kangaroos by day. The place had all the essentials, great big fridge and soft bed. Thanks for having us!

2 nights at Eagle Ridge Bush Retreat

We had a wonderful stay and a really great experience overall. The environment, nature, and peaceful atmosphere were absolutely amazing. Outdoor cooking was such a lovely experience, and everything was well set up. Dan was very approachable, communicative, and helpful throughout our stay. A small suggestion would be to clean gas barbecue and add a few extra lights around the area. Other than that, everything was awesome. We were very happy 😃 and would highly recommend this place just book it!

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

We love CRWL and have camped and paddled a few times before. This time we booked the two cabins together for a family Mother’s Day gathering and really loved the rustic cabins in the private space with wonderful river views where we have seen quolls and rock wallabies before. Sharon and Stephen went above and beyond to ensure our comfort with masses of firewood for the huge shared outdoor fireplace with seating, and for the two small indoor fireplaces, as well as providing a tree to plant for our Mum and access to starlink. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

We had a most peaceful and connecting stay in the cabins at Clarence River Wilderness Lodge. We were nine, with three doing their own camping, so we booked the two cabins for the other 6 of us, which worked perfectly. The hours spent around the well set-out campfire! Cooking, chatting, some arts and crafts, walks up and down the river, swims (yes! in May - chilly and very refreshing but not too cold), canoeing up and down the creek. We saw t least ten different bird species, and two goannas leisurely strolled past our camp. Sharon came by for a friendly drop by one evening and we heard a good bit of the history of the area from her. Altogether and relaxing and refreshing trip.

5 nights at Eagle Ridge Bush Retreat

Stayed in the Tiny Home for 5 nights and Kristy and Dan have thought about absolutely everything for your time away! From the moment you drive into this place until the time you drive away, you are met with tranquility, quiet and calm. There are 10ish camping sites on the property but each is spread out quite nicely from the other campers meaning you get your own little piece of paradise for the time you are there! The tiny cottage is set up so well! Whilst there is no mains power, there is ample solar power for lights and hot water in the bathroom. The deck is absolutely amazing (where I spent most of my time) and the outdoor heated bath along the river was the most perfect way to spend the evening relaxing. For activities - cruising the rapids with a tube or stand up paddleboard (without the fin) is a MUST! Exploring the rocks and river is fun as well with an array of wildlife around. Access to the camp is through a steep dirt road so a 4WD or high clearance AWD is required. I took a Subaru Outback which nicely traveled in and out without changing any settings. Thank you Kristy and Dan for opening up your property for others to share!

Weekend Trip to Figtree Farm at Findon Creek

4 adults and 3 furbabies.......wow what a fabulous time we had!!!! Everything in the house was just perfect and being able to be altogether sitting on the deck was the best. Late afternoon fires outside seeing the cloud roll in over the mountains and then the stars, bliss. We can't rate this place high enough. Thank you to Jane and her family for allowing us to stay in such a special place.

The perfect spot to camp with non-campers! The site had the most stunning views of the valley with nearby creek access. Level ground to pitch tents plus three double bedrooms in the house. Campfire pit and JB and family made sure we had plenty of firewood. Kids (and grown ups) had a ball exploring the grounds and creeks and watching the stars at night.

The Bunkhouse: It’s spacious and cleanThe kids absolutely loved the indoor hammock—it was the favorite "chill spot" after a long day of exploring. The Horse Experience: This was the highlight of our trip. The horses are beautiful and well-cared for. Our kids had the best time getting up close to them at the fence and going on a guided ride. Beautiful place, absoulte gem and must be protected at all cost. The rules are basic leave the place the same or better as you found it, and be respectful. Highly recommend, the cows were friendly and their communal area is well kept with a posh portaloo and hot showers, there is also a small communal kitchen with basic appliances. We stayed in the Woody cabin which is easy 2wd access, the rest of the site is deffinalty 4wd with some steep and rough climbs.
