Sandy Falls

Binghi Station Located approximately 4.5hours from Brisbane, Queensland, or 1.5 hour drive west of Tenterfield, New South Wales. Binghi Station, once a large sheep station, was a thriving tin and gem mine from the late 1800 to mid 1900. Set on 4,000 acres of natural granite rock country and untouched overgrowth of lush tea tree bushlands, the sheer beauty of the land will, without a doubt, leave you breathless of its raw natural beauty. Binghi Station surrendered to the ravaging bush fires of 2019, however, after this devastation came some much needed rainfall which brought hope; the creation of new life in the form of rich, vibrant green country not seen since the 1980’s. You can explore endlessly on this raw outback property. Discover secret hideouts, come and enjoy a swim under our flowing waterfall (for those brave enough to during the winter months!) and simply relax and soak in pure wildlife beneath a million stars in the night sky. Binghi Station is designed for the 4x4 enthusiasts. In other words we strongly recommend access by 4WD only as the entry 6klm driveway is very rugged and bumpy in most places due to heavy rain fall past 12 months. Please ask for more details if necessary should you have any concerns based on your equipment. Its an ongoing maintenance. Its the 4x4 adventure. We would rather talk it down than up:-) Currently we do not recommend SUV AWD type cars due to there lower profile and vulnerability to bumps and ruts. It is doable many do it all however about driver confidence and add another upto 2hours to trip :-) We recommend parking up the top driveway and having a preplanned lift down. BE WARNED The driveway and some tracks are rough suited for 4x4 adventure enthusiasts that like to use there pride and joy offroad gear for what its intended. ps One thing we can say you will never get bogged on our driveway no matter the rain fall as its very compacted despite its authentic rough character. The Secret Gorge site is suited to tents, camper trailers and smaller length caravans. All our other site locations are suited to off-road 4WD caravans and camper trailers. Binghi Station - an extraordinary place to make some truly wonderful family memories. :-)

Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans. If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction. Located north of Glen Innes, NSW, we offer an off-grid, high-country, authentic camping experience with 4WD trails and hiking. We are also a 10-minute drive from the Severn River, home of the mighty Murray Cod. When you book a site with us, you get exclusive use of that entire section of the property. This means you won’t be bothered by other guests and will have the opportunity to truly relax and reset. If you are our only guests at the time, you will have access to the majority of the property. Camp Site One is at the top of our beautiful mountain and offers a very rare and special camping experience. Surrounded by pristine Australian bush and incredible rock formations, Camp Site One is a true gem that very few people have had the chance to experience—until now! Camp Site One is currently only accessible on foot or by horse. However, over half the climb can be done by 4WD. The second half of the climb takes you past amazing natural formations with many photo opportunities. The climb has been achieved by people in their 70s, though a reasonable level of fitness, appropriate clothing (including sturdy footwear), and sun protection is advisable. Camp Site One is one of the most peaceful places to camp, with a truly healing energy. Camp Site Two offers an awesome site with a mountain view. It is suitable for dirt bikes, horses, 4WDing, hiking, and much more. To access Site Two, a 4WD vehicle is preferable; however, it can be accessed by 2WD with sufficient clearance in dry weather. Camp Site Three is accessible by 4WD trail only. Site Three is a real gem, a large area at the back of the mountain accessible by one trail in and out. It is suitable for dirt bikes, 4WDs, horses, hiking, exploring, and much more. We also have unpowered sites for caravans and RVs. If you wish to camp on a site that requires 4WD access but do not have a 4WD, we can assist and drive you in and out for a small fee of $10 each way. All sites have mobile phone coverage. No sites currently provide amenities and are strictly "bring it in, carry it out."

Hacketts Haven is our 68 acre property, located near Copmanhurst which boasts your own exclusive panoramic view overlooking the Clarence River. The site is approximately 14 metres clear/elevated from the river (which makes it very safe if the river was to rise above minor or moderate flooding). A truly unique camping experience overlooking the wide spanse of the Clarence only a short distance from the small village of Copmanhurst, perfect for a group booking of up to 20. Enjoy your own private site with a sandy beach @40m below site, east of the Copmanhurst boat ramp. Take a walk down the steepish soft sandy cattle tracks to the waters edge and enjoy yourself. Note: Sand can be very hot! Obedient dogs permitted and that they are on a lead or under control with livestock or cattle dogs around. No amenities so campers need to BYO everything they need and leave no trace. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place - check with host. NOTE: No treated wood to be brought or burnt on the property The Rest Point Hotel sells bags of firewood. As per Hipcamp guidelines, be fire safe, dispose of garbage responsibly and leave no trace. The grass is left lush for the roaming cattle to enjoy, however we will endeavour to slash the 40+ acres and/or whipper-snip around firepits when possible. "Jindalee" is located on a 500 acre property, 26kms east of Glen Innes. Being situated only 2kms off the Gwydir Highway, access is very easy. We have moved our camping area to a new position on “Jindalee”. This area is in a sheltered glade with views out to the north. There is a clean pit toilet with hand washing water. - bring your own drinking water. It is a large open space suitable for even the biggest rig. We have camp fire areas and offer a supply of wood, more wood can be purchased off Bob the caretaker. We are 40kms from Gibraltar Range National Park, pet friendly, and offer secure camping and a place to leave your pets so you can explore the area. We offer a pet minding service during the day for a small fee for those who want to visit the National parks. There is a bitumen road to the boundary and then an all-weather gravel road to the site. Our camping sites are grassy and have a lovely view. We offer campfire pits and free wood - limited amount collected beside each fire pit. More firewood can be purchased from Bob, our Caretaker.

Bajimba Eco Camp is part of our stunning family property nestled in the surrounds of Mt Bajimba in the Northern Tablelands of NSW, 40 minutes south east of Tenterfield. Historically known as a resting point for bullock teams hauling timber from the surrounding forests on their way to a saw mill in the lower valley, Bajimba is now home to Merv & Carey. We are just over 1080 metres above sea level, with 57 acres of eucalypt & grass tree forests, grass pastures, and a small (but mighty) organic farm. Accommodation options include "West View “situated at our highest elevation with incredible views from the deck, and "Bullock Camp" which can accommodate tents, caravans or motor homes. When making travel arrangements, note we are in NSW and therefore are 1 hour ahead of QLD during day light savings months. It is encouraged if possible that guests arrive before 6pm to ensure a smooth and stress free check in to camp. Being able to experience the sunset is all a part of your Bajimba stay! Amenities for both sites include an ablution block with hot shower and composting toilet, with steam sauna and wood-fired hot tub available by appointment. Please call at time of booking if hot tub and sauna facilities are required (especially for same-days bookings). Wood fired hot tubs require four hours to heat appropriately. Also note that all toiletries are provided to ensure that our critical farm ecosystem is maintained. 13. Timbarra Valley

The Timbarra or Rocky River is an area of great beauty southeast of Tenterfield with soaring mountains cradling the river flats and undulating hills below and is a renowned cattle breeding region. The Petrie family have been in Tenterfield since 1860 and have owned properties in the valley for over 100 years. Tim’s great-grandfather was known as Rocky Jack because of his extensive holdings. Cattle are still walked up to the Timbarra Plateau property from the river properties ‘Man From Snowy River’ style. The Plateau can be seen rising above the valley to the north from the confluence of Demon Creek and the Timbarra/Rocky River. These flow along the Demon Fault which is clearly visible on a satellite map. The 3 valley properties ‘Corner Camp’, ‘Boundary’ and ‘’Pavels’ combined with ‘Timbarra Plateau’ total over 25000 acres. The whole valley was part of 2 earlier large selections averaging 100000 acres which gradually became broken up in the late 1800s/early 1990s. There is a proud timber history in the valley and the surrounding forested mountains with large sections of State Forest now transferred to Washpool National Park which abuts both the eastern and western boundaries of ‘Boundary’ (which takes its name from Boundary Creek). The National Park and Forestland State Forest can be accessed to the west via the Billirimba Fire Trail. The eastern section of Washpool stretches across to the Clarence River, the largest eastern river in NSW. Washpool is where the Cedar King went missing and was never located. The Timbarra/Rocky River flows into the Clarence at Tabulam and then on to Grafton and out to sea at Yamba. The headwaters of the Rocky are all the way south to the Glen Innes Grafton road so the river can rise quickly if there is a downpour upstream. Interestingly when the Chinese gold miners left the Timbarra Plateau they came down with rickshaws into the Timbarra Valley then scaled the mountains to the west, near Boundary Creek, looking for their next gold diggings towards Glen Innes. The Boundary campsites at Boundary Riverside, The Cockatoo, The China Wall, and the Caves are all suitable for caravans, RVs, Camping trailers, tents and swags as is Timbarra Plateau. Corner Camp and Pavels are suitable for camping trailers, tents and swags. Boundary campsites access are all unaffected if the river rises however we will not take bookings at Corner Camp or Pavels in the likelihood of the river rising as we are committed to safety and avoiding inconvenience for guests. Harper Farms is a fourth generation, family owned cattle property out of the small township of Cangai; just 50 minutes west of Grafton. Located along the Mann River, just one kilometre off the Gwydir Highway, campers will find easy access to our riverfront site. The property is bordered by the Dandahra Creek and the Mann River, and boasts a variety of native bird and wildlife; peacocks, platypus, ducks and the occasional pelican to name a few. The Mann River is open to fishing November - July; and is a local favourite as a kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming destination. Beef cattle and stock horses have been run continuously on the property since the early 1900s, and our friendly horses and cows will often pay a visit to the campsite. Along with our working dogs, we also run a small breeding kennel of Golden Retrievers and Border Collies. Dogs are always welcome on the farm, and we simply ask that camp visitors keep them under their control during their stay. A small shop with basic amenities (groceries, camp supplies, fishing bait, fuel) is located at Jackadgery; a 15 minutes drive east on the Gwydir Highway. To the west of Harper Farms lies the Gibraltar Range which hosts Washpool National Park with walking trails, waterfalls, rainforest and swimming areas. Away from the city lights, the Cangai area offers exceptional stargazing and is popular with keen astronomers and photographers. Our property currently hosts one large campsite; ideal for family and large group gatherings. Booking the site includes complete privacy for your group whether large or small. Our family and friends have gathered at Harper Farms for over a century to enjoy the beauty of the Cangai area, and we are excited for you to come “Camp Cangai” too!

Winegrove is our home base for our working beef cattle properties which includes our small hardwood timber mill. Winegrove consists of 656 acres. The 2 Winegrove campsites are located along 1.2km overlooking the pristine Clarence river exclusively spaced @ 500m apart. P2 and P3 also have great views and are sheltered and private. Note: Fig Tree Lookout P2 is out of flood levels and can be accessed by high clearance 2WD, however we do recommend having 4WD just in case during wet conditions. Boulder Bay P3, which has ONLY 4WD access, can flood during a major flood in the Clarence river, however you can park/camp higher up when wet. [Note: Hacketts Haven is our new property, located near Copmanhurst which boasts your own exclusive panoramic view overlooking the Clarence River. The site is approximately 13-14 metres clear/elevated from the river.] Obedient pets permitted and that they are on a lead or under control with livestock or cattle dogs around. No amenities so campers need to BYO everything they need and leave no trace. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place - check with host. Firewood for sale by the bag at homestead.

Camping site is located in 41 acres of natural bush land, the perfect get away for nature lovers, hikers, horse riders and bird watchers. There is a dam and a forested area studded with granite boulders. The property is in an an elevated spot, it has lovely views and great places to camp and there's a lovely yielding atmosphere of peace and tranquility. There are accessible walking trails through the property with several areas of slightly sloping ground. We are a ten minute drive from Girraween National park, a popular haunt for hikers and bird and nature lovers in general. Ballandean winery and the Ballandean pub is also close, it serves affordable and wholesome dinners and there is a shop and a cafe as well as a restaurant there. The town of Jennings is a small, quirky town close to the border, with a population of about 150. Jennings is in two time zones, both QLD and NSW! There are many popular wineries in the region, three of which have wonderful restaurant meals. 13 minutes drive going south, is the much-loved federation town of Tenterfield - with appealing cafes, clothes shops, country outfitters, the famous Tenterfield Saddlery and a cinema which seats about 50, a railway museum, a stylish yet friendly Commercial Hotel for eating out and a historic café where federation was called into being by Henry Parkes. There are occasional Saturday morning markets too. A fun place to hang out! No motorbikes or hunting please. This land is for wildlife and supports wallabies, kangaroos and a variety of birds. On walks around the property you can spot various delicate purple, white, yellow and rust coloured flowers.

Bush camping at Redbank

We have a stunning 640 acre cattle farm nestled in the hills of the Northern Tablelands, overlooking the Wellingrove Valley. Redbank has many beautiful places and things to see, including two natural gullies full of native birds and wildlife, native woodlands, four beautiful dams and wild fallow deer. Redbank also has about 140ha set aside under Biodiversity Conservation Trust. This is a "no drive" area but always open to walking. There is a map available to show where everything on the property is located. Redbank features diverse terrain, from secluded forests and woodlands to open undulating paddocks with excellent views and sunsets. A campfire is allowed, however it needs to be kept at a reasonable size, especially during fire restriction periods. Please keep the fire within the allocated fireplace provided. At times we provide guests with firewood when we are able, but they are permitted to use nearby timber collected themselves. We have multiple campsites available, however we realise that you may want to be independent and camp in a unique place! We understand this, however we will direct you to a spot which best suits the campers' and their vehicle type, as some of our tracks are 4x4 only. We limit numbers of groups to the number of campsites available. In this way, we protect the environment and wildlife. We will be here to help you decide on the best campsite on arrival. There is some access to water (not necessarily drinking), but you will need to bring your own shower. There are no rubbish facilities or showers and limited access to toilet facilities. Pets are welcome but must be kept under your control at all times as we have cattle on the property. We have a friendly Maremma guardian dog who can turn up unannounced. He will most probably lick you to death.

There is currently only one camping site accessible by car (the River Block), but if you're up for a trek we can point you to the back hills where you'll find a whole other world. Your hosts live further back on the property so you can find us if you need help. Please note there is no mobile reception, so it is a great way to get away from it all. There are no bins here... please remove all your rubbish on departure. Campfires are welcome (when no fire ban). You can bring your own firewood, or gather what fallen timber you can find. Great views to rock domes in Girraween and Bald Rock NPs and spectacular sunsets from large rock slab expanse through a set of gates adjacent to the campsite. Cold and can be wet and windy in winter so rug up and be prepared. Bush camp accessed by steep 2WD vehicle driveway. There are rock outcrops and granite slabs around campsite. Property is on the edge of Girraween National Park and 6kms from the park headquarters by road. Local wineries such as Pyramids Road, Balancing Heart Symphony Hill are close by. Private camping area for vehicles and associated light camper trailers or tents. Caravans, larger camper trailers and Campervans are unsuitable unless car is 4WD with low.range required for heavier units. Campsite has a composting toilet and hot water shower with lights on movement sensors. Dogs are OK as long as they are controlled and remain, tied up if necessary, within the cleared camping area. Firewood is provided or can be collected nearby. A fire pit is established and is the only location for open fires.

Timbarra Valley

The Timbarra or Rocky River is an area of great beauty southeast of Tenterfield with soaring mountains cradling the river flats and undulating hills below and is a renowned cattle breeding region. The Petrie family have been in Tenterfield since 1860 and have owned properties in the valley for over 100 years. Tim’s great-grandfather was known as Rocky Jack because of his extensive holdings. Cattle are still walked up to the Timbarra Plateau property from the river properties ‘Man From Snowy River’ style. The Plateau can be seen rising above the valley to the north from the confluence of Demon Creek and the Timbarra/Rocky River. These flow along the Demon Fault which is clearly visible on a satellite map. The 3 valley properties ‘Corner Camp’, ‘Boundary’ and ‘’Pavels’ combined with ‘Timbarra Plateau’ total over 25000 acres. The whole valley was part of 2 earlier large selections averaging 100000 acres which gradually became broken up in the late 1800s/early 1990s. There is a proud timber history in the valley and the surrounding forested mountains with large sections of State Forest now transferred to Washpool National Park which abuts both the eastern and western boundaries of ‘Boundary’ (which takes its name from Boundary Creek). The National Park and Forestland State Forest can be accessed to the west via the Billirimba Fire Trail. The eastern section of Washpool stretches across to the Clarence River, the largest eastern river in NSW. Washpool is where the Cedar King went missing and was never located. The Timbarra/Rocky River flows into the Clarence at Tabulam and then on to Grafton and out to sea at Yamba. The headwaters of the Rocky are all the way south to the Glen Innes Grafton road so the river can rise quickly if there is a downpour upstream. Interestingly when the Chinese gold miners left the Timbarra Plateau they came down with rickshaws into the Timbarra Valley then scaled the mountains to the west, near Boundary Creek, looking for their next gold diggings towards Glen Innes. The Boundary campsites at Boundary Riverside, The Cockatoo, The China Wall, and the Caves are all suitable for caravans, RVs, Camping trailers, tents and swags as is Timbarra Plateau. Corner Camp and Pavels are suitable for camping trailers, tents and swags. Boundary campsites access are all unaffected if the river rises however we will not take bookings at Corner Camp or Pavels in the likelihood of the river rising as we are committed to safety and avoiding inconvenience for guests. Merv's land is in a beautiful location up high in the hills. My campsite was private and I saw kangaroos and bunnies hopping by, and pretty birds as well as farm animals. The road up there is mostly unsealed but it was easily doable in my camper van especially as I went in dry weather. The toilets were a bit far away from my unpowered site for a 60 yo lady nighttime visit because I was afraid I'd trip, but I had my own anyway. The shower and toilet facilities were very clean and attractive being uniquely designed from recycled building materials. A lovely place for my overnight stay.

Weekend Trip to Binghi Station

We were lucky enough to arrive just after some pretty severe storms went through & were the only ones there. We had the entire 4,000 acres to ourselves! We took our electric mountain bikes & loved riding or walking to Sandy Falls, or even Secret Gorge, which was a little more challenging. Jump’n Rock is about 1/2 an hour by 4WD & absolutely worth the effort. All three sites are absolutely spectacular! Plenty of good camp sites at Shearing Shed Campground but as Adrian says, be prepared as none of them are level. We were OK as we have airbag suspension. Adrian, Oratai & their 5 year old twins were perfect hosts & couldn’t do enough for us. Such a lovely family, they deserve to do well. Worth mentioning the track in. Adrian is careful to state that the track is 4WD only & be aware that whatever you are towing needs plenty of ground clearance also. We have a Ford Ranger & towed a 20’ extreme off road van. The track is very well compacted, so we were never going to get bogged but some of the hills were quite rutted & rocky & we had our hearts in our mouths on the way out, with all 4 wheels spinning! Adrian tells me he has a D6 bulldozer booked in the next month or so, so that should make a huge difference. All in all, we just loved our experience at Binghi Station. Highly recommended!

This Hipcamp honestly took our breath away. The view alone is incredible, and the beautiful white flowers around the property made the whole place feel extra special the moment we arrived. It was really easy to find and access, and the location itself was peaceful and quiet — exactly what we were hoping for. When we pulled in, we saw a little kid feeding the horses and it was honestly the cutest, most wholesome welcome ever. The horses were gorgeous, and the amenities were spotless. The hot shower was perfect, and having a laundry available felt like such a luxury while camping. Our dog had the best time exploring the space, and we’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a calm, scenic getaway. Would absolutely stay again.

We stayed at Kingfisher camp for a few days. The site itself is raised above the river by a few metres, so you look down onto it which is lovely for watching the wildlife. The cows are very inquisitive and quickly demolished our tall, portable dog fencing to investigate our camp which wasn't ideal, but it's part of camping in a paddock. We didn't use their amenities but did take a sticky beak and they are well designed and spotlessly clean. Will definitely return.

Koala is a B E A U T I F U L spot. If I knew I would have planned for a longer stay. Falling asleep to the river rapids was divine. The space was huge for kids to kick a ball and not hit the water or the camp. Maintained green grass. Directions spot on. A short welcome by the host. If we ever go back through Tenterfield I would stay again for sure!

Swan Lake is literally heaven! it’s one of my favourite places on earth. surrounded by Stunning views of the river, fire baths at your toes, immersed in bird song and nature! Awesome location, great place to explore. Pristine waterfalls & rock pools around the property with some great views too. The cascades area looks like something out of a movie set absolutely beautiful. A definite must do! Just remember you'll need a 4x4 to get around & some campsites are not accessible for caravans.

We camped by the river at the Casurina site and were absolutely blown away by the serenity. The river was a lovely temperature and a few dips were taken, enjoying the great weather. Driving up to Sunset Hill was purely breathtaking. Cow's were also very friendly with a couple taking a liking to our firepit and the left over ash. Definitely will be back to enjoy the pure magic of the great stay we had.

Fantastic campsite at Possum Hollow right on the river bank with nice shady trees and lush green grass. The river was crystal clear and flowing well, great for an afternoon swim. Hot showers and flush loos are near campsites and clean. Sarah and the team at Wunglebung are absolutely brilliant hosts! Nothing seems to be too difficult and they do in fact go out of their way to meet and greet and make sure you have an enjoyable stay. Even delivered a bag of firewood to our campsite. These guys really do look after you, we were in small hiking tents with a storm expected late afternoon. We were offered shelter in their cabin till the storm passed if needed. This was my first visit, but now plan to make this a regular camp spot and take my family and friends. Would highly recommend you give it a go!
