We decided to visit in the cold of winter and got the full winter effect of rain and mist. Despite the day time temperatures being lower, it actually doesn’t get as cold as you might think and it is definitely nice with the camp fire and supplied wood. Murray is a good host and lets you enjoy the tranquility without distractions.
We would have loved to explore the nearby walks through the forestry but the rain disrupted our plans. We would definitely like to revisit and do the walks.
It really is a nice affordable site and close enough to Tenterfield to shop or visit other nature spots. It is quiet and you feel like you are in the heart of the granite belt.

This is my second time camping here and it did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic, I had the portable wood stove going in the hot tent all night so I stayed lovely and warm. It is such a picturesque area to camp and will definitely go back. Murray the host is fantastic and even brought me down a load of firewood.

Absolutely loved Wingfield. Stunning site with open eucalypt to look over with smatterings of boulders and Xanthorrhoeas, both grand old trees and younger ones around. Awesome bird life with crimson rosellas, bell birds and black cockatoos every day.
The way the clouds roll through the trees is really something special. I hope we make it back soon!

Another great stay. Feeling the cooler weather coming on now. We spent our last afternoon sitting up on the pinnacle watching the sunset. So beautiful up there.

We had a lovely stay at Wingfield. The camp site was a lovely flat and shady location. Murray had recently mowed the area and there was a fire pit and picnic table provided. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and beautiful company of the birds, kangaroos, friendly mini horses and very(!) friendly herd of cattle. We will be back.

Another sensational stay at Wingfield. Left the heat and humidity of Brisbane to the cool nights and comfortable days up on the Great Dividing Range. We explored Tenterfield and Deepwater and enjoyed a swim in the crystal clear waters of creeks along Billyrinba Rd down to the Timbarra River.

Absolutely stunning property and we only scratched the surface. We hope to being able to return to explore more of the property in the future. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We appreciate you having us and look forward to seeing you again.

I loved staying here, it is so beautiful and so peaceful at this campsite. There were wallabies everywhere and the horses were friendly and eager to see if there was food for them. I would definitely stay here again.

I keep coming back here because it's a beautiful and quiet spot close enough to Tenterfield to drop into the pub or to grab supplies, and far enough away to make you feel that you are a million miles from anywhere. The absolute best of both worlds. Plus the fact that when I ride and camp, the Rocky River Road from the Bruxner leads eventually to Billirimba road and to Wingfield and is both a stunning ride and plenty of fun.

A beautiful property to stay and Murray is a great host. Perfect spot close to Tenterfield for supplies, dining, drinks and the history, or for exploring the area. Head east down the range for a drive along scenic Rocky River Rd.

Second time staying here and beautiful as usual. The ride out from Tenterfield on Billirimba rd as always, was awash with parrots, kangaroos and this time, three wedgetail eagles. And that's before you set up camp at Wingfield, which is at the moment a sea of green. One spot, all to yourself and you can wander throughout the 300 acres. Thoroughly recommended.

What an incredible place to stay! Only 20 minutes out of Tenterfield, Wingfield sits up on the Great Dividing Range and was beautiful and green when we camped on the first weekend in December. Driving east along Billirimba road through pastoral lands, the road turns to gravel, but it's smoothly graded and any vehicle could tackle the easy 3km of dirt. If you're camping you probably have a 4wd or SUV and will barely noticed the transition.
Turning into the property, the camp site is on the left and you choose any spot in the first paddock. We nestled down the slope a little as there was a fair breeze blowing. Once set up we wandered up to the horses and explored the property a little. We met Murray the owner the second day and he encouraged us to explore any of the 300 acre farm, and the pinnacle.
You'll share your space with plenty of wallabies and kangaroos, plus the variety of parrots that inhabit the eastern ranges of this region.
Tenterfield is close enough for you to drop in to pick up supplies, or if you're addicted to caffeine like us, head to Bad Manners and grab some doughnuts and a coffee.
This is a perfect spot to escape from the noise of city life, and at under 4 hours from Brisbane, the perfect spot to recharge.
